Do these sink or float ?

Answer by ChewyApr 27, 2020
Omega One Freeze-Dried Blood Worms Freshwater & Marine Fish Treat float initially when you put them on the water. However, after being in there for awhile, and the agitation of surface water from filters/skimmers they can start sinking. You can also release these underwater and they will sink right away.

Everything in my tank, (cherry shrimp, ember tetra and snails) go crazy over these once I found a proper way to serve it. Did the “open and drop a cube in the tank” that seems most obvious, and they avoided the cube. After some looking on forums and seeing a few fish YouTube channels the method of “wet and drop feed” works the best. Scoop some tank water, set the cube in it. Let it soak and soften, then spread and ensure it’s a wide spread slurry now. Using a food dropper and drop the pippettes contents a little over the intended fish and they will lunge and clear the feeding cloud before it sinks any further. They seem to love the brine slurry more than the flake or pellets.

I bought these for our office betta as he didn't seem very interested in his flake food for the first couple of days we had him. Maybe he was just adjusting because he ended up taking the flakes very nicely, but he hunted and devoured these worms! It was so cute watching him gobble them up, and he did it with gusto! Definitely recommend!

I really like Omega One's selection of foods. From frozen to freeze-dried, Omega One has some of the very best fish foods on the market, and they surely excelled with their freeze-dried bloodworms! Unlike other brands, Omega one's bloodworms have less dust, and more "meat". Usually, when buying any freeze-dried product, it's expected that you'll get dust and shells from whatever it was being processed, but Omega One keeps it to a minimum! Feed as a treat, or to vary diet, freeze-dried is cheaper to feed than frozen or live foods, and are significantly less nutritious, but they're still great to feed your fish! Be sure to soak them in water before feeding, as they can bloat sensitive fish, and also be aware that people have had adverse reactions to breathing in the dust from bloodworms. If you're particularly sensitive, or have allergies, just be cautious!

I have a small 20 gallon with a couple of guppies, neon tetras, glowlight tetras, a ghost shrimp and two mystery snails. The guppies go nuts over these as well as a couple of the tetras. Anything that falls to the bottom gets eaten by the shrimp and the snails, as there's never any left over. I've noticed the colors in the tetras that eat them to be more vivid and shiny as well, and the guppies are gorgeous! The ounce-age seems small, but one jar seems to last forever here. Going on one month and counting with most of the jar left and feeding as a meal 2-3 times a week. Love this!

My beta reacted to the dry worm as a fierce predator. He tore and swallowed the entire worm in one gulp. This was the first time I saw him act out with such drive to any beta food. He is just crazy about it. I feed him pellets 3 times daily and now the dry worms. He welcomes me dancing around with his spectacular "dumbo ears" and half moon fins. The dried worms are a keeper in his diet. It is so much fun to see him enjoying them.

I have 10 aquariums. I bought this to feed my betta - drop 4-5 pieces in. He'll go for it, eat 1-2 enthusiastically, and then loses interest after he remembers that it's not really his favorite. Could be he's spoiled by my feeding him live bloodworms that are raised on quality food. Betta is more excited for the Betta Flake Medley from Tetra than this. But I'll keep feeding it to him for variety. In any case, the oranda goldfish will gobble this up but you know how goldfish are - they eat EVERYTHING. I have live bloodworms at hand, which is not as convenient to pick from as this freeze-dried. It's decent for freeze-dried so I'd recommend it.

Should be rehydrated before feeding!

I switched from frozen to freeze dried for delivery convenience and learned the hard way when the male Angel fish I’d had for 2 years developed swim bladder disease

I switched from frozen to freeze dried for delivery convenience and learned the hard way when the male Angel fish I’d had for 2 years developed swim bladder disease and couldn’t recover. He was the only one of several fish eating them that wouldn’t wait for them to begin to sink. A good product but needs to be rehydrated before feeding.

Quality

The cubes are easy to break into smaller bits for my tiny fish. It will last me a long time before I have to buy more. My Angel fish seem to love it.
