Do the cats willingly eat the tablet, or do they have to be pilled?

Answer by Skooby13Aug 19, 2025
The pills are tiny, but I crush them and mix them into a pureé lickable cat treat and haven't had any problems with the cats taking the whole dose.

How often do you have to administer. This is a feral cat.

Answer by ChewyFeb 03, 2021
This treatment starts working quickly and efficiently, killing 90% of adult fleas within 6 hours. A single dose should kill the adult fleas on your cat. In the event of re-infestation, you can safely give your cat another dose as often as once per day.

1/25/21 I want to know is this pill water proof.2 Does the fleas have to bit first. Is this a month long or 1 day medication the website is not very good

Answer by ChewyJan 26, 2021
CapAction is an orally administered tablet that does not wash off. Once your pet has swallowed the tablet, the active ingredient, nitenpyram, goes to work within 30 minutes. Once the nitenpyram enters the bloodstream, the fleas ingest it when they bite your pet. If your pet gets re-infested with fleas, you can safely give another dose as often as once per day. CapAction is safe for dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens 2 pounds of body weight or greater and 4 weeks of age or older.

how long does the product last on the cat to treat fleas?

Answer by ChewyMar 08, 2022
A single dose of CapAction should kill the adult fleas on your pet. If your pet gets re-infested with fleas, you can safely give another dose as often as once per day. It will begin working within 30 minutes.

Wow!! Our kitten we adopted this week had big fleas on her and was Very itchy. We tried bathing her and that was pretty frustrating because the water kept cooling off too quickly and she didn't like that. We weren't easily able to mash this pill with a spoon (but were also kind of tired and overwrought). I put it in a small amount of wet food loaded with crumbles of her favorite treat and eventually, once the pill had begun to dissolve a bit, she ate the pill along with the wet food. Almost exactly an hour after taking it, there were several fleas (looking shriveled up and still) on the (safely-covered) heating pad I'd given her to warm up on. Btw, I checked frequently with my ultra-heat-sensitive hands that the temp of the heating pad was still just barely warm, and watched her near it and its cord the Entire time. After another half hour or so she had stopped itching incessantly and settled down for some deep sleep. She looked very cute and restful!

We came home from vacation to find fleas - generally I use natural methods but couldn't get ahead of the problem... I bathed my cats, flea-combed, washed all bedding, theirs and mine! Seeing my 3 cats suffer got to me and I had to make a decision on something to knock down the fleas on my cats while continuing treatment on all areas at home. This product does what it claims! I crushed a pill for each cat placing it in wet food, spaced out over 1 hour apart, so glad I did! My first kitty- 18 lb pixie-bob - went Crazy running around and it Was hard watching, and unable to console him, but after about 40 minutes he went and laid in the bathroom sink and slept peacefully. My other 2 kitties didn't have such a rough time with it but Dead Fleas were found where the cats were and when I brushed each of them. I held back on giving a second dose next day but if needed it's good to know this works! Just please read all info on pkg and treat all other areas at the same time.

A blessing from God!

This product is an absolute blessing from God! We have two cats, and no matter how hard we tried using Frontline AND constantly flea combing, the fleas were out of control. I have a flea allergy and it makes the bites welt up and scar...and for some reason fleas love me, so I was constantly being bitten. It was miserable. I was almost to the point of throwing the cats outside, but I hated to do that because they are my children's cats and they would have been crushed. The fleas were so bad though, and I was being bitten several times a day and you could constantly see fleas crawling on our kitties and find them on furniture etc. This was the last opportunity, and I was pretty skeptical about trying it...but I am SOOOOOO glad we did!!! The day after we gave the cats their first dose we flea combed...and found 1-3 fleas TOTAL. Previously a flea combing would yield 60 fleas or more. This was astronomical!!! There was immediate relief from the hordes of fleas! But this medicine only stays in their systems for about 24-48 hours, so new fleas hatched. We decided to use this instead of Frontline. We use it on the 1st, 10th, and 20th of every month...doing this has given WAY better results than Frontline ever did, and now after several months the flea cycle seems to have broken!!! We have not seen a SINGLE flea in WEEKS!!! Thank GOD!!! This medicine is a bit pricey, but if you can catch a sale it helps...and it is totally worth it if you are in a desperate situation as I was. We place about a teaspoon of wet cat food in a dish with the pill mixed in. Sometimes the cats eat it unknowingly and easily, sometimes they will lick it up after a few minutes as they eat, and sometimes (about 1/2 the time) we have to pick it up out of the bowl, pry open the cats mouth, and put it at the back of their throat. (Which is how a vet would give them a pill btw) Occasionally they spit it back out and we have to try again, but usually once we put it in there they will swallow it. I am incredibly grateful to the Lord for this medicine!! It has changed my life, and allowed me to live a comfortable life and my kids get to keep their cats inside! I absolutely recommend this product to anyone who needs to kill fleas FAST!

