Has the company designed a frozen treat which is the appropriate size to fit specifically inside of this toy's dispensing slots?

Answer by ChewyJun 20, 2025
There is not a specifically designed frozen treat to fit this toy, but you can fill and freeze with peanut butter, wet food or plain Greek yogurt.

Are there measurements for the treat spaces, even approximate. Size of a quarter? Diameter of a ping pong ball? Anything?

Answer by ChewyMay 11, 2026
The spaces are generally best suited for small treats or kibble pieces. Most compartments are approximately the size of a quarter or slightly larger.

I put little treats and peanut butter throughout and gave it to my dog (120lb German Shepherd) who just had surgery. He sort of figured out how to spin the tiers, alternately he slapped his paw down on it and tried biting it, that wasn't hugely successful, as it turns out. The plastic is pretty hefty in my opinion. Now, I'm sure a heavy chewer could absolutely destroy it, I'm fortunate enough my boy doesn't gnaw on anything but bones. But as far as smacking it around and biting at it? It did great. The pieces come apart reasonably easily. If you flip it over there is what looks like two crescents, if you squeeze them together the lip of the crescents gets out of the way and the pieces come apart. I ran the pieces through the dish washer. Not sure if it's "dishwasher safe" but it worked for me lol.

I have two dogs, a dachshund and a red tick coonhound. I got this because my red tick eats so quickly he’s done with his food in about a minute. Not even joking, he will scarf down 2 cups of food in one minute. I’ve tried the bowl with the swirls in the base and it didn’t slow him down at all. So I decided to try this one. Definitely worth the investment. I fed him his breakfast, putting one cup of dry dog food in it this morning. Took him 8-ish minutes just to eat a cup when in a normal bowl it takes him 1 minute to finish 2 cups. He did get frustrated for a minute at the beginning and tried to lift the bowl and dump the food out. Jokes on him because the layers are too close together to dump it out. Smaller dry dog food may be easily dumped out but I have not tried it. For reference, he eats the standard Pedigree Adult dry dog food (yellow bag). He’s a very energetic hound so I think this will also help stimulate him mentally.

A little small but fun!

I have a largeish (80lb) mutt and we like to alternate between a few different mazes for his food. I just used this for the first time and it took him about 5 minutes. He is highly food motivated so I didn't expect it to be much longer, but it still tired him out (at least mentally) a bit, and he's panting next to me as I type. The problem I wish I noted before purchasing is that large dog kibble is tough to toss into the maze; the interlocking levels are too close together to move for large kibble pieces to be in the same honeycomb/compartment together. We use Wellness Large Dog Dry Kibble, which are about the size and width as the tip of my thumb- probably on the larger dog food size. So, it took me 1-2 minutes just to get his food into each level. I wish they were spaced a little further apart, and might take the maze apart to fix this issue myself. If you have smaller dog kibble (say, smaller than the Goldfish snack) this won't be a problem for you, but I wish I had known it! Like I said, we alternate between this and a few other basic mazes (the large red Kong food dongle being my favorite, although it can be messy it takes him at least 10 minutes) so I won't be returning but I definitely won't choose this one when I'm in a hurry.

This is supposed to be an intermediate puzzle toy. And to be fair I’m pretty sure my Doberman is an evil genius. I bought this at the end of a two week stretch of torrential rain needed to give my guy who has the spirit of a chaos demon already inside of him a little extra mental stimulation when mom just can’t be out in the rain training or doing 3 mile hikes on trails that had become rivers. So I put his kibble portion of dinner in there. Now we have a slow feeder for brekkys and typically do hide and seek for a portion of dinner. So he’s smart. Used to working for his dinner. We’ve done multiple puzzle boxes and the terrorist literally figures out how to smash them against something to knock compartments open. I’ll give it to this design. He hasn’t figured out how to do that with this one. However. With the three layers filled. It took him under 2 min to finish. so I thought. Sure ok that was too easy. I’ll do less. Just a few pieces on each level. Nope. This member of Mensa had it emptied again in under a minute flat. So, it’s a good design, durable, swivels nicely, each pocket fits a piece of his extra grande kibble but maybe for a slightly dimmer light bulb. God speed to all those dog owners out there fighting for our lives through less than ideal weather and the demands of our four legged Mussolinis

Very close to perfect

My Labrador loves this and is so so proud of himself when he’s finished! I would give it 5/5 but it doesn’t really have a non-slip bottom. I’m not mad at it though

My Labrador loves this and is so so proud of himself when he’s finished! I would give it 5/5 but it doesn’t really have a non-slip bottom. I’m not mad at it though and just set it on a lick mat so it doesn’t move around. Truly love it though, after a few days I have noticed that it really does mentally tire my dog, in a good way!

I have four young kids and lots of puppies and young dogs. We volunteer with a service dog organization, so I am constantly bringing new dogs into my house. I typically do frozen slow feeders to buy myself some extra time keeping the dog busy at meal time. This thing buys me a solid 45 minutes. The ridges are high enough to keep all of the food in and the dog can only lick it out, but low enough they get a tiny bit with each lick so it keeps them going at it. I use regular kibble and just pour water on it, or my favorite is soaking kibble in water, blending it, and pouring that into the lickin layers, then freezing it. The three layers also separate for easy cleaning.

OMG! My pup was eating so fast he was choking. I got a dish that slowed him down a little, but he was still going fast. Now, I have time to make a cup of coffee and watch him look for his food and spin the levels. When he's done, he doesn't belch and his stomach isn't swollen with air, and I don't have to worry about choking.

My puppy figured this out right away and loved reached for her kibble. Without this, she would eat all her food in seconds without chewing and have a belly ache

No loose pieces

I purchased several items for my new puppy. This is truly the best one. I fill it up with broth and freeze it and it provides entertainment for a long time.
