Did the formula change recently? The soft chews shape is flatter than usual and my dog who usually loves her daily chew is now avoiding altogether :.(

Answer by danielleJun 11, 2026
MY DOG IS DOING THIS TOO. Something had to have changed. They look different and my dog will not eat them

Why is the dosage double for the first 4 to 6 weeks?

Answer by BeccaFeb 02, 2026
It's what is called a "loading dose" which gets the medication or supplements into the system at the levels needed to do their job. Then the single tab is a "maintenance dose" which keeps those working levels steady.

What wt. is considered medium or large

I have a 15 year old who has been taking these chews from my hand for over 5 years every morning. This new bag of chews which smell different and are smaller are a no go for him. He just looked at me and spit it out. There is no convincing him. So y change what has always worked? Mad about it!

I have a 14 year old female Brittany with arthritis and joint pain. I started her on this a couple of years ago, I stopped for a couple of weeks and she was not moving well. Once she started back there was a major improvement and I'll never stop using them. I was skeptical at first, and now I have two relatives and a friend who I suggested the product to and they now swear by it. If I didn't see the noticeable improvements with my own eyes I would remain doubtful. Now 4 dogs are doing so much better, this stuff is awesome.

I’ve been giving this to my dog at my vet’s recommendation for years (she’s 5). I opened my most recent bag and the chews are literally half the size they used to be. They also changed the ingredients and added something called Avocado/Soybean Unsaponifiables Powder. Several reputable sources suggest feeding avocado to a dog is not a great idea. I will not purchase this again and want to make sure others are aware.

They arrived dried out. I got some samples from my vet to ensure my dog would eat them, as she can be picky. I decided to order from Chewy for convenience and cost. Unfortunately you can see from the color difference that they aren’t as fresh as the ones from the vets office. *The top 3 (cut in half for small breed) are from the vets office.

My best buddy Blakey is getting up in years (11.5) and is showing signs of arthritis. At her last checkup in June, her wonderful vet, Dr. Garner, recommended this product. Blakey has been taking it for almost 3 weeks and she is showing improvement in walking and is a bit more playful. If this continues and improves her quality of life, it's two thumbs up for me!

This is a great product and seems to have helped my lab-mix Churro. So, I ordered another bag and was surprised when I opened it to combine the last few chews with the new ones. The new one are significantly smaller. They are for the same size dog, with the same number inside, but the older ones are 25-30% bigger. There is no weight on the bag to see if that aspect changed because we all know about shrinkflation. Also, the number of chews to give a dog/weight class is still the same, so I am not sure why they are so noticeably different (see photo)...If my dog continues to do well, I will keep ordering them.

I have two mixed breed boys who do agility classes weekly, and AKC Agility Dog trials from time to time on weekends. One of my boys is just more sensitive to things than the other. Harry, dislikes the cold, and seems bothered by aches and pains. He started to take the stairs more slowly at nighttime and it seemed his hips bothered him a bit. My trainer suggested this product. Since we have added it to his breakfast kibble each morning, for years now, he bounds up the stairs and his soreness seems to stay away. He still enjoys a good hip massage though!

My Tank, the English bulldog, broke his elbow at 16 weeks. He had a pin and a screw for his entire life afterwards. His orthopedic surgeon suggested that we give him this supplement, as he would likely develop arthritis quickly in that joint. He took it every day for his 12 year and 2 month life. He appeared to be comfortable and had very little arthritis.

Aarti is 11.5 yrs old with an old back injury & a kidney issue. We had started Dasuquin last fall but after 1 week, she couldn't get up on the bed. At that point new bloodwork was done, she was still stable, vet & I decided to try a mild nsaid pain med & a kidney kibble that also had joint supplements in it. Big mistake on our part. The pain meds just a few weeks later showed a very negative decline in her kidney health. On 12/21/2022 she went back on the Dasuquin, after 2 weeks she was more active & had an easier time on the stairs. It's now 4 weeks and she is just as happy, active & bouncy as she was on those pain meds. We are so pleased & I was skeptical that it would really work but it does! We are keeping her on the full starter dose for the initial 6 weeks & then going to the maintenance amount. At that point we will start our 8yr old on the same product. ps I also called them to see if it's ok that she swallows them whole & they said yes, no problem.

Our 15 year old yorkie had started having problems walking with her back legs, causing her to fall frequently. Our vet recommended Dasuquin Hip and Joint Supplement, and it has helped tremendously! She is 7 lbs. and I give her 1/2 of a chew for small to medium dogs. She absolutely loves the taste, even being such a finicky eater. I highly recommend!!!
