This puzzle toy with hidden treats was a great option for my senior dog. It kept her engaged and mentally stimulated, which I noticed really helped with her alertness and overall activity level. She enjoyed the challenge of finding the treats, and it gave her something fun to focus on without being too physically demanding. I had to file a few spots where the plastic was a little sharper than I liked but that was easy to do with a regular nail file. It was especially good for her as she got older but still needed enrichment. Definitely a great choice for keeping her mind sharp and giving her a rewarding activity. I also like the nonskid feet.

This puzzle has so many hiding places. It’s a higher difficulty level for sure because the middle bones need to be removed (to retrieve the treats underneath) all the way in order for the outer red pieces to slide back and forth to reveal another compartment underneath. The red ones also have flaps that lift up to a middle compartment for treats. Hope this makes sense. Each row of three has 5 hiding places. So, that’s 20 hiding spots all together. Easy to clean, but challenging to dry all the way because of all the flaps and compartments.

I bought a bunch of puzzle toys and have slowly been introducing them to my dog before she bring home our new one. This one took her the longest time. She kept trying to bite at it instead of pawing it so it took her quite a bit of time to get all the treats out (I only filled half the pockets). My only gripe is that she popped one of the doors off of it. It popped right back on, but still. Depending on the dog you might want to be cautious.

This puzzle is well-designed, easy to clean and kept my dog entertained for a solid 15-20 minutes. He did quickly figure out that if he turned the entire puzzle upside down, he could dump out all the treats at once, so I do have to hold the puzzle down on the ground. He also snapped off one of the lids getting into one of the compartments, but I was able to snap it back into place.

It took a bit but she started getting it. The problem is I can't use it that often or she'll be eating training bites and snacks all day long so I have to really limit her play with it. There's only one more issue I have to watch her when she plays with it because she takes the White Bones out and starts chewing on them like they're the toy and I have to get it from her and get her back on track. She is a typical puppy and can be pretty destructive but so far so good. This is kept her busy several times.

Different levels of fun

My dogs so enjoy this that I just use a few of their usual kibble that is ignored in their bowl. They walk right past it all day, but if this is full, they run to it. I was nervous my dogs wouldn't figure out how to open the red boxes with lids, but both the old one and the pup figured it out. Despite knowing how, it still takes a bit of effort and they are proud of themselves. If they get aggressive and end up removing a lid, it snaps back onto the red box. The red boxes slide to reveal more below, which is their favorite part. The hardest part is removing the white bone covers. My dogs are 5 pound poodles who treat things delicately. The puppy has dug them out of the spot, but to teach her they remove at all, I put a piece of twine through the hole for them to use as a handle for removal. Once one removed it almost by mistake while digging on the bone, they understood. Now I leave one twine handle and one without. I have only used two of the bones so far to prevent frustration. Sometimes they prefer to dig on the bones for removal, and sometimes rather than removing, one will flip upside down in it's location still covering the food. So far I have rescued them from such a frustration, but I think it would be yet another challenge they would enjoy overcoming and feel proud about. If your dog was a heavy chewer, eventually they would destroy parts, but really, don't heavy chewers destroy most of their toys? And the price is right even if you considered it a consumable toy.

I have one cat that can do this puzzle quickly and another who can’t quite get it yet but likes watching the other cat. He snaps the hinges of the boxes off, but they go back on easily. I highly recommend this for smart cats who need to be entertained! I’ve tried other puzzle feeders, but they “hack” them quickly by turning over the puzzle. So far, he’s solved this one the intended way.

Bought this for my senior Siberian Husky

She absolutely loves this! There are spots in this puzzle to place up to 20 treats. The containers are small so over treating isn’t an issue. My dog loves this!

This is fun. I hide 6 to 8 treats daily. I move around all the pieces, take out some of the dog bones and place in some small plastic balls or such as an extra challenge. Gracie enjoys going at it to find all her treats - and eventually does, after tearing some of the doors off and knocking off the bones. She seems to have a really good time and eagerly LOOKS FORWARD to her puzzle toy Every Day! I'm glad that I discovered these puzzles. Gracie is 17 and not so much interested in playing with toys anymore - but these type puzzles really excite her. I have about 4 or 5 others, but this seems is 'our' favorite so far ( I have a similar version of this for "cats" but it is smaller. This is nice because it's a bit more challenging)
