Size of pieces changed

I have been getting this brand for my dogs for a long time. The last bag that came in (by auto ship so same bag every time) the size of the kibble are much larger and 1-2 days after opening and feeding, my dog(10yrs old) got diarrhea really bad, and has been to the emergency vet and our regular vet 2x for blood in her urine. Now it has not done anything to my younger dog(5yrs) that we have noticed so it hard to say it's the food itself. However I feel like something has changed in this food. I am switching to a new brand asap though. Very weird.

I have three dogs, and all of them love this dog food. I wanted to ensure they were fed food that doesn’t contain unnecessary ingredients harmful to their health. One of my dogs is a very picky eater, so it speaks volumes when he enjoys something. The food is always fresh and has a delightful aroma of fresh salmon, sweet potato, and pumpkin. Although it is a bit pricey, I believe it's worth it for the quality. I have tried more expensive brands, but all three dogs turned their noses up at them. This dog food is grain-free, so my dogs don't experience any stomach issues when eating it, which is a significant plus.

My dog absolutely loves this food! We rescued our Siberian husky a little over 2 months ago and from the day we got him he was having GI issues. His stools were soft, often completely liquid. We took him to the vet and ruled out any parasites or more serious issues. We tried every single remedy every dog parent and dog expert around us suggested, we did internet research, tried absolutely everything. I came across this food and the words "easy to digest" were the selling point. Not only does my dog go crazy gobbling down his food, he's also eating more (i guess his belly is feeling better) and his #2s started to regain shape and harden within a week of starting this food. He had been having belly issues for so long that people around me had actually started to become a little judgemental of my ability to properly take care of my fur baby. It feels really good to be able to finally feel like I have my boy happy and healthy!!!

Love This !

I have 2, 19 month old German Shepard/Pit-bull pups that lost all interest in their last food(Purina one- large breed puppy food). I did lots of reading and reviewing

I have 2, 19 month old German Shepard/Pit-bull pups that lost all interest in their last food(Purina one- large breed puppy food). I did lots of reading and reviewing and after a couple days I found this food. Let me just say y'all, my dogs LOVE this stuff. As soon as I open the bag their noses are in it. The smell is strong but I'll deal with it if my dogs are actually eating it. My boy has serious stomach issues and this food seems to be doing the trick. Fingers crossed! Also, my little girl is such a picky eater and I see her in her food bowl at least 2 times a day which is such good progress from before. In just 2 months of being on this food you can see the difference in their coat and their appetite. If your going back and fourth on a food to choose for your fur baby I'd definitely suggest you to try this one. Also a huge shout out to CHEWY for always being on time and so awesome to their customers!!! Can not go wrong here, I'll forever suggest this site to anyone and everyone!!

Dangerous shards

I’ve been ordering this for about a year and a half and my cattle dogs loved it. The last few orders we received I noticed the kibble looked different in shape

I’ve been ordering this for about a year and a half and my cattle dogs loved it. The last few orders we received I noticed the kibble looked different in shape and color and I noticed there were white pieces in them. I didn’t give it much thought and just thought they were part of the food, (because really, how closely do you examine individual pieces of kibble?), until I read another Chewy review that mentioned the same thing and the reviewer mentioned they were possibly foreign materials or pieces of plastic. I then looked closely and noticed these appear to be pieces of bone material and the small pieces are very sharp, almost needle- like. I actually bloodied my finger on a piece trying to pry it out of a piece of kibble. I called Nature’s Recipe (a subsidiary of Smucker’s) and sent photos and they said they would “look into it” and the customer service representative said these pieces were most like pieces of salmon bone. When asked why the kibble has been darker lately I was told that it is most likely from different sourced vegetables, but was assured the recipe was the same. They didn’t seem concerned at all. I recently had a $1,800 weekend emergency visit to the animal hospital for one of my dogs due to gastrointestinal issues, bloody stools and vomiting, that was from an unknown origin, and I’m not saying it was from this food, but I’m also not taking chances again and will switch to another company. Chewy was outstanding with this whole issue and refunded my last order. Chewy is a top notch company with outstanding customer service.!!! None better.

DO. NOT. PURCHASE!! BAN THIS FOOD! KILLER KIBBLE!

