This is one of my favorite feeders in spite of its flaws. It's small enough that nectar doesn't go to waste, keeps out all but the smallest bugs (and I don't find many of them in it cleaning/refilling once a week), doesn't let orioles or squirrels drink from the feeder, and is easy to clean. That being said, it DOES have flaws. First, the rubber flowers fade HORRIBLY quickly. I've had two of these feeders for two years now, and both the original flowers and the replacements that come with them have already faded to almost white. That's less than a year each. Other feeders have lasted 3+ years without significantly fading. Minus a star (almost 2) for that. Second, they do not hold even 6oz of nectar unless you want wasps and bees mobbing them. You can't let the nectar touch the bottom of the flowers inside the jar when filling the feeder. If you do, the fluid dynamics "stick" the liquid up around the base of the flower where it's inserted in the glass jar, and wasps will be able to get to the nectar from underneath the "petals" of the flower. You can see that happening in the product pictures if you look closely enough. I'd still recommend this feeder, but they need to get better rubber flowers or you'd better order more spares from the start.

I added this at the last minute and I'm happy that I did! It is really nice quality. It includes extra silicone flowers too. The only tiny issue is that you cannot fill it to the top because the nectar runs out of the flowers. The hummingbirds found it right away. Be sure to ONLY use plain white table sugar and NOT organic sugar. I didn't know that organic cane sugar contained extra iron that could be toxic to the hummingbirds! So, I had to go buy regular plain suagr. Also, be sure to change the nectar often, so as not to allow it to ferment or go bad in the sun and make the birds sick. I will buy a few more to put out next year. I prefer these smaller feeders now because I have to change the nectar so often.

I have this in blue glass. It doesn't hold much (3 days worth for 2 frequent resident birds) but it is better for the humming birds to have these cleaned often to reduces disease. Also, please do not use red food coloring for your sugar water mix. It is unnecessary and may not be good for the birds. 1/4 cup refined sugar to 1 cup boiling water. Mix until desolved. Wait to cool before adding to feeder. The only thing I am concerned about with this feeder is the metal lid. I have had issues with rusting on metal based feeders. Had this a few months but still no sign of rust.

This looked so cute and it was shipped right away and everything was fine about it- I appreciate that BUT the design is not so great. The little tubes where the hummingbird would access the sugar water are not very long and if you dont keep it full to the brim, it becomes out of reach for the hummingbirds. And if you do fill it to the brim, it leaks out all over the place. Like the idea of recycling mason jars this way but its not working

I love this design and the hummingbirds do, too. The smaller size helps motivate me to do what's right and change out the sugar water frequently. By change out, I mean refill because the birds are using the feeder. I got 3. I plan on getting another one to give as a present. I also really appreciate the replacement feeding flowers.

I don't have a lot of hummingbirds flocking to a feeder, and we're supposed to change the food often to prevent a dangerous mold, so the small size is good for my situation. I like that I can see through it to know when it needs refilling. You do have to be very careful to avoid spilling.

It is very easy to thoroughly clean and refill. Small batches of nectar are perfect for Arizona summers where nectar can go bad in the heat. Some reviews said it leaks but per directions don't fill above the red flowers and it will be fine. I also read that hummingbirds can't reach the nectar once it gets below the flowers but I have watched the hummingbirds reach the bottom because it is shallow. I like how I can tell exactly how much sugar water is in there compared to the typical feeder. I purchased two and plan on purchasing more!
