Is this for cats as well? I’ve always purchased this but now it’s marketed for dogs only and I do not see a version for cats on Chewy but Pet Wellbeing does have it on their site.

Answer by PhilApr 01, 2026
You are correct—Kidney Support Gold is now marketed as a single formula for both cats and dogs. The active ingredients, including Rehmannia root, Cordyceps, and Astragalus, are identical for both species. The only difference is the labeling on the bottle, but the bacon-flavored liquid inside is the same. Just make sure to follow the weight-based dosage on the packaging for your cats.

My cat has beginning kidney disease stages and is a picky eater. Could this also work as a food enhancer to attract him to eat?

Answer by ChewyOct 13, 2018
This supplement assists in the maintenance of appetite, hydration, healthy weight, and energy.

how does this taste? I'm not good at giving things orally to my guy. Will he detect it on his food which is already a challenge to keep him eating

Answer by ChewyMar 12, 2018
The formula has a plant based bacon flavoring for palatability, you can also add it to the food.

Can I give my cat kidney support gold and thyroid support gold at the same time? Or should I only use one at a time?

Answer by ChewyAug 29, 2018
Products that focus on different health concerns, are generally safe to use, but similar to how some people can have different reactions to combinations of medication—pets can react differently to combinations of medications. Your pet might have special medical conditions that only a veterinarian would know. We recommend consulting your veterinarian before combining medications.

The dosage directions are printed so small and a bit confusing. I accidentally gave my cat a dropper full instead of 1 drop per 2 lbs. I freaked out, contacted Chewy, then one of their vets. I thought I may have overdosed/poisoning my cat. The vet gave me info to contact the product company and I immediately called them. I was told that even though I gave him too much, he should be OK. That being the 1st time I used the product, I was scared I hurt him instead of helping his kidney disease. They said skip a day or so before giving him another dose. They also informed me that the small confusing dosage writing has been a problem that they are dealing with, so I guess I am not the only upset pet parent. Thank you Chewy for your help in this matter. I will post a comment in a couple of months when he has his kidney blood work done again to state if the product helps him.

At 14 years old, Charlie struggled with the challenging diagnosis of stage 3 kidney disease. However, we've seen a remarkable change ever since she started taking Kidney Support. Her blood values have stabilized, and she is more active than ever. Her appetite has improved significantly, and her fur has regained its vibrant shine. This incredible transformation is primarily thanks to Kidney Support and the probiotics and daily vitamins she now takes. My vet is impressed with the ingredients and gives them a strong endorsement!

Please do your research before giving their Pet Wellbeing Kidney Gold product to your dog. Read REAL online reviews of pets dying within 24 hours of giving their dogs this poison. Our pets trust us with their life and we cant trust this companies many FAKE reviews. I have to live with the guilt daily of giving my Baby this toxic poisonous concoction. Please if your pets vomits, trembles or get lethargic- get to a vet ASAP!!! The ingredients can drop their blood sugar to deadly levels and severely dehydrate them. I truly regret the day I ever ordered from their website. My dog was dead within 24 hours of giving her this and she was fine before that. Heartless greedy scam company using cheap deadly ingredients that are killing pets.

My fur baby has been battling Ckd and pancreatitis since Sept 2023. Vets prescribed him meds that made his levels higher. I had lost hope & kept seeing him decline with no energy nor appetite and rapidly losing weight. I researched holistic herbs and came across this and read the reviews & read similar cases I was so shocked to hear same symptoms and no hope . I purchased over night and gave this to my dog the next day. A month has passed and he is running around & full of energy! I am a firm believer in natural herbs and holistic meds I am also giving him c0q10, just food for dogs, probiotics, anti acid along w subcu fluids. I truly believe this played a part in him having all this energy and happiness. Don’t give up when it’s not time. I hope this review helps someone as much as I researched .

