Overall happy with this brand

We had to switch our dog's food after Orijen changed their "Six Fish" ingredients. After a plethora of research, I landed on Nature's Logic. It wasn't super ideal because our dog is allergic to Chicken and this company adds chicken fats into all of their products, but I opted to give it a go regardless. Right off the bat, you can smell the difference between the two companies. In my opinion, Nature's Logic doesn't really compare; the smell is not remotely pleasant and the overall look of it is not appealing. The kibble sizes are small though, so a little dog would have no problems eating it. However, our dog doesn't care about any of that and she seems to really enjoy it. We have a 75lb. labrador and she has been eating it for two weeks with no problems. Its too early for me to tell if this food will affect her skin and coat. Her poops are much, much more compact on this food (smaller), firm, and do not smell as terrible as they did before. Her breath is about the same as before and I haven't noticed any adverse allergy effects so far. Overall, I am pleased with the switch. They use only natural ingredients (no man-made synthetic vitamins) and the kibble is a pretty raw, high-protein, low carb diet. If you are wanting to switch food, I'd give this brand a try, though be prepared to wear a nose plug every time you open that bag. (:

Not A Good Choice - Especially For Larger / Brachycephalic Dogs

Please read this whole review before you write off the food based on my 2-star rating. It's the only way to do right by the company, which I still believe probably

Please read this whole review before you write off the food based on my 2-star rating. It's the only way to do right by the company, which I still believe probably makes a good product. I'm also fairly certain that if you moisten this product with water and wait a few minutes to feed it, it will probably be fine for virtually any breed. For myself, however, that isn't acceptable - I rely on the crunch and jaw action of dry kibble to help keep my dogs' mouths and teeth healthy, which can be a challenge for brachycephalics. So dry kibble is a must from my perspective. I have 3 Olde English Bulldogges and a Shih-Tzu / Maltese cross. I don't think it's fair to blame Nature's Logic for stomach upset, because all 4 of my house mates here *CAN* have sensitive tummies. Food transition by itself, historically, doesn't seem to cause them a lot of problem - they have all always been on a rotational regimen, just to keep them from getting bored, and have tolerated it fairly well. But if the food has grain or other lower-quality ingredients in it, I see immediate consequences, so I'm careful about what I feed, even in rotation. Nevertheless, I gave this food the benefit of doubt because I *WAS* transitioning them to it, and I had at the same time introduced coconut oil into their diets. (I'm trying to find a way to alleviate skin sensitivity in one of them, without the use of steroids and antihistamines that vets so quickly tend to throw at a problem like that, which is why I've been testing different foods and supplements in the first place.) It *IS* fair to say, however, that all 4 of my dogs ended up with upset stomachs concurrent with the feeding of this food, and again, while I think it would be a gross misjudgment to blame their diarrhea and vomiting on the food entirely, because of the dietary change and coconut oil, I can definitely say that the tiny size of this kibble caused my bulldogs especially to repeatedly choke and gag on it, exacerbating the vomiting situation. And yes, occasionally even my little dustmop (who is also brachycephalic, I should point out, from his Shih-Tzu half) choked on it. I'm glad I bought only a very small sample to try, because after a few days of this, I was considering cleaning it out of my dog food bin and throwing it away, for the comfort, safety and well-being of my dogs. And that's really too bad, because they seemed to like the food's flavor and content very much. As it was, the coconut oil helped to make the kibble stick together and prevent loose kibble from entering their tracheas, and we had transitioned again to another test sample, and their issues seem to have dissipated. I would be willing to try this food again, but only if the formula were revised to offer a larger kibble size that I feel my dogs could safely eat without the danger of inhaling some of it and possibly causing a pneumonia or other serious problem.

For reference, I have a 1.5 year old medium sized girl (terrier mixed with great Dane and lab) and a 10 month old large boy (lab mixed with possibly boxer). Both of my dogs kept having either diarrhea or really soft stool. I went through all the testing hoops and probiotics treatments at the vet. We went through full transition periods for multiple food types and brands but nothing seemed to helped (or something would start to help one but not the other) of. Not to mention, one of them would only eat most dog food if I put something on top for flavor, I guess. After a lot of research on ingredients and reviews, I decided to give this one a try. Both my dogs love the venison food by nature's logic. No need to add anything for the picky girl and both are having normal poop (we have had them on it for months now). It's a little pricey (especially if you have more than one to feed) but I think it's worth it for them to be both happy and healthy on it.

