Quincy had been eating another brand of dry/wet food. He had been struggling a while with tummy issues, similarly, so had our other poodle, Bennett. They both were having trouble with occasional vomiting, diarrhea, and refusing their usual food. I decided to give this Natural Balance Lamb/Rice food a try for them, to see if it would help. I was very pleased to find that they both are feeling much better now! Firm output and they like the taste. Only a little vomiting but that is usually because we slept in and they got too hungry. Will continue feeding and thanks to Chewy for making it easy to get supplies for all of my fur kids!

Lamb meal in Pate form-great for my senior lab

My lab Jessie has been eating lamb/rice food for most of her life. She was eating kibble and enjoyed it. As she got older I chose to add some of the canned varierty

My lab Jessie has been eating lamb/rice food for most of her life. She was eating kibble and enjoyed it. As she got older I chose to add some of the canned varierty. She really loved the new addition to her diet. This past year Nature's Recipe discontinued the canned lamb & rice pate style. So we switched her to the stew variety. Then they discountinued that. I searched for a replacement lamb & rice. It was not easy to find, and I didn't want some cheap variety either. I was delighted when I discovered the Natural Balance brand. We had to slowly transition Jessie over to the new variety. As you need to do for any change in a dogs diet. Jessie just loves the new food. She still eats her kibble and the canned food is added to that. So happy that Chewy carries this brand. Thank you so much for the great service!

For years our dog had the worst bowel movements: recurring bouts of diarrhea, constipation, and eventually what appeared to be large amounts of mucous. It wasn't a constant issue, maybe once or twice a month for a few days, despite dozens of trips to multiple different vets, and several different doctors at some, none had any suggestions until one told us to try something with low crude fat like this brand, specifically lamb and brown rice. It was an overnight difference with her gut health, and for the first time she actually devours her food (dental issues as well due to vets dismissing our concerns). All of her bowel movements are solid now and has no further issues with them. She was eating Blue Buffalo Wilderness Chicken, and later Chicken Senior dry for the curious.

The Natural Balance line has helped my Yorkie with her digestive problems. I adopted her when she was ten years and ten months old from a shelter. She had chronic diarrhea, yeast and skin allergies from the other brands of foods. I decided to simplify her diet and the natural balance diet has just six healthy and wholesome ingredients. Within four to six weeks my Yorkie was feeling much better and her skin and hair had a healthy sheen. She was no longer smelly, bloated or having diarrhea issues or skin allergies.

Not doing so well on this new food..

I just started my dog on this new Limited Ingredient Lamb and Brown Rice wet food almost 2 weeks now. I started her off slowly and added less and less of her old

I just started my dog on this new Limited Ingredient Lamb and Brown Rice wet food almost 2 weeks now. I started her off slowly and added less and less of her old wet food until this morning, just the Natural Balance with the Natural Balance kibble, a little unsalted Beef broth and she didn't want to eat it. I'm just so disappointed at this point. I had to add a little of her old wet food again in order for her to eat at least half. In my opinion, this food smells like FISH and the pate's texture isn't easy to mix with the kibble. I just might have to call customer service and donate this food. Her Vet said she needs to be on a Limited Ingredient food because she can't have any chicken. Her old food said Lamb and brown rice but the Vet saw that in the ingredients it still had chicken. She's 13 and has been thru many different foods and I'm just at a loss at this point. She loves 92% lean ground beef, so I might have to do that w/kibble from now on if I can't find another wet food.

I was hesitant to buy this product because of some of the reviews, but I later learned that the reason for customer feedback was likely due to the change in formula

I was hesitant to buy this product because of some of the reviews, but I later learned that the reason for customer feedback was likely due to the change in formula. While it’s true that the food, itself, does not maintain a “squishy” texture after refrigeration, this is because the carcinogen, “carrageenan,” was removed from the ingredients list. Carrageenan is a popular additive in wet dog foods to help texturize the paté. Unfortunately, it’s absence certainly messed with the texture of this particular food, but the trade off is a much healthier ingredients list for the long-term health of our dogs. That said, I now feed this food to my 1-year-old-pug who has a food sensitivity. I’ve long been looking for a wet LID that doesn’t have carrageenan in it, and finally settled on this after reading about their formula change. She loves this stuff, too! As a tip, if your dog prefers softer texture: I usually mix it with some boiling water to help soften it again after refrigeration! The temperature comes down pretty quickly and my dog enjoys a warm meal for dinner every night. Otherwise, serving as-is straight out of the fridge or can, you’ll find the pate has more consistency with cooked ground meat than an actual pate—which some dogs won’t mind, either! 5/5 for this food from us! Please don’t let the negative reviews discourage you from trying it. The formula is much healthier for your pup in the long term.

You won't regret feeding your pet this food. I've tried many brands of foods over the years ranging from the most expensive prescription food to basic store brand food. The prescription food is great but at nearly $5 per can of food with 2 dogs, it is simply too expensive. Nutro, Taste of The Wild, Cannedale, Purena are a handful of brands I tried over the years. None made a big difference from one another. The last brand I tried for nearly a year was Iams. Gradually, my 10 year old black lab developed dandruff, a dull coat (almost greyish) chronic shedding, parchy fur, ear infections and just wasn't himself. The changes were gradual so I chalked it up to his being old. My younger mixed Shepherd didn't have the same symtoms other than a dull coat and shedding. Easily blamed on the change in seasons. After trying to resolve my labs allergies through medication and several boughts of prescription shampooing I decided to look into the food. I read through the feedback provided on this site and found one mention of someone who fed her lab Iams and learned how bad it was for her dog. She recommended Natures Balance so I tried it and am glad I did. I have never seen both dogs coats so beautiful and unbelievably soft. The chronic shedding has completely stopped. No more allergies, no more dandruff...nothing but two healthy and very happy dogs. It is rare that I provide feedback like this but I believe in this brand and the positive results you will see in your pet.

Finally, a limited ingredient food that IS NOT grain free. There aren't many or there. After the recent investigations by the FDA about grain free foods and it causing heart failure and death in dogs, I had to revamp what I was feeding Jaxx. New wet and dry food trials, it's been a roller coaster and not many brands are carrying foods that aren't grain free anymore. I have to say, Jaxx loves this one and I really love it too. Even the way it looks, you can tell that you are feeding a high quality food and Jaxx has no tummy troubles. I was very impressed when I opened the can. No unnecessary ingredients, the smell isn't bad like some can be, and it doesn't come out of the can in one lump. Jaxx approves and so do I.