So, off the bat, two things - 1. I adopt and foster primarily senior and geriatric cats; in the cat world, this means I deal with a whole lot of kidney disease, since it’s the number one (health related) killer of cats. 2. I am an extraordinarily science and evidence based person; I want to see the research, more research, and it better be controlled, peer reviewed, well designed, and tested on the actual species - and the product MUST use the correct/proven sources, dosages, vehicle delivery, etc as the research. That said, CKD is devastating, and it leaves you desperate. So I will try “natural” remedies if there isn’t solid research that any ingredients are toxic to cats (dosage matters, but with kidney cats, I prefer to not take chances; you’d be surprised at how many of these “natural” remedies contain toxic ingredients). However, I have no faith in them, and remain skeptical even when they seem to work. Correlation does not equal causation after all. I have tried Support Gold on 3 kidney cats so far. One hated the flavor, the other two don’t mind. For the one who hates it, dropping it on a Purebites chicken treat that very easily absorbs it works well to convince him. Of the three, I have seen no discernible difference in two. But of one of them, a significant difference appears to be observed. After months of battling inappetence, he was suddenly cleaning his plate about half the time. When I cease use of this alone, he appears to go back to only rating 1/4 - 1/2?of his food and never cleaning his bowl. I can’t say by which mechanism exactly that Support Gold might be helping him; nor can I pin point exactly what ingredient(s) in Support Gold might potentially stimulate appetite or reduce nausea in a feline, but perhaps the overall supported kidney function is what helps. Like I said, there has been no discernible difference in the other two, even in labs. But the significant, life saving and quality prolonging impact that appears to be occurring in one of the cats means that Support Gold is absolutely worth trying to me for any future kidney cats or fosters. After being on Cerenia and other prescription anti-nausea meds for months, this kitty has finally been off of them, and we’ve seen a bigger difference in his appetite with this supplement than we did with the medications. I won’t say that this works or how, or that every kitty will respond favorably to it. But in my opinion, it is worth trying if there’s even a chance it can help another kidney cat like it seems to one of mine.

can I get some of this for myself

So… It’s early days but I wanted to get on here and post because I’m very excited. Poor little Rufus, we have been contemplating putting him down in a few weeks before we leave for vacation. Awful. He stopped eating most things, we have him on appetite stimulants, nausea reducers, daily fluids, and liquid supplement Hydro care. Basically everything you can possibly do for a cat with kidney failure. I saw this as a recommended purchase on this site, and because I do take a lot of herbs myself and I’ve seen a difference, I figured what the heck. At this point we’re willing to try anything. So the first day he got the full recommended dosage, he started socializing with us again. Before that he would just hide because he knew that his IV drip was coming. On the second day he started wrestling with his brother Luke again. That hasn’t happened in months. He cuddled with us yesterday and honestly it feels too good to be true and will take it as long as it lasts. He doesn’t seem to mind the taste. We put it in with his Hydro care liquid. And then if he doesn’t lick the whole bowl we take what’s left and mix it in with his fancy feast which is the only thing he’s been eating lately. Reading some of these reviews I’m going to try one of the other kidney failure foods that someone said worked for their cat. And honestly I’m going to try to read about the supplements that are in this potion – – wondering if I can give it to my other cat also just for good measure!

my holistic vet recommended your product along with mushrooms and c caps too and tumeric. the vet put brutus on steroids. i didnt want to do chemo as i watched my husband die from it. after one month i took brutus back to the vet. he did blood work and said in his whole career he has never seen a cat respond to steroids the way he did. i said it has to be all the suppls. he agreed. his white blood count was good. he does have non regenerative anemia. so i did some research and with the help of chewy pharmacists, we found a brand new drug on the marketwith fda conditionally being approved to treat this. it has to do with his red blood cells now. i will take him back in another week for another blood test to see how he is doing. he has developed peroneal nerve paralysis. dont know when this started. it seemed like it came on when i discovered the lump behind his knee and he was limping. it seemed to clear up. my holistic vet had me put him on another product to see if it will help. i know your product has to be good cause my holistic vet recommended it.

I have a 7 pound long haired female Chihuahua. She’s eight years old and the only medication she’s ever taken was when she was spayed pain. I was hesitant to buy this as some of the reviews that their dogs got sick, however, I was desperate to try to help herand this is what recommended. She’s been getting her three drops twice a day for the instructions for her size. She has no symptoms of being sick or not liking it. I just on top of her food. She goes to town.

My cat, Ashley Marie, was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease almost 2 years ago. She just recently entered Stage 2 where her kidney levels were higher than normal. My doctor chose this supplement to start and Ashley has been on it about a month. First of all I have to give this to her orally as it's VILE! It smells bad, thick sticky nasty stuff. But I will happily shove this down her throat if it works and it does! Just got back from the vet today for a recheck and all her kidney levels except for her BUN are now back down in the normal range. I am hopeful that as I continue to use this the BUN will regulate as well. Also FYI with pet insurance mine paid for the cost of this.

I have two cats that are 16yrs. and 5months old. In June my females blood work came back with high levels in her creatine and BUN. The vet recommended these kidney vitamins for her and her brother. I took her back for a follow-up appointment 4 months later in October, and her blood results showed that with the sub q fluids and vitamins her creatine was back in the normal range and her BUN isn't as high as it was. I would've given 5 stars, but if I give it to them right after they eat they throw it up. Other than that it works great! Will definitely continue to give to my fur babies and I also recommend this product to anyone with an animal with kidney problems.
