Gradually transition your pet to any new food over the course of 7-14 days to help avoid the digestive upset that abrupt changes in diet can cause. If your pet tends to be on the sensitive side, it may be best to take a little extra time.
- Start by feeding your pet a mix of 25% new food and 75% old food for the first few days.
- Then, increase the amount of new food to about 50% and feed that half-and-half mix for a few days.
- Proceed to feeding 75% new food/25% old food for the next few days.
- Complete the transition by feeding just the new food on its own.

I received the Nutrena Loyall Life Large Breed Adult Dog Food, Beef & Barley Recipe, 40 lbs, free to try. I have 2 pit mixes, one will eat mostly anything the other is ridiculously picky. Both dogs gobbled this food right up. As soon as the box arrived and I opened it, they both were over smelling the bag. The kibble is the perfect size, not super small, but not overly large like sometimes kibble is when made for large breeds. I really like that this food has no junk in it. No corn, wheat, soy, artificial colors or flavors. And no byproducts. All real ingredients including fruits and vegetables. I also like that it has glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate for joint support, which is so important for larger breeds. It also has prebiotics and probiotics which is an added bonus. Overall this is a really good food. The only sticking point for me is when you have 2 large dogs, the price is a little high.

Great large breed dog food! I love that there’s already joint supplements built into the food and it saves me money! This is super important for my shepherds that are known to have joint issues from time to time. I want my doggos to last a long time and this will help! My dogs also love the taste of this! They love it so much that they broke into the pantry and helped themselves to more food, something they’ve never done with different brands. My “hard keeper” that is typically on the thin side and very finicky loves this food and has kept a great weight. My other dog, a chunky monkey, has also maintained a healthy weight, without packing on the pounds. Their sensitive stomachs adapted easily to this food and there was consistency in their poops. (Gross but necessary detail if you have sensitive big dogs like me.). Overall, the dogs love it, I love that I don’t have to feed additional supplements and my dogs are getting a well rounded food without any potential allergens and my dog’s digestion has been unfazed! We recommend this food!

My dog really seems to enjoy Loyall Life Large Breed Beef and Barley Recipe Adult dry dog food. I slowly introduced it to her, i mixed it with her original dry dog food she already ate and I gradually increased the new dry dog food amount over a course of a week. It smells good enough for my cat to be very interested in it but i dont personally notice a smell. My greyhound poops are a nice size and very firm and easy to pick up. I am not used to getting 40 pounds of dog food in a bag, usually the bags of dry food i purchase come in a 30 pound bag. So i had to use two food storage containers, which is a wonderful problem to have. My only thought of improving the product would be the packaging, i wish the bag would reseal. I plan on purchasing this dry food after my dog finishes it up because i get 10 more pounds dog food and i will save money and my dog loves it.

When I first opened the bag of Nutrena Loyall Life Large Breed Beef and Barley Recipe Adult Dog Food, I was surprised at the kibble size. I made sure it wasn't too big for my pup by hand feeding her a few pieces. It was no problem at all. She didn't hesitate and come dinner time, she obviously was a fan. Probably because beef is the #1 ingredient. But it also has L-Carnitine to help maintain ideal weight as well as Omega-6 and Omega-3 fatty acids for skin and coat health. Most importantly for me, no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. I think I have found our new favorite dry food.

When I shop for dog food, I am always looking for large breed specific. I have two German shepherds. One is getting a little older and I like that this has the glucosamine chondroitin in it. It also has pre- and post-biotics, and it’s made with real ingredients. It’s nothing special to look at. But my dogs seem to like it. They did not refuse it, but at the same time they didn’t go hog wild on the new food either. I did transition them over a few days, but honestly probably not long enough one of them did vomit one time. But I think that’s more my fault than anything.

What's more, it's apparently very tasty!! Poop quality is great on it, and named meat is the first ingredient. We're all satisfied over here!
