On the Lg/tall door, what kind of material is the 8” rise on the bottom? Some pics look like glass others look like aluminum.

The question was asked but not answered: is the door adjustable as all screen doors are? Not sure why that is not mentioned. It's a deal breaker if the measurements must be the exact height.

I searched high and low for a pet door that was compatible with a vinyl sliding door and found this one. I added my own weather stripping on both sides of the pet

I searched high and low for a pet door that was compatible with a vinyl sliding door and found this one. I added my own weather stripping on both sides of the pet door and then instead of using the enclosed lock I put in a tight fitting dowel to compress the weather stripping and secure the door from opening, super simple. The cats go outside to a large catio and then inside to a tree and window bucket. They told me they love it.

We were getting up 932 times a day to open the door and let the dog out or in. That number has gone down to zero since we bought and installed this pet door. The installation was easy and our dog got the hang of it within a couple of days. It looks nice, works exactly as described, and now we feel like we live in the lap of luxury not having to constantly play doorman to our dog. Shipping was fast, too, and the door was in great condition when we unboxed it.

The actual doggy door itself is nice but the lock and insulation included are terrible. Also despite the advertising you are required to drill several holes so it’s not renter friendly. If you order this I wouldn’t bother trying to use the included lock because if you shake the sliding door the lock will pop open with very little force. Wouldn’t trust it against strong winds or a robber.

Decent for the price

My 16yr old son and I installed this door in about 30 minutes - no help from my husband because he did not think our very large German Shepherd was going to be able to squeeze though a large tall. I will say our house is not square and angles are off so positioning of the drilled holes was a tad tricky. I was very hesitant on drilling into a perfectly good sliding glass door and its frame. All in all it's pretty sturdy - it probably could've come with a few more screws to secure it to the door frame, but then again - more holes in the door. The directions in the booklet are pretty easy to follow & offer step by step instruction. I will say we watched the YouTube video that was recommended on the back of the box - it was helpful as it give you a nice visual of exactly what the written instructions told you. Our Shepherd is oversized and a very large boy but to be honest he's just down right fat right now. Last visit at the vet he was 111# pounds. Hands down - he had NO problem going in or out the door (large tall). Also our fat little 40# pound mutt had no problem using this larger door either - they even succeeded in coming in together once or twice! (The large tall has the exact same size opening as the large, the door is just four inches higher off the ground so the bigger dogs don't have to belly crawl through the opening.) I would highly recommend this product and I definitely would purchase it again. The only reason I gave this a four star instead of five is because the lock/latch is a little rinky-dink. I personally am not worried as no one is coming into my house with our intimidating dog inside however; if I had a smaller door or an extremely friendly dog, I may be a little concerned. I'm not quite sure what I was expecting, just maybe something a hair more sturdy or secure.

Nice size for warm weather

It is so hard to find a door large enough for a giant breed dog. Our Mastiff still is a little tall but he fits through it nicely. Took a while for him to figure

It is so hard to find a door large enough for a giant breed dog. Our Mastiff still is a little tall but he fits through it nicely. Took a while for him to figure it out. Not fond of the seal between the slider door and the unit as it does not completely keep air out. The flap on the door also has a little wave to it so it does not completely lay flat and air moves through it. Not sure what we're going to do in the winter as this will not work.

We have had this extra large dog door installed for a year now and couldn’t be happier with it. Yes, installation is a bit complicated but with patience and some minor modification I.e. additional screws in a few places it is solid and sealed against the open sliding door. Other reviewers have mentioned the sealing strip having poor adhesive, ditto. It kept falling off and I thought our puppy was pulling it down until I actually saw it let loose. A little gorilla glue and it isn’t coming down. I will deal with removal way down the road. Additionally another review mention no magnetic tension on the flap? Our flap closes every time and securely with magnets, we have field mice and I was worried they might use it to enter our home but it is secure enough to not allow that. We have also had sub freezing temps and wind gusts over 50 miles an hour and had no issues with the flap opening. Our lab is in and out 100 times a day usually bursting through at hypersonic speeds without damaging anything. The flap has discolored from sun and muddy noses but otherwise this allows us to leave home or just relax without having to constantly get up or leave a door open letting the bugs in. I think the only negative is that Sarah can now bring every possible stick, apple, rock, garden utensil etc. let out in the yard into our hous to chew on.

