Natural Balance Health Protection Adult Real Chicken, Brown Rice & Pumpkin Dry Dog Food, 24-lb bag

I was pleasantly surprised when we received this food. I can smell the pumpkin in it and didn’t expect our pup to like even give it the time of day but she loved it! We only feed high quality food to our girl and while this does contain chicken and turkey meal, it is NOT by product meal, it’s high quality. I love that the food is cooked in the USA and chicken is the main ingredient. The food is disc shaped which is nice because it doesn’t roll if the bowl is accidentally spilled. It has both prebiotics and probiotics for digestions, as well as vitamins and minerals to support bones, teeth, joints, heart, skin and coat. I love the unique blend and health support of this food and our baby thinks it’s delicious.

We used to always feed Natural Balance Synergy, but when that was discontinued, I had a hard time finding a food my picky eater would eat. He always sniffs a new food and then turns up his nose. I took one handful out of the bag and offered to him, and he started eating it right away with real interest. I particularly like the 6 health benefits and the fact it has grains and a probiotic. The only improvement would be to have it in a resealable bag for the smaller sizes.

When it comes to my 17-lbs Shih Tzu, I’m always looking for kibbles that have balanced nutritions AND not gain-free. In short, I just want to play as safe as I could. This food hits all the marks and my boy love its taste from the get go. My only two minor reservations are: 1) the kibble size is learning towards the bigger side, so if you have a tiny tiny dog, maybe it’s too big. My Shih Tzu can eat it with no problem. 2) the big is not self-closing like most other dog food. Just wish companies could use self-closing bags.

I bought this because my Australian Shepard Brutus just quit eating his regular food. This is actually the second time. His hair is dull and he has diarrhea every few months. I actually meant to purchase the Salmon and Rice version and must have picked the chicken and rice by mistake. But Brutus loves it. I bought some Natural Balance Salmon and Rice canned food as a topper which he really likes and will most likely purchase it in the dry as well. All in all I feel this is a quality food, reasonably priced. The big plus is he has no diarrhea!
