Feeding Ornate ornatas gets a bit tricky as the traditional diet to keep these lovely box turtles in optimal health varies drastically according to age, as well as environment. They need access to a wide variety of foods, and the access needs to promote foraging skills in addition to providing balanced nutrition. My 27 yr old red eared slider turtle was recently gravid. After finally laying her eggs she refused to eat her regular food that she has eaten all her life. I tried Mazuri as I was desperate for her to start eating and now she will not eat her old food. I’m happy to say if she’s happy and eating I’m happy as well!
