I took a photo from another review. I could not agree more! The push top wastes so much product and makes a mess. My golden retriever had elbow surgery at 1 year only. The physical therapy center where she had her rehab therapy recommended this product. My golden retriever has had a complete recovery. I don’t attribute the success to any one thing - I think it was a combination of a great surgeon, amazing vet after care, the physical therapy center center treatments, and the right supplements and nutrition. She gets this and 1 other supplement that I am very happy with. However, if I keep getting this new defective top I will switch to a different oil. The amount that leaks out is a lot, it just throwing money away. The surgery and everything else was expensive, there isn’t an amount that is too much to spend on my girls, but not to just throw in the garbage.

I’ve been using this for awhile and the supplement itself is good and was recommended by my vet. However, the past couple of bottles have a different style of lid from past bottles, and it’s made it messier and a little leaky. I wish I’d kept one of the old lids. You have to wash your hands after opening and closing it. I do have the lid screwed on tightly. It’s the top part that’s leaking.

Bottles are no longer SEALED??

I've been using this product for a number of years now, and I will agree w/ a lot of the reviews here that the "new" spout is not that great, BUT what I'm referring to is something else. My latest auto-ship of 3 bottles that I rec'd were NOT SEALED at all on the INSIDE of the cap - where you have to first unscrew the cap and THEN remove a SEAL or barrier that you must then remove in order to deliver the liquid - which of course are usually difficult to remove (and I think we all know what I'm referring to) but that part is fine and what we've all become accustomed to dealing with nowadays. This "SEAL" had ALWAYS been there in my prior auto-shipments of 3 bottles, and existed when I used to buy this from my Vet years ago. In fact, it even existed in my prior shipment when they had made the change to the now "unpopular" spout. I did call Chewy to inquire about this (not expecting that they would have any knowledge of this change), but it did seem ODD that NUTRAMAX would suddenly make this change right on the heals of the spout change and not even bother mentioning it in the packaging in some way - so I did let Chewy know about it. I hate to sound like a "Paranoid Pete", but I think we've all become accustomed to this type of packaging when it comes to our everyday food and liquid items we now buy from supermarkets for ourselves and families - AND FOR GOOD REASON, but it certainly did give me pause when I just discovered this (Oct 17, 2025) which is why I did make the call to Chewy to inquire about this. I was told that they would make the same inquiry to the manufacturer and let me know how they respond to this (if they do), but it did cause me a bit of concern when I saw this. I just wish NUTRAMAX would just STOP messing around with the bottle once and for all! As for the actual performance of the product itself, it's one of those items YOU HOPE is providing a healthy benefit for your pet, but obviously it's not something you'll be able to witness quickly or even in the short term. Like most people I'm simply hopeful that it does help my 2 dogs when it comes to their long term health - fingers crossed!

This product is great! I’ve always had the squeezable tops, but in my last chewy order it was a push lid top, which was not good at all. Oil gets everywhere- very messy. Thank goodness I saved my last lid from my old bottle and just used that one on my new bottle. Old, good bottle top is attached in picture.

It’s only been a few weeks, but my doggy is tolerating it as a topper to her kibble and (while I may be imagining it) she seems less stiff. I am massaging her and using heating pad. And gabapentin and Carprofen for pain. I am hoping this is the missing ingredient to bring her relief and prolong our quality time with her. Hoping time will tell in the next month or so.

Recently I had to start seeing a new vet as my previous vet sadly retired , however my new vet recommended this for my 16 year old Cattledog mix who has bad arthritis in her hips even after just about a month of using welactin she is getting up much easier and going up and down stairs easier I also have 3 other dogs that I am giving this too and their coat seems so much better especially after the long hard winter we had here in western New York there’s less itching from dryness in the house

I have used this product for a little over a year. I am happy with the results it shows in my dogs. I always had a flip top lid until my last order where I got a different style lid. The new style is very messy, the oil gets all over the lid, runs down the bottle, makes a mess of your hands and the area you store this product. I much preferred the old lid where no product came out unless you squeezed the bottle.

Help Clear My Dog's Ear Infections!

My vet highly recommended adding Welactin into my senior pitbull's diet just for the overall benefits. I decided to also give it to my other dog, after we realized

My vet highly recommended adding Welactin into my senior pitbull's diet just for the overall benefits. I decided to also give it to my other dog, after we realized he would need to have one of his back leg's amputated. I figured it would be good for his joints. He always had some dandruff, and being a hound, often got ear infections. During the whole amputation and healing process I honestly never even noticed how shiny his coat was (half of it was shaved off at that point) and he hadn't had any ear infections. A few more months went by and I stopped giving him Welactin, to swap it for another supplement. A few weeks later he had an ear infection. When I took him to the vet, he actually recommended adding in an omega-3 for him too, and that's when I realized the Welactin had been making such a difference. He had also started getting some dandruff again. He's now back on the Welactin, and no dandruff or ear issues since. My senior pitbull also has a beautiful coat and is in great health too. She's also on Dasuquin, and we love Nutramax products! I highly recommend this if you're just looking for a good quality omega-3 for your pooch or you're struggling with some skin/ear issues. I find the liquid form easy to use. I just drizzle it over their dinner every night.

My oldest girl was diagnosed with Cushing's Disease in 2015. It is well controlled with medication, but Cushing's contributes to a lower immune system, so she has gotten a couple of UTIs and her skin/fur is not as glossy as it used to be. Her vet recommended Welactin and it has helped a lot. Her coat is much softer and silkier, and her skin seems healthier. One (really weird) plus is that it has helped her poop. She always had squishy poop that was hard to pick up on our walks, but now, her poop is much firmer and easier to collect. It has to be the Welactin because nothing else has changed in her diet. She is a 13 year old All-American mix and while she has slowed down, she is still very perky and playful and I want her to stay that way as long as possible. Love that Chewy's prices are much better than anywhere else too.

You waste so much product with the scoop. Who thought to use a scoop for oil? It's messy and I waste a LOT of a very expensive product all over my counters. A pump makes more sense or even some kind of dropper that you pull out of the bottle. Anything other than the weird scoop that just wastes at least a quarter of the product. I've never seen other products use a scoop for oil. I guess if the goal is to make me waste a quarter of the product... Anyway it does work but we will probably look for other solutions next year due to the mess and waste. Too expensive to buy multiple bottles with no discount.
