I have an 11.5 yr old Golden Retriever who has issues with leaf mold spores. If she's going to be on trails covered in leaves, I plan on rinsing her feet when we get home. She deals with some skin itchiness despite food trials and removing food triggers (chicken is a big one for her.) She also has had chronic pancreatitis for the past 3 years and is on a low fat food. I was very interested in this product because I was not aware of the research on palmitoylethenolamide (PEA - not from peas!), or the use of hardy kiwi extract (not the same as regular kiwi we eat) and how they can benefit dogs. I use specific supplements to help support her medications. Helping to reduce inflammation is a big deal for any senior dog. I was surprised I saw any improvement at all in just the 2 weeks she's been on it. Normally a full month or more is needed for most supplements. Biggest bonus, no issues with her pancreatitis. I even let my 9 mo old Golden have a half a one, mostly as a taste tester, and she also had no GI impact. Your mileage may vary. On to taste: my senior Golden eats everything. She swallows these whole. She does drool when I pull out the bag, which is not normal for her. I break them in half since she just swallow it. The texture described as chewy is an understatement. They sort of have an eraser like texture. It's why my 9 mo old Golden offered her services as a taste tester. She will spit things out and consider if I'm trying to posion her or not. I was very surprised that she was all over this. It took her a little while to chew the half she was given, but she loves these things. Now she's a pest when my senior is dosed. I wish I had been aware of PEA (not peas!) and Hardy Kiwi before now. My senior would have been on it. Beta-glucans are important, and these 2 isolated out specifically is unique. I plan on keeping my senior on this for skin benefits as well as other reasons.

My 11 year old AmStaff has suffered from allergies most of his life. Something undetermined in the environment causes his white paws to go bright red every late summer/fall in Nebraska and he still had some issues in Florida. He's been on daily Zyrtec for 7+ years and apoquel for the flare ups. I've tried baths, Epsom salts, wipes, duoxo mousse, balms, hydrocortisone sprays, probiotic sprays, chlorhexidine solutions, at least 5 different probiotics, salmon oils, EPA/DHA supplements, and now prescription food for the last 8 months. Four veterinarians all suggesting different things and I stopped short of cytopoint injections because his anxiety at the vet went through the roof after so many years of being poked and prodded. Finally, one vet suggested Dermaquin and in less than 2 weeks I noticed the "normal" pinkness between the toes was going away. I had completely forgotten it WASN'T NORMAL! After a month, there was visible white hair between the toes and I couldn't remember seeing white hairs since he was a puppy. He's getting his daily dose and I'm hoping to get through this season without a flare up, but so far there's already obvious and rapid improvements! I do have to say I agree with the one comment saying the texture is like an eraser...it's not a very soft chew at all so be wary if your puppers needs this cut in half or quarters, but it's absolutely worth the money to try.

My dogs are absolutely obsessed with Nutramax Dermaquin skin support chews. They think they’re getting a treat, which makes it so easy to give them. One of my dogs has skin issues and sometimes gets bald patches, but I’ve already noticed the fur growing back faster than usual since starting these. I’m hopeful it might even stop the problem altogether, but only time will tell. Either way, I’ll definitely be buying more because they go crazy the second they see the bag.

My dog has severe skin allergies and is on prescription medication, so when I learned about this product, I decided to try it. I know that supplements from NUTRAMAX are outstanding, so I felt confident in giving them a try. And it's been about a week, but they do seem to be helping (less licking of his paws, etc). In fact, just today I cut his prescription medication in half. Between the cold weather and the Dermaquin, I'm hopeful he will do better--or at least as well as with the full dose of the prescription medication.

Great option for strengthening the skin barrier. My 16 year old pup with skin allergies and hyperthyroidism started taking this to repair lost hair spots and itchy dry skin. I thought it was gimick'y but I was proved wrong, her coat did a complete turnaround, all missing hair spots have regrown fully and her coat is super soft and no longer itchy. Also has therapeutic amount of omegas so good for our senior pups cognitive as well. We also used DermAlly oatmeal spray in addition to this and I highly recommend both products, esp if skin is need of repair.

I think it’s actually helping!

I have a new foster dog with a bunch of health issues. She’s also got a few behavioral problems and doesn’t like being bathed frequently and can even get a little snappy and growled at me over having her head washed so while the vet wanted me to do weekly medicated bathes for her skin, it’s not really an option for the itchy neck and face skin due to sensitivity with washing she has currently. I ordered some allergy meds (Numelvi) but I’m not sure she even needs them now. I also was using some medicated Miconahex triz foam and caladryl clear and both those were helping some but I was having to use them daily or multiple times daily and she was still raw and red in some areas. She also stunk so bad. Like yeasty corn chips and just gross funk. She is on antibiotics which might be helping with whatever is going on but even the cytopoint shot didn’t help with her constant scratching and digging at her neck, face and belly along with constant feet licking and chewing. My old vet who is a friend of mine recommended I give her this supplement and I started her on it about 2 weeks ago and slowly the scratching and licking has reduced significantly. Like REALLY significantly. So much so she doesn’t have any redness and scratch marks around her neck and face anymore even though I’m no longer giving her bathes since over a week ago and I haven’t used any of the anti itch Miconahex Triz foam or caladryl around her neck for at least 4 days. The smell was really funky when I first got her 7 weeks ago and nothing helped except a good medicated bath but now she only has a hint of the corn chip funky smell she did have. She’s so much more tolerable to be around since she is no longer as pungent and she is sleeping better now that she’s not waking up to scratch at herself every few hours it seemed like. She woke me up at night scratching sometimes. I’m not sure if it’s this supplement or not but it seems like it’s got to be helping at least somewhat so I plan to keep her on it.

You don’t see reduce in lesions (it’s not a medication) BUT noticed skin to be more stable and less new lesions. My dog did environmental allergies panel and is allergic to all grasses, some pollen but most importantly dust mites and storage mites. It’s hard to completely avoid exposure to allergen especially dust mites. My vet recommended taking this supplement in addition to immunotherapy. This supplement helps strengthen skin barriers and protects against allergens.

*Nutramax products are highly recommended - my Em has skin issues and when I saw Dermaquin offered I jumped at the chance for Em to have some relief from her very itchy skin - she’s only been on it a few days so it’s a bit early to see how it’s working - the ingredients in this product are good so I anticipate she will benefit from it.

Our 68-pound, 3-year-old hound mix dog has been taking this supplement for about a week. I wanted to try it because she has very itchy skin. She still scratches but not as often so I will continue with this product. She thinks this is a new treat and looks forward to getting her two chews each day. She wonders why she can't have more (or the whole bag).
