I changed from the brand I was using as they started adding fillers, deviating from their previously advertised 7 ingredients. I researched many brands of dog food ingredients prior to selecting Merrick. My dog loves this new food and was pawing at the bag while still in the Chewy box. I home cook, and the kibble is a side dish to make sure she gets the proper nutrients. No poultry, corn, wheat or soy. And, glucosamine and chondroitin are added, great for joint health for an 8 year old.

Started to think about switching dog foods when my dogs started throwing up Blue Buffalo (especially their salmon/grain product & chicken/grain product) ! I noticed the kibble was changing in coloring and sometimes the kibble was running smaller in size/shape. I did a lot of research and it was between Merrick & Fromm. I like that Merrick manufactures their own product. I wanted to go grain free because I read about bad doggy breath and started to wonder ... My yellow labs scratches a lot and sheds (to me) more than normal. The boys have been on it two weeks now so I will know over time. There was no diarrhea and they seemed to sense this was a better food too ! They did not let the food sit there 1/2 the day and was eaten immediately. In the long run I believe the cost $$$ will outweigh the benefits to their health. I cringe when I see people buy Ol' Roy etc ... Our dogs mean the world to us and I only get one chance to do it right for them.

I've transitioned by 13 month cocker spaniel to this food and she absolutely loves it. She was eating Royal Canin for medium dogs her entire life and she hated it, I even had to give it by hand to make her eat and she was burping and having digestion issues with that food. Now, the bad times are gonne! . She eats her new food like crazy and lovea it. No more burping, no upset belly. The fiber is great % so she poops regulary. I should transitioned a long time ago. I think she was having alergies to some ingredients of her food since she used to scratch a lot. Now she's confortable in her own skin. I'm very satisfied with this product

I have 3 large dogs aged 18 months to 10 who had previously been eating another grain free product of either chicken or fish. One dog has a food sensitivity we have narrowed down to being likely chicken, so I transitioned all of my dogs to this diet when the other product no longer became available from nChewy. All my dogs love this food and seem healthy and with great coats and skin. I also like that this diet is lower in fat and calories than their previous food since one of my dogs struggles a bit with weight. We have been trying to slim her down, she gets plenty of exercise, no treats, and we had reduced her serving size to being much less than my older dog of the same weight and activity, so I am hoping this new diet will improve her health in that way. In any case, that will take some time, but for now she seems to have no sensitivity and loves this kibble! Thank you for pushing me to investigate and compare.

I have a dog that suffers with sufferers hot spots all over the vet which had charge me so much money in tested and decided she couldn’t eat chicken put her on lamb and rice she still broke out in hot spots I had to change her diet my self I went to salmon diet and I use the vets shampoo I have cut her down I do give her Benadryl for the itchy I apply coconut oil in the area. It is working so far, but thank you Chewy for being there for me and working with me on the diet of her food. I’d love Chewy . They have always been there for me and worked with me with a different plan of food and I do use the food with the other Shih Tzu. She doesn’t have any skin issues or digestive system, but I use the same food for her, she loves it. Thank you again Chewy for you being there for.

I was previously feeding my Chiweenie Orijens Six Fish, but Chewy stopped carrying it. I decided to try this out as a replacement. I'm a fan of the ingredients (as I was with Orijens). The price is better but the food seems to be comparable in quality. My dog liked Orijens just fine, but she REALLY loves Merrick! She finishes her whole meal in one sitting every time, which she didn't usually do with Orijens. And her coat looks as healthy as ever. Glad I found an even better replacement for a high quality food. (Also glad I own a 7 lb. dog that eats half a cup of food a day so I can afford to feed her the good stuff! :) )

My 7 yr. old rescue pit-mix pup has extremely sensitive skin, any change in diet or environment, he breaks out. So, when I went back to work after Covid closure, he broke out in hives. Apoquel didn’t help, rice and chicken didn’t help, so I tried Merrick Grain Free Salmon and Sweet Potato dry recipe and he is almost back to normal. His coat is great, no more breakout, and he’s now comfortable in his own skin!

My dog loves this food.

We rescued Oscar in September and he was difficult to feed. He was over weight and scratching constantly. His owner gave him table food mixed in with his dog food which increased his caloric intake and caused his weight gain. We tried many brands of grain free dog food, but wouldn’t eat until he was really really hungry. Meanwhile I researched on Whole Dog Journal the top kibble for dogs and Merrick fish had really high scores. We tried a small bag of Merrick Grain Free Real Salmon and Sweet Potato and he loved it. Finally! That is the ONLY food he gets now. His itching stopped and his weight is normal due to not having table food.

My review when it comes to Merrick dry dog food yes it is very expensive but it's worth every penny it is extremely healthy for your pet my dogs absolutely love it they love the backcountry freeze dried food more so than the other ones they also like the salmon and Venice and the rabbit with the sweet potato I found a dog food that is extremely exceptional is it worth buying yes I believe it is there are more expensive dog food out there that are high quality I'm not going to entertain it Merrick provides exceptional dog food for it's price I'm just now starting to buy the back country wet food for my dogs I use that every now and then not all the time I know my dogs prefer the gravy formula over the compressed mixed formula All In All Merrick provides a really good dog food I would recommend this product to anybody you will not be disappointed and if for some odd reason FedEx or UPS if they damaged your bags in shipment chewy will replace them at no additional charge

Our 5 year old Lab has been on Merrick's, either Buffalo or Salmon, since he was a year old. The breeder recommended a different brand but we dropped that when it appeared allergies were starting to affect our boy. After a lot of reading both pro's and con's about the many brands of dog foods, I settled on Merrick's and have not been disappointed. We've got a strong, healthy, and energetic pup and I believe it is because of Merrick's and a lot of exercise.
