I am so very happy to see such a high quality kibble choice for ferrets finally! This recipe is formulated very well for a ferrets nutritional needs. It is high in animal-based protein (97% of the crude protein is from animal-based sources), high in animal-based fat, and is low in starch carbohydrates (less than 10% starch). My ferrets did not have any issues with this food being gradually introduced into their diet. Once they were accustomed to it, I was able to successfully remove one of their other kibbles that was causing them to have chronic loose stool. That was over six months ago, and stool output has been normal and healthy since. I highly recommend this ferret diet!

4 mo Old Ferrets Preferred It To Marshall's Premium, Contains Rice

I am switching my 4 month old ferrets from the Marshall's Premium food they ate at the pet store to a mix of this and some kibble made by Wysong, with raw human

I am switching my 4 month old ferrets from the Marshall's Premium food they ate at the pet store to a mix of this and some kibble made by Wysong, with raw human grade meat & egg for treats. Both of my ferrets strongly enjoyed this food. By the end of week 1, they were digging their bowls out onto the floor so they could eat just this and leave the Marshalls behind. I did see the normal mucus poos that come with food swaps for ferrets the first week and a half while they switched, but after two to three weeks that has resolved. A star has been deducted for the inclusion of rice flour, as ferrets should not have carbs (esp. plant based ones) as much as possible to reduce the likelihood of insulinoma developing. That said, the quantity of these plant carbs is much less in this food than in the ingredients lists of other ferret foods (even more expensive ones). The price is reasonable compared to other ferret foods (currently $24 per 4lbs, though I was able to get several bags on a buy 2 get 1 free deal), the ferrets like the food, and it's almost plant free. A good option to mix with other kibbles!
