My search for quality puppy dog kibble ended when I found Orijen Amazing Grains for large breed dogs! Love it does not have any gross meal or bad fillers. I was a little hesitant though reading some pups had diarrhea, but I transitioned my pup very slowly. At first he stools got soft but mixed cottage cheese with pumpkin puree for 3 days with each serving and it firmed up stools and everything resolved without needing to add it in again. My pup is very happy and looks forward to feeding time. Side note I did have to evacuate feeding amount because my guy is a large standard poodle so turns out he needed more calories having grown so much in short time so vet recommended more food than what package recommended. I find Orijen cheaper than paying for homemade food while still a puppy needing so much more at this time. When he’s fully grown I may do a combo of both.

I did a ton of research on what food to buy my new Golden Retriever Puppy and really had a lot of trouble deciding in the weeks leading up to getting him. Reading all of the concerns about the potential that grain free diets may be linked to canine dilated cardiomyopathy took a lot of the premium grain free food off the table for us. I considered raw and in the end decided that it would be too much work because I would have prepared it myself. I was so relieved to find that Orijen had this new grain inclusive formula and decided to try it. We were transitioning from the food the breeder sent home with us to Orijen and at the half-way point, mixing 50% of the old with 50% of the new, he started to pick the Orijen food out and leave the old food in his dish. At this point, we are at less than 1/3 old food and will start feeding only Orijen tomorrow because he refuses to eat any of the old, in spite of the fact that we are only feeding on the low end of the minimum amount of food. He has had zero digestive issues and we are extremely happy with our choice at this point.

Better than Orijen's other Puppy Kibble
I recently switched from Orijen Puppy Grain Free Large Breed to Amazing Grains Puppy Large due to the fact it has 90% Animal Ingredients whereas the Grain Free formula
I recently switched from Orijen Puppy Grain Free Large Breed to Amazing Grains Puppy Large due to the fact it has 90% Animal Ingredients whereas the Grain Free formula has 85% Animal Ingredients. Another contributing factor in my decision to switch from the grain free formula to the Amazing Grains formula is due to the fact it has 750 IU/kg of Vitamin E where the Grain free formula does not. Moreover, not all grains are created equal. Amazing Grains formula actually uses amazing grains; Chia, Quinoa and Whole Oats. Orijen came up with the perfect name (Amazing Grains) to describe what's in the bag. Many Grains are cheap fillers, not the case with Amazing Grains. To say this is the most Amazing Puppy Kibble on the planet is an understatement. It's worth every penny and then some. Please understand you pay for this. Amazing Grains cost more than Grain free for a smaller bag. The Grain free formula comes in a 25 LBS bag and it costs less than the 22.5 LBS bag of Amazing Grains formula.

My two pups absolutely love it. They're coats are so soft and shiny. Is loaded with probiotics to aide in digestion which is great since I have two bulldogs which are prone to bloat. My victorian bulldog is over 40lbs at 5 months. Not over weight just fed really nutritional food, plenty of exercise, and lots of rest and recovery. My olde english bulldog is 30lbs at 5 months and very trim and athletic despite weighing 5lbs over what she should be at her age. I am very happy with Orijen. Won't feed my pups anything else.
Good Ingredients, but…
I breed Working Line German Shepherds. I had a litter of puppies on a different brand of food and they were doing wonderfully on it BUT no stores near me carry it;
I breed Working Line German Shepherds. I had a litter of puppies on a different brand of food and they were doing wonderfully on it BUT no stores near me carry it; I can only order it online. I wasn’t paying attention to our food supply and we ran out before I could order another bag. I stumbled across this formula and it was the most similar to what they were eating so I bought a bag. The puppies transitioned to it just fine with no stomach upset BUT this kibble is so dusty. I’m not sure if it’s just the bag I purchased. I hand feed/work my puppies for their food and how dusty this kibble is just made a huge mess. The ingredients are great and I’ve had no issues other than the dust but for that reason, we will be switching back to what we previously fed once our new bag comes in the mail.

The ingredient list is perfect for my large breed puppy although I worried a little about the high protein level. I would say it is worth the price. My pup seemed semi interested when we first started to introduce as a quarter of her meal. By the time we got to the half stage integration she would not touch her food without a heavy dose of topping, and picked around the Orijen. We think she does not like the fish smell which is evident when you open the bag. This week she would not touch her food until I switched back to her old food. I had called Orijen and asked for a sample prior to purchase because I know I have a picky eater, but they do not offer samples. This food did not cause digestive upset which has been a problem in the past with other premium kibble so that is a strong point for the food.

Pup seems to be very interested in this one, after one week being on origin large puppy hot spot seem to back off and after one bag was gone thru coat seems to grow back on those spots she was bitting on. Over all she does better on it.

I have two dogs on this food. Ingredients read above average. They still have loose stool. Most likely because they over-cook all the nutrition out and/or preservatives make it hard to digest? It is almost impossible to find dog food without natural flavor, which is usually code for diacetyl, the fake butter put in microwave popcorn, that can lead to cancer and brain disorders. Diacetyl/natural flavor is the chemical in Doritos that make them irresistible, but the long-term effects on the brain are likely why there is so much dementia around. Natural Flavor is in almost everything.

At first I thought it was because it was new but after a few days ended up at vet - we tried meds and then 1 week later ended up back at vets and it was decided that her digestive issues was related to this food so we stopped it- chewy processed the return and I shipped it back!
