PetSafe Extreme Weather Sliding Glass Cat & Dog Door, White, Medium

I needed to spend about an extra $20 in door weather stripping to ensure there wouldn't be any air gaps. I also cut up a bit of the cardboard that held the spring loaded top in place as more insulation and so it can't be easily moved. I didn't use any hardware to hold it in place, but did have to remove the door lock attached to the frame to fit it in. I did have an issue with the door jam somehow the end was smooshed, but customer service took care of it for me as I had a photo to send them. I give it 4 stars only because I had to buy extra insulation, I installed it on a 40+ day used a hair dryer to ensure that the metals I installed the insulation on were not cold. Remember tape and stuff applies best in warm weather.

It took a while to get this installed because I needed to purchase additional gaskets/seals. The dog door is not as wide as the glass door so I had install the dog door in the part of the frame closest to the house. Also, like another reviewer mentioned, there is no indentation on the bottom door that would allow the dog door to fit in the track. I suppose this is because it needs to be flexible for a variety of doors. I used pipe-like and flat gaskets to seal around the top, bottom, and sides of the frame from the outside. The gasket provided to seal the dog door to the sliding glass door is not adequate, because it doesn’t address the gaps. I bought a silicone “teardrop” shape door gasket and stuck it on the sides of both doors and that eliminated the gaps. I don’t thing the “sweep” gasket that goes on the back of the sliding glass door (to eliminate cold air from going between the two glass doors) is very effective, but I can’t think of anything better. I do wish this product came in a “small” size pet door instead of just medium or large. All in all, this product meets my needs and I’ll just have to see how it work during prolonged freezing temps.
