Does it cause constipation

Answer by ChewyMar 18, 2022
Denosyl has been shown to be well-tolerated by both dogs and cats with a wide margin of safety. We recommend consulting with your veterinarian before starting a new supplement regiment, as well as a follow-up to check on how well your pet is being on Denosyl.

Is this tablet chewable? If not, how is it recommended to administer it without food?

Answer by ChewyFeb 19, 2023
This is a tablet and should not be split or crumbled. Tablets should be given on an empty stomach for optimal absorption. They may be given at least two hours after a meal or one hour before a meal. It is recommended for pet owners to administer 3-6 cc of water immediately following any tablet administration to speed passage of the tablet into the stomach.

Can the 225mg be cut in half?

Answer by ChewySep 28, 2021
Tablets should not be cut or split. Because the tablet must be kept intact to prevent destruction by moisture, administration range is based on the nearest whole-tablet.

Does Denosyl 225 mg require a prescription

Answer by ChewyDec 16, 2020
Denosyl does not require a prescription.

Emmy came to us as a rescue dog five years ago. She was about four years old. Our vet in NY recommended Denosyl when Emmy's liver cirrhosis was diagnosed. The results have been very positive and her liver tests are much improved. We are very pleased with this product and Chewy.com's price is a good one. We will continue to use Denosyl and we pray Emmy remains healthy and happy for a long time. She is a Schnoodle dog, part schnauzer and part poodle.

My min pin has chronic elevated liver enzymes due to Cushings disease. She's been on Nutramax Denosyl (along with Milk Thistle) for a few years now. I really feel that it helps keep her liver under control. And Chewy is cheaper than my vet,, which is a plus! It needs to be given on an empty stomach. I just wrap it in a piece of a pill pocket just big enough to encapsulate this fairly large pill. I give it to her 2 hours after her breakfast and if I forget she reminds me. I'm thankful for Chewy's quality products and great service that helps me better care for my pets.

When Chewy ran out of Denamarin, I panicked because it's one of my Sheltie's main meds and she really needs it. I emailed them and they told me about a sub they had. So far, so good and my Denamarin is on it's way. This company goes above and beyond for their customers. Best company I've ever dealt with.

Great Holistic Product

Years ago one of my dog's liver tests came back elevated. My vet strongly suggested I give her Denosyl. I trust him so I started her on it. She did remarkably well!! Now I have 3 senior dachshunds, 2 with slightly elevated readings and 1 that has liver disease. I’m expecting the 2 that aren’t bad will have normal readings in a few months and while Moose won’t get better, we expect the Denosyl will slow down the progress. Denosyl is a great product. I highly recommend it for any dog with abnormal liver results.

Excellent Progress on this

A neurologist at a well respected Veterinary Teaching Hospital for small animals recommended this after my dog showed signs of decreasing brain size in an MRI.

A neurologist at a well respected Veterinary Teaching Hospital for small animals recommended this after my dog showed signs of decreasing brain size in an MRI. It was diagnosed as cognitive decline related to age. The rehabilitation person who has been working with him said she believed the supplement has improved his life, and we agree. We take three a day on an empty stomach. The only time he had to vomit was when I gave him two pills close together making a total of four pills in 24 hours. My bad. The dog weighs about 65-70 pounds.

My dog is 12 and has been diabetic for 3 years. She developed a cough which developed because her liver is so enlarged it was pressing on her diaphram. I ordered this supplement and within a week her cough improved and two weeks now she rarely coughs. I am looking forward to her next xray in 2 weeks to see if her liver has gone down which it must have. I am very pleased with this product!

Our Scottie has bladder cancer so is on several types of medication. She has been on chemo therapy for over 600 days and her liver enzymes have always been extremely high, however, after being on the Denosyl tablets her liver enzymes have come down considerably. She is holding her own and we are thankful for any medication that makes her more comfortable.

Excellent support for dog's liver function during chemo.

The Nutramax Denosyl Tablets were recommended by our Internal Medicine Vet to support our dog's liver during the 26 week chemo protocol for her lymphoma cancer

The Nutramax Denosyl Tablets were recommended by our Internal Medicine Vet to support our dog's liver during the 26 week chemo protocol for her lymphoma cancer. We are just completing week 14 and her liver enzymes have actually improved to a normal level. Good news is she is in remission.