My two pups’ regular food was out of stock and I had run too low. Searched quickly for a similar product to beat the cutoff for shipment, and looked for high star

My two pups’ regular food was out of stock and I had run too low. Searched quickly for a similar product to beat the cutoff for shipment, and looked for high star count and number of reviews. FIRST time I didn’t read the reviews on something new I was purchasing. 10 days into my dogs eating the food, I noticed that my good eaters were leaving half of their food or all of it in its entirety off and on, seeming to only eat when they absolutely had to. Went to feed them last night and noticed what I thought was a tiny piece of paper from the bag mixed in with the kibble. Went to pull it out and was poked in my finger. Ran the kibble under water until it was soft enough to pull apart without damaging whatever it was that had poked me and discovered a roughly half inch long and approximately the size of a number two pencil lead around, piece of bone. upon further inspection, as I began sifting through one of my dog’s food bowls which is clear glass, I just kept finding more and more. Some poked me as they were sticking out of the kibble pieces and some were inside of the kibble pieces. My younger pup had a surgery on her colon not long back and where the tissue is so thin there she even has to have a regular schedule for her “larger” bathroom breaks to avoid any bacteria or stretching of the repaired site as it is very delicate and could become infected quite easily and potentially cause death within days. Now, I immediately panicked, contacted Chewy and spoke with a very helpful and understanding representative (Breanna, hope I spelled correctly) who assisted me thoroughly and was very caring and not only provided the service I am used to from Chewy, but went above and beyond. I threw away every bit of the large amount of remaining Nature’s Recipe food and had to go out hunting a proper substitute, crying and anxiety-ridden for my poor pups. I will be speaking to my lawyer and keeping an extremely close eye on both of my dogs, especially my younger pup and should anything come from this, It will be on the hands of the Nature’s Recipe company. A class action lawsuit should already be in place and my hope is that no one else’s fur baby has suffered due to the Nature’s Recipe company and their intentional negligence as some of these reviews like mine SPAN MONTHS, and their lack of care in general for animals but plenty of care for revenue only showcases my statement further. It is easy for pet owners to overlook something like this as many blended foods will showcase differential color in kibble due to multi-ingredient formulas but killer bone pieces are not in the ingredient list. DO. NOT. RISK YOUR FURRY FAMILY MEMBER’S LIFE! AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST!

Inspect the kibble

This is the first time I’ve had an issue with this food, but it was alarming nonetheless. There was a very prominent, and very sharp, bone sticking out of a piece of kibble. Luckily, my dog’s food needs to be mixed with medication, and I was able to find this before serving. I checked the rest of the bag (it was no easy feat given that it was the largest size), but found no other problems. Be sure to check the kibble before serving.

I am happy about several things pertaining to Natures Recipe grain free salmon & sweet potatoe dog food. It is a high quality food that promotes good health, strong teeth and shiny coats. I have used this food for my dogs just over a year now and it's the only food they have not grown tired of. Because this is a nutritious food, my dogs eat less and less is passed as waist. I have been so happy with this food I have started using the feline version for my cats. Even my 22 year old cat adjusted to the new food without stomach upset and the morsels are small so she has no difficulty in chewing the food. Both products get 5 stars from me and my gang!

Our household absolutely LOVES this food. We have 4 dogs in total, all high energy, 3 Australian Shepherds and One Australian Shepherd/Collie mix and it is perfect for all. Ages are 14 weeks old, 17 weeks, 2 years and 6 years old. Our oldest holds onto weight easier, has allergies, ear problems, etc and it has cleared all up and we're working on weight loss and with all of the other pups their coats are great and they get the amount of nutrition needed for through out the day! Great product! Love the price and it lasts a long time! We bought 4 bags at the beginning of June 2017 and we won't need to order anymore food until the beginning of September 2017 and that's feeding 4 dogs!

My 7 year old coonhound developed such a sensitive stomach. She had always had Benefil, but now her stomach was growling so loud it would wake you up from a sound

My 7 year old coonhound developed such a sensitive stomach. She had always had Benefil, but now her stomach was growling so loud it would wake you up from a sound sleep. And I know she wasn't feeling good. Sometimes she wouldn't eat for days. She has been on this product for three weeks and loves it. I have cut her down on portions, but for an 80 pound girl she is getting about 4 cups a day. I highly recommend this for dogs that have stomach issues!!