I don't know what you guys need to do but busted open packages is not acceptable. The products bought from CHEWY are not cheap most of the time. My $30/$40 little items in with the catfood box were on my front steps bc th box was busted. THIS WILL STOP ME FROM ORDERING FROM CHEWY. I've ordered cat food from other places and this is by far the worst shipping. The very few dollars I save with chewy isn't worth it. If my orders continue to arrive in poor conditions I WILL TAKE MY BUISNESS SOMEWHERE ELSE. I mean come on, you know what your shipping, right? Heavy cat food/litter!!! YOU NEED TO DO AND BE BETTER! WHAT DO YOU THINK IS GOING TO HAPPEN WHEN YOU CRAM 2 30LBS BAGS OF CAT FOOD IN ONE BOX. THIS IS POOR JUDGMENT ON SHIPPING, THIS IS ON CHEWY! BE BETTER! YOUR CUSTOMERS SPEND A LOT OF MONEY FOR YOU TO TREAT THEIR ORDER LIKE THAT. IT SCREAMS THAT CHEWY DOESNT CARE! Treating my order poorly is treating me poorly! I will not pay you to disrespect me again.

My cat is sensitive to a lot of flea and tick products, particularly topical solutions and collars that resorted to using flea wipes, herbal oral products and combing her hair daily. I decided on this product because of its pill form but the directions both on the box and inside literature on frequency of use is unclear. Do I give one dose daily, weekly, monthly? Nowhere is this information provided. I've got six tablets and, unclear how to regiment its use beyond the first dose. Not knowing how to dose the other five pills, weekly monthly, etc., makes me nervous.

Excellent Product for Moderate Adult Flea Infestation

See my report to Chewy/Katherine who gave one star rating. Product has same listed ingredient as Capstar which is a bit pricier with repeat purchases-albeit no knowledge

See my report to Chewy/Katherine who gave one star rating. Product has same listed ingredient as Capstar which is a bit pricier with repeat purchases-albeit no knowledge if ingredient sources are equivalent in efficacy and quality between the two products. Have definitely seen differences in reactions to application to different cats depending on specific flea burden of individual cat. Possibly try adding lighted sticky flea traps and combing coat with flea comb dipped in soapy water to cat's tolerance. With strategically placed flea traps and combing combined with topicals for emerging young fleas and regular vacuuming and washing of fabric cushions and cat beds, product does the job it describes.

Works as it says it will.

I was skeptical but with a family of cats grooming each other, topical drops were out of the question so I gave Capaction a try. It worked and I will keep tablets on hand for the future. The pill is small and easy to hide. I gave a small spoonful of food first with the pill before feeding the rest. One cat licked around the tablet in her food so I tried a pill pocket, which worked well. The other two ate the pill unknowingly in their wet food. One cat was super hyperactive during the initial phase followed by a day of lethargy... just slept more, One let me comb him to remove dying fleas and the other hid and howled off and on for half hour to probably an hour. No major problems and definitely worth the peace and quiet after for them and me. No scratching!

It is impossible for me to put a Frontline type med on my cat. This tablet is a great alternative for my food focused kitty. I just put it in her food, and she chows down. However, it does not kill larvae or eggs, only live fleas, but this works well enough for her.
