The product works well but the applicator can make application problematic. It looks like a shortened syringe and it is hard to hold a struggling cat and the applicator at the same time, never mind plunging it. Honestly, I wish they would change it to a tube, same as the others. Smaller is easier to apply. As far as how it works, it's great and it covers adult fleas, heart and other worms.

I had tried Bravecto and my cat was seriously sick for 18 mo. Ulcers all over her body. Fur falling out and balance problems and more. I said an allergy to product. Vet said no. We treated her she wasn't getting better. I changed vets. He said that was complications to prod and flea allergy on top. I was afraid to try anything else. When I did it didn't work n made her sick. Dr suggested this Nextguard combo. I cried when I put it on her. I didn't want her to hurt her or get sick. She had scabs on body. He gave her a cpl shots n we tried. She didn't get sick. She started to heal finally. Happy tears as I hugged her. She was going to be OK. No getting sick, no ulcers or scabs anymore. She's back to playing and chasing her sister around n playing with kittens. I love this stuff. I still get nervous when I put it on. She don't like the smell. I dont either but it works. She helped me through getting sick from cancer. She stayed with me. I had to find answers for her. We still deal with other allergies but not this one.

It's a fact, indoor cats also need parasite prevention. Next Guard Combo is what the veterinarian recommended for treatment and prevention. I usually buy single doses, this time ordered from Chewy. I can tell it makes a difference because their coats start looking shinier and eyes brighter within days of application. Strangely with this batch one of my cats got a little bald spot where i applied it. Other than that he seems fine. All of the others are good to go.

Hi! I have a 4 year-old Maine Coon with a severe flea allergy - it takes just one flea bite to cause him to scratch, itch, and lick his skin raw. He went in to the vet with a hematoma on his right ear in May 2023 from scratching it from a flea bite somewhere on his body...although we were using the absolute best RX topical flea treatments we could find for several years, having an exterminator spray the house and yard, etc. NOTHING was working... My vet gave him an antibiotic injection...and told me that Nexgard Combo had just been approved by the FDA and she got her first shipment that week...and she assured me that it actually works! It not only kills fleas - it is the only broad spectrum parasiticide ever designed for cats...it kills fleas, ticks, ear mites, roundworms, hookworms, and tapeworms! I admit I was a bit nervous about a new topical treatment that can just do everything - and my vet assured me it has been used in other countries with rave reviews for 2 years...it was just approved by the FDA in the US in April...and she was so excited about it! But I went home and researched it for hours anyway - and she was right - and it's not new! It has been used extensively with rave reviews in most other countries! I wish I had this two years ago when it was initially released and approved in every other country...while I was paying the same price for parasiticides that everyone knows are no longer working for more than a few days. And - then you get into the problem of dosing again - you can't treat for another 25 days or you have to use another chemical that won't interact with the original chemical...and that works for a few days! Y'all - this stuff works! I don't know why some folks hate the applicator - I don't care! I have several long-haired Maine Coons and had no issue with the applicator. It was simple enough to do on my own without another person parting the hair - I think maybe that's the point of the applicator. My bottom line here is - this stuff changed everything for us! It actually made my cat's life so much better! This stuff actually worked - Wolfgang has not had any fleas since May when I started using it on all of our cats. He has grown all of his lovely fur back...we terminated our contract with our exterminator! We have not seen a flea since May and he's gained 5 pounds since using it...so perhaps we also had an intestinal worm issue we weren't even aware of...it took care of that as well even without PCR panel tests on the poop to get to that conclusion. Four months after using this - my cat is just a totally different cat - all healthy and just so happy! I only wish I had found this sooner!

This is the ONLY preventative on the market that actually prevents tapeworms. Other brands will tell you their product "prevents tapeworms", but when you read the fine print, they actually admit that it contains no tapeworm killers & that it simply "should" prevent them on the pretense that it "because it kills fleas, they can't bite and transmit tapeworms"... except that that excuse doesn't cut it. Even with preventatives, fleas can still jump on your pet. What do you think happens when those fleas die after touching your pet's skin? They sit in the fur. This means that your pet can accidentally ingest a tapeworm-infected flea while grooming themselves. I had this exact situation occur when my indoor cat - who eats a conventional diet & has always been kept on prescription flea prevention - strangely developed a tapeworm infection despite said prevention claiming it "prevents tapeworms". I was furious. I did my research, and now I will ONLY be buying Nexgard since it is the ONLY preventative that *actually* prevents tapes. Nexgard also prevents lungworms, another parasite that other preventatives do NOT prevent despite the fact that lungworm infections are becoming increasingly common in the US. I'm also very happy that Nexgard does not cause my cat to cry in pain during application like the previous prescription topical that I used. Nexgard banishes these south Texas fleas with ease. Yes, there is a lot of liquid in the applicator. Apply it slowly and go UP the neck from the shoulders. Don't go down or sideways since your cat will be able to lick it. Separate your cats until the drug completely dries - they will try and lick it off each other and you don't want that. Personally, I find the plunger much easier and safer to use than the typical tiny tube applicator. It's way easier to control how quickly you push the drug, you can instantly see if you've pushed the entire dose, and you don't risk getting it on your fingers. If your cat doesn't know how to behave during applying topicals... that's on you. Not the fault of the manufacturer. You're responsible for desensitizing your cat to these kinds of things.

I have a few kitty babies that have flea allergies. I have tried several different products for flea control - even some that have worked in the past but for whatever reason, no longer work. This product absolutely does the job. The one who had bald spots from over grooming has started growing hair back in less than a month after the first use. It's also nice that it also works on some worms as well.

My sweet little calico had diarrhea a couple of days after I applied this at the nape of her neck for the firat time ever. A couple of days later, she went into seizures and I had to rush her to the nearest ER 45 minutes away on the early Sunday morning. By the time we arrived, she was flat on her side and couldn't even hold up her head! The vet did blood work which showed all normal levels except her sugar was a little elevated. The vet said it was probably a response to the trauma. She also ordered a lung xray which looked okay with maybe a little asthma, but she had a respiratory virus a month ago, so probably showing old signs of that. The vet said she was in Amazingly good health for a 10 year old cat, except for what she was going through Right Then. They kept her overnight and pushed IV fluids. They ran an enzyme test and said she needed an EKG, even though she wasn't in heart failure. I had already looked up and found that seizures in cats can definitely cause raised enzyme levels. So, I opted to not do the EKG. I had already paid $2,300 for this One ER visit!! I brought her home and used a foam cat cleaner to try to remove any remaining g residue from the Nexgard. She showed signs of improvement in a couple of hours. Luckily, days later, she has regained her balance most of the time and can walk again. This has been one of the most Terrifying things I have ever experienced with any of my cats throughout my life!! I will Never use Nexgard ever again!!

I read some reviews about this medication being " a lot of liquid" or being "too much liquid for a cat". But honestly, the syringe makes placing this on my big ole boy super easy. He hates being handled or picked up and get overstimulated with pets, so handling him is a bit tough. However, during meals I have found I can put his food bowl down with one hand, aim and squirt with the other on his nape. No movement from him and no side eyes either. I guess it dries quickly bc unlike other liquid prevention I don't see a greasy area of hair. Nor do I see him attempting to clean himself on the area of treatment.
