How long on average would the 20lb bag last with one rat?

The length of time a bag will last can vary greatly depending on the individual rat(s) and what other supplemental food or treats are added to their diet. Most rats should have unlimited access to Regal Rat - Adult Rat Food. Environmental and genetic differences in rats may affect individual nutritional needs and the volume of feed may have to be decreased in rats prone to obesity. For a complete feeding management plan consult with an exotic animal veterinarian.

Historically, I've had female rats, but after a long period of having an empty nest, I decided to introduce 4 baby boy rats into my arms. I knew rat males and females have their differences, but what I was not prepared for was the sheer appetite of these tiny black holes. I started them off on young Oxbow rat food, but when I was blowing through bags in about a week and a half, I knew I needed to switch them to adult. I feed my rats breakfast and dinner with kibble as a topper on their meals or give them a sprinkling of kibble an in-between meal to make sure they're getting everything and staying with full bellies. They run like maniacs both in and out of free roam time, and I needed to make sure they had the energy to stay active and grow strong. The small pet store bags just couldn't keep up, and I knew I was going to need to buy in bulk if I was going to keep anything in stock. Oxbow has always been a trustworthy brand, and I cannot stress enough how perfect finding a TWENTY pound bag of this stuff is! I always envied how dog and cat food came in bulk, but never small animals'. This absolute beast of a bag is my answer to that. Excellent quality kibble my boys have no trouble munching on and I appreciate that the bag comes with a reusable seal to prevent it all from going stale. I can't wait to see how long this lasts me and I am very satisfied with my purchase. I will certainly be ordering this again whenever this one runs out.

I currently have two rats and another on the way. Local stores are charging $18.99 for a 3lb bag of this same product. It's insane! I split one of these bags with my daughter and a friend who each have three rats themselves. We could not be happier to have found an economical way to feed our boys. Oxbow Regal Rat is one of the top two options for a healthy, balanced, rat diet. I have fed all six of my previous ratties this same food with much success. I have heard that some rats do not take to this brand. I have never had an issue. I feed my boys this as soon as they come home and supplement babies with proteins like hard boiled eggs, sardines or cooked salmon. Could not be more pleased with their overall health.

I was previously giving my adult male rats a different rat food that was not as nutritional as I would have liked. I was a little hesitent giving my boys something other than lab blocks. I bought a 3 pound bag to try the food out. They ended up loving it and would not touch their previous food. Switching them to the Oxbow food went a lot better than I expected. My rats did not have any digestion issues at all when making the switch. Buying the large bag of feed is really worth your money. The 3 pound bag lasted me about two weeks with two male Fancy rats. I am very pleased with my purchases and will only be purchasing this rat food from now on.

I originally bought this because it is a lot cheaper, in bulk, because I only nine ratties. In my opinion it is the best rat food on the market. The ingredients have good quality. When I first received my first batch the bag was split open, and I contacted customer service and they sent me an entirely new bag for free along with my other products that were in that order that were missing or there as well. It lasts quite a long time and is much cheaper than buying a 3 pound bag for $10 every week or every other week.

Best food not only for rats, but mice too!

I own 3 mice, all of whom eat this food. The Oxbow Young Rat and Mouse had too much protein for my girls (and most mice), so I switched to the adult rat version

I own 3 mice, all of whom eat this food. The Oxbow Young Rat and Mouse had too much protein for my girls (and most mice), so I switched to the adult rat version. My girls are healthier than ever. This food files down their teeth and makes sure they get full nutrition since it's not a seed mix. I do give them a seed mix as well, so having a balanced block food item ensures they can't always pick out favorite foods and that they get full nutrition. Highly recommend!

Ive been using Oxbow Adult Rat Food for years with many different rats. I haven't met any that dislike it, and they generally get super excited at even the sound of the bag when I pick it up. When on the food their coats stay smooth and clean, and their bellies full, letting me know theyre healthy and happy. This food along with some supplemental fruits, veggies, and whatever else we eat that they can too makes a well rounded diet that they enjoy (A LOT).

I have used oxbow feed exclusively for 20 years. When my parents got me my first pets when I was a kid this is the only brand my mother would buy. She has owed rats for a lot longer than I have. I have always had very healthy rats who love their food. I’ve been asked by vets what I feed and when I say oxbow the answer is either “good” or “that’s what I recommend”

Of course, they always have a full bowl, they just like to store it somewhere else than the bowl itself.
