Is there a DM Cosequin. My vet wanted me to that one

There’s a DS (Double Strength) Cosequin with MSM that’s now called Cosequin Maximum Strength. I’ve used it for many years. There is also a product called Glycoflex that has an ingredient called N,N-Dimethylglycine HCl that’s abbreviated to DMG. You may want to double check with your vet if it’s the particular ingredient, DMG, or a particular strength, DS, that he wants you to use. Hope this helps a bit. I have been researching products this morning comparing ingredients when I noticed your question.

the MG on this is higher than the brand that I have been using and doesnt have msm in it. would this make your dog go to the bathroom more.

I've been using this brand in all 3 of my German Shepherds and haven't seen any issues with diarrhea or more frequent potty trips. Consider starting with 1 tablet or 1/2 a tablet (depending on the size of your dog) for the first few days and gradually move up to the recommended dose. Of course always consult you vet if you have concerns.

Is this something I can crush up and put in my dogs food?

Are any of the ingredients animal-based? My dog is allergic / has sensitivities to a *lot* of things.

We have a giant shepherd so we started this supplement when he was about 2. We just give him 1, a low maintenance amount for his size, and we can tell he’s more active while he’s on it vs when we run out. Also, he had a front dew claw amputated due to a MRSA infection a few years ago and now it’s causing arthritis-like symptoms at the age of 6. So we maxed out on this supplement and it did the world of good for him. He’s no longer limping or walking like an old man and can play with his friends.

My 7 year old heeler mix, Diva, started having her hips stiff up on her and less zoomies were being zoomed. I got her a different brand of hip supplement before trying Cosequin because she is VERY picky about what she eats and I was worried she wouldn’t eat these since they aren’t chewy or meaty. Of course she loved those, but after two months of seeing no difference we decided to try Cosequin. It arrived quickly and when I opened the bottle and looked at them I thought FOR SURE that Diva wasn’t going to eat them. They are basically chewable tablets. They do not look like, smell, or feel like treats. I was SHOCKED when Diva ate them!! It literally has not been an issue at all. It’s been 3 weeks and I haven’t seen her have ANY trouble while standing up after lying down for a while. She’s also been doing a lot more zoomies out in the yard. These tablets are a bit pricey, but they WORK. I am amazed. It’s like she’s years younger. I will keep her on this for the rest of her life. Forever customer!

No more whimpering while getting up and I don't take him for long walks any more so it was a combo. Scoobys been on this supplement for a couple yrs. 1 pill/day. He is 13 now in 2026. Large dog. Shepard/boxer mix. Worth it for my beloved old timer companion.

Our Lab/Blue Heeler mix, Max turned 9 years old a couple years ago. His knees and hips got so bad that he was pretty much unable to walk without a great deal of pain. I saw a commercial somewhere online while searching for something that would take away his pain and increase his mobility. I hated to think that we would have to put our precious boy down since he was almost completely unable to walk. It got so bad that I started looking at cremation for our precious boy. Then I found the Nutramax Cosequin online and decided that he was worth trying something that might bring back his mobility and take away his pain. We were also giving him pain meds to help him before we tried the Cosequin. I wasn't happy with that as the pain meds were acting harshly on his liver. After we started giving Max the Cosequin, It took about three weeks before we began to see a slow improvement in his mobility. He started moving better and better as time went on. We were dosing him with two tablets daily. By the end of two months, Max was starting to jump onto the couch to claim his favorite corner. He was walking so much better and even wanted to play some in the yard by chasing me and me chasing him with keep away ball. While Max is not his old puppy self, he does walk well and jump onto the couch without much effort. We are so very happy for him that Cosequin has given him back his mobility and given us a few more years to continue to love him and enjoy him. Thanks, Nutramax for helping our little boy,

This product is deserving of its positive reviews. My doxie injured his back in the past year and his hind end started dragging a bit. He still got around but struggling to do so and limited what he chose to do. So I started looking into a supplement for him and decided to give this a try. Followed the directions as indicated. There was definite improvement in just the first couple of weeks. He started moving better and doing a bit more of his usual prior activity. By month two he had started getting his little brisk trot back. Not a lot but he was moving so much better. He has now been taking this about six months and acts much younger than his eleven years. He still has a little rear foot drag going in and out over the door threshold but he definitely has his eager trot back. He even has a couple daily episodes where he will run with a toy around the couch. He just seems so much happier and feeling better. He takes the tablets just like a treat and looks forward to them every day. I would definitely recommend trying this product to anyone with an older dog. I’m glad I did!

WARNING!!! KILLED MY DOG- MADE BOTH OF THEM SICK- NEGATIVE 5 STARS IF I COULD

We gave regular Cosequin for years but switched to this one with MSM once I found out about it. Big mistake. Severe lower GI tract blowout with both of our elderly dogs, taking over 3 hours to clean up on two floors of the house. The oldest one, 13 years old, lost so much weight and didn't recover- she died painfully before the vet's opened and watching her die in my arms has traumatized me for life. Almost 4 hours of watching the life drain out of her. Our 11 year old lost weight but is still here, but we don't know if he has any damage. This product should come with a warning label. I don't trust Nutramax and won't be using or recommending Cosequin to anyone ever again. I wish I'd never seen there was a newer version with MSM. I take MSM and it didn't do this to me! My heart is breaking. DO NOT RECOMMEND- AS STRONGLY AS I CAN, IF YOU LOVE YOUR DOG WITH ALL YOUR HEART, DO NOT RISK A SEVERE NEGATIVE REACTION OR EVEN DEATH FROM USING THIS PRODUCT.

I ordered this for my Golden who had been having the standard hip issues for a few months, trouble getting up and leg shaking. Also not wanting to play fetch and laying down more. i picked this product because i used to work in a store selling equestrian products and the horse version of this was very popular. I seriously noticed a difference in Charlie after 5 days. He started getting up by himself easily sometimes and also wanted to play fetch the whole time I was doing yard work. Before I ordered this he had a few scary days where he wouldn't even get up to eat or walk. Yesterday was the 8th day of taking it and he followed me round the garden they entire time I was working. Previously he would want to go out but just lay. And both Charlie and my other dog love them! They are as excited to get them as they are when we give them treats. I should add that Charlie has always been VERY fussy with what he'll eat. I ordered the small size in case he hated them and have since ordered a large container.