This venison meal used to be a great formula, but unfortunately the manufacturer decided to replace the 2nd main ingredient from lamb meal to PORK meal. I think cutting cost this way shouldn't happen while increasing the price and lowering the amount of product in the bags. The ingredients listed on the website still wrong after all these months including the product photo. Hopefully people regularly ordering this product realize what they're actually getting for their money. All these great reviews are for the old formula. After a drastic change like this, the product should be listed as a new item on the website.

We are very satisfied with this kibble. We make every attempt to live a healthy lifestyle for our family and our dogs. We researched top dog foods, and even though we were buying a very good quality kibble and canned, our two German shepherds had to be coaxed at every meal to eat. From the first bowl of the NL venison kibble, and the canned NL sardine, they have eaten enthusiastically, even to the point of drooling while they wait for me to fix their meals. Their coats have become softer, and our male who has had allergies and ear problems, is seemingly free of these conditions. I rotate these kibbles and canned for protein variety. Our little jackapoo is loving this product too. I did try another online vendor, but when we compare the packaging these products were shipped in with the sturdy packaging from Chewy, here is where we will stay. We appreciate the whole Chewy system from the easy to use website, the variety of products, automated shipping, and the quality of the packaging. Thank you!

all 3 dogs love the Venison, but i wasn't so in love with the pricing, so i will stick with with their Beef, Sardine, and Rabbit, which they love all of them, i might try the Chicken (haven't tried that one yet). I love the small kibble bites so that my 8lb toy poodle can eat it, and my doberman and irish terrier don't mind the small bites

Great for high energy breeds

My ACD loves this food in any flavor. I have been feeding it since she was weaned. She is 19 months old and healthy as a horse.

A no nonsense food ...

The only dog food brand that does not need to add artificial vitamins and minerals because it uses real food in enough amounts to keep your dog healthy. Low carbs

The only dog food brand that does not need to add artificial vitamins and minerals because it uses real food in enough amounts to keep your dog healthy. Low carbs and being gluten free are a big plus for the health of our pets. The Non GMO millet used as a binder seems to be well tolerated and digestible making for small stool output. Sadly more crops are being Genetically modified, and we really don't know the long tern affect on the dogs gut. Nature's Logic sources of the ingredients are exceptional. The Venison is raised free range in New Zealand, and the laws of that country prevent feed lot feeding. Canines are red meat eaters and this diet provides all the important nutrients for good health. Having a Yellow Lab red eye stains have always been an issue. But feeding Nature's Logic for three months has removed them. I don't know the reason for this but had seen on Nature's Logic web site a testimonial about the same benefit. If you have to feed a kibble diet Nature's Logic is at the top of the food chain.

This is the best dog food on the market for many reasons: - Feed a lot less (one bag lasts months in my house). - No chemical vitamins, etc. - I contacted the company and they told me there are no GMOs in this food. - No itchy dog ears or skin (my dog doesn't react badly to this food at all). - My dog loves it, never gets tired of this food. I was buying a different high-end dog food and went through a large bag every month based on their feeding schedule. This food might cost a little bit more, but I only feed my dog a cup or so per day (half cup in the morning, half cup at night - more if he is really expending a lot of energy) and he has maintained a perfect weight and energy level. We used to have a lot of problems with him having diarrhea, itchy skin and ears, etc., and switching to this food has resolved ALL of these issues. I have been purchasing this food for three years for my Aussie, and buy about two to three bags per year - not bad in the long run. I just supplement raw carrots and other whole foods throughout the day as snacks and I have myself one happy Aussie.

My Great Pyrenees has the most sensitive stomach. I tried other top brand competitor foods, which worked but were still not good enough. I love this food because it doesn't have any source of chicken or pea protein, both of which upset my girl's stomach. I tried the duck and salmon formula also, but her stools are the most firm on this venison formula. Everest and I love that it comes right to our front door also. Thank you chewy!
