Meat and poultry ingredients must be sourced from animals that are not condemned, diseased, or that have died otherwise than by slaughter.

While there is not added sodium, the sodium is derived from the natural ingredients. This variety contains approximately 0.4% Sodium on an As-Fed basis (approximately 0.45% Sodium on a Dry Matter basis).

On the feeding guide it is recommended to feed your dog twice a day, is the feeding guide referring to each feeding (cups) or total for the daily intake ?

If you love your dog feed him or her Orijen!

I have been trying for the better part on my dogs life to help him with his seasonal allergy's : ( He has been on steroids and occasional antibiotics all his life

I have been trying for the better part on my dogs life to help him with his seasonal allergy's : ( He has been on steroids and occasional antibiotics all his life. Until about is 9th birthday I woke up and realized the Doctors are all wrong (to a degree). We are just bandaging the problem and keeping his Dr employed lol. So I started on our journey for his sake with strengthening his Immune System with herbal supplements and feeding him much better nutrition (Orijen Sr). This food has changed his life he is going to live out his remaining years COMFORTABLE! Hes now 14yrs old : )) God bless Orijen! he is literally bright eyed and bushy tailed. Please don't let the price stop you from this amazing food its worth every penny & your dog will thrive on it.

I adopted my first dog 14 years ago. Chaos had so many allergies and the first year we were in out of the vet's office more times than I care to admit. Eight years ago I finally switched her food to Acana (an Orijen derivative). Her vitality and health increased and we became long distance runners together. Today, both of my senior dogs, Chaos and Serenity, are on the Orijen Senior after years of Acana flavors. At 16 Chaos is still playing with Great Dane puppies at doggie daycare every week and Serenity is a very healthy service dog. Even with her 10 year old gray muzzle, she's still on point as my service dog. No dental issues in either dog, no organ complications, and only minor arthritis in the 16 year old. I believe in this brand 100% and both of my dogs are proof that great health starts with a great diet!

With my 2 senior Siberian huskies, their eating habits have always been challenging. A recent home sale and relocation had greatly effected both dogs in a negative way. After a few months of health concerns and vet visits that lead to a mysterious diagnosis of home sick. We switched to Origen, following recommendations to introduce a new food, within a few weeks they both perked up. Getting adjusted to the new food and environment of apartment living took some time but now they both are eating on schedule and stool has returned to a healthy condition! We never imagined their emotional state during the move, but Origen helped getting back to normal.

My Maltese was raised on Orijen original and ate if for 16 years. Then last February he had a terrible cough and vet advised to take to a cardiologist. I thought he was a healthy dog, but things changed when the cardiologist advised he had heart, lung and kidney problems. I had to change his diet and tried Hill's K/D dry and wet, Blue Buffalo senior canned, Hill's W/D wet and he would eat it for a while then he wouldn't. Was buying roast chicken and giving him the white meat only with some steamed carrots and rice. Again he would eat it, then he wouldn't. Would you believe he wasn't interested in white meat chicken!!!! The doc said I could feed him any senior dog food because its lower in salt, which he needs because of his illnesses. So I tried the Orijen senior again, which I had fed him in the past. He seems to love it and eats every morsel, every time. Makes my life much easier and less stressful.

Rescued a 7yo doberman with kidney problems. All other "premium" were causing severe incontinence including prescription foods. Tried this last since it is the most expensive and it saved her. No more incontinence, she looks and acts like a young dobe now. I will never use any other brand and forever grateful to ORIJEN for not cutting food quality for profit. Please give this a try if you are able to afford it and you believe diet is worsening your dogs medical issues as they get older. I now get to have a happy 6-8 yrs with my dog because ORIJEN is a true pet company that puts health/safety above profit. THANK YOU ORIJEN FOR SAVING MY DOG

I did my research and knew this was an excellent healthy dog food from a wonderful manufacturer but it did not come in small bites so I was not sure if my newly adopted six and a half pd rescue chi already missing some teeth would accept it. I figured I would try a bag and if she didn't take to it I could donate and it would not go to waste. Well she took a sniff and loved it. No problem with the size of the kibble as she just Wolfs them down dry with no problem. A couple of weeks on the food and what a difference in her appearance. She filled out beautifully and looks so much healthier. This is a quality organic food and well worth the money.

Orijen offers fresh ingredients, no grain, and no additives. It's expensive, but well worth it! I do think that Orijen needs to re-evaluate it's feeding guidelines,

Orijen offers fresh ingredients, no grain, and no additives. It's expensive, but well worth it! I do think that Orijen needs to re-evaluate it's feeding guidelines, though. The daily amount recommended on the Senior Dog kibble bag is far less than what it should be. I have an inactive 87-lb senior Doberman (large and lean), and it recommends feeding 2.5 cups daily for an 88-lb "less active" dog. At 4 cups a day, he was losing weight, something he didn't need to be doing as he was already lean, so I upped it to 5 cups/day, and that seemed to stop the weight loss. Same applies to the Adult Dog kibble. My active 50-lb Pittie mix is solid muscle and lean. The bag recommends feeding 2.75 cups daily for a 66-lb dog, and I have to feed 3 cups/daily just to maintain her weight of 50-lbs.

At ages 15 & 17 1/2 yrs, I thought the transition to a grain free food might be a challenge but the only challenge was that this food is larger pieces than they were used to. I thought I might have to put it through a food processor but they both took right to the food and had no difficulty. They have both gained some weight in just the 1 1/2 weeks I have been feeding it and the older dog actually has had more spring in her step the last few days. They do get one home cooked meal once a day but I notice after they eat it, they also have some of the Orijen. I may have to watch their weight which I haven't ever had to do. I am very happy to see them really enjoying their food!

I have been looking for years to find a grain-free senior dog food. My girl is 9 years old and I try to keep her in good physical condition. She has had both ACL's repaired over the years and joint supplements are a must. I love that this is a 5 Star food with added vitamins and minerals. I'd like to slowly remove her other supplements from her diet and rely solely on this food. This will justify the high price. Also, she is 75-80lbs and has been maintaining her weight and high energy levels on 2 cups a day of Orijen Senior. Even though she is a senior, she still runs with me and goes to the dog park and doggie daycare.

I am a vet ast... daughter is a Registered Dietitian. We are ONE PICKY FAMILY when it comes to dogfood. Been searching for a few years for a senior diet formulated to go easy on aging kidneys - NOT AS A WT LOSS DIET. On Orijen Sr Annie has GREAT MUSCLE TONE and GREAT SKIN. She has more spunk and looks (and feels) years younger than she did on other premium sr diets. We just wanted an appropriate diet to keep her healthy/active and we found it - ORIJEN SR.