Best Investment Made!!!

I originally ordered the Lg dog door. We have 3 bull terriers, a American Bull dog & St Bernard. Needless to say the Lg door was to small for our St Bernard. She hit her bum on the door as she barreled through. Both the Lg & Xl doors fit our slider perfect. I was on the fence with ordering this door, but so glad I did! I didn't know if it would fit our new Pella door. I also didn't know if the door would stay secure as we didn't want to screw holes into our new door. Since Pella installed our patio door we have a lifetime warranty & didn't want to void that. I was happy to see its very secure & fits great without drilling holes. Looks nice & very convenient for our pack to run in & out as they please. On the Lg dog door, I liked the feature of the pin lock on the hard plastic cover panel. The Xl door does not have that locking pin. It's very easy to push up from the outside for a human to crawl through. Thats the only downside & negative review I have for the Xl door. I did purchase a 'Lock-it-block it' to secure our patio door so no one can open the door. A broom stick cut down would work great too. There's no gap between our dog door & patio door on the Lg or Xl doors. They both fit snug. The flaps on both doors we received are thick, have great magnetic power & stay closed. We have 5 dogs of different builds & sizes running in & out all day. Dog Door is holding up great & made well. Even our 3 month old puppy can get in & out of the Xl door. The flap is a little heavier on the Xl door, but that doesn't stop little man. He's fully potty trained & likes that he can go out whenever he wants. Definitely a game to him at first. He loved to show us what he could do, for a praise. The only time I may see myself getting rid of this door would be if Pet Safe would make an automatic Xl dog door with the collars. Those look so nice for patio doors, but unfortunately they don't make one large enough for our big St girl. I would recommend these dog doors for anyone with a sliding patio door. Works great for our needs & our packs. Its so nice the door stays secure & doesn't have to be permanently screwed in, if not wanting to install permanently. Great investment for us & happy pups!!

This is just what I wanted. Very easy to install. It came with hardware so it can be permanently affixed although I am using it as a more temporary door. I purchased some foam weather seal to stick on both sides so there is not gap for air. Since I live in an area that has cold winters, I plan on having it installed in the summer months and then when winter sets in I will store it in my garage until next year.

I have only one regret: not getting it sooner!! The installation manual was a bit complex, but their YouTube video was able to walk me right through it. It feels nice and sturdy, i ordered size Large and it is big enough for my rough collie to go through... well, I mean fly through!!. This thing is definitely taking a bit of a beating by both of my dogs, but it looks perfect, no dents, nicks or damages just yet. It is seriously the best thing i could have done to let my dogs take themselves out... they probably go in and out of the house over 20 times a day, for 2 dogs, that's quite some use... now you can imagine having to get up each time they rang their little door bell to be let out, it was incessant! Now they just breeze right through on their own. The magnet strip is pretty sturdy, the door bolt can be a bit more attractive but I'm not complaining. Overall this was a great buy

Needs additional weather stripping

The product doesn't come with any way to seal the insert against the wall and sliding glass door, so there is a lot of temperature leakage until it's sealed properly

The product doesn't come with any way to seal the insert against the wall and sliding glass door, so there is a lot of temperature leakage until it's sealed properly. I found some expandable window foam to seal in the gaps and now it works great, but I wish the product came with this already so I didn't have to improvise! I like the glass insert overall, it's very pretty and functional. The magnet for the door flat is strong, so I'm not worried about anything accidentally pushing it open, but the cats are struggling to learn how to use it. Probably fine for dogs.
