Best food I’ve found! mazuri smells like cardboard and crumbles and feels like I’m feeding my rats junk! And they absolutely hate it! Oxbow is just a hype and is super expensive for what it is..And my rats didn’t like it much and it made them stink I found this and my rats go crazy! I breed rats and this works fantastic! All my does produce great milk and all babies are healthy and shiny.. they keep weight well on this and it comes in such a large bag and lasts! I highly recommended!

3 out of 3 rats give this food a “Yoink!” They certainly were fine with their original food but this food excites them. I like that the food has some animal protein as rats are omnivores and some added ingredients for digestion that also make it smell pretty tasty. The bag is not resealable but can easily be transferred to another container for storage. Pelleted food is also great to avoid them eating only one or two foods out of a mix. I will definitely buy again (if I need to, the bag is huge).

I’ve had a lot of rats for a long time and tried many different foods on the market. On their previous food some of my females had weight loss and barbering issues. A few males also had scabby itchy skin. After a few days on Kruse’s everyone seemed to improve. The food itself is a large extruded cylinder pellet. It’s fresh smelling, not overly dusty, and affordable at around $30 for 40lbs.

I am a small hobby breeder and I have been feeding this food exclusively to my rats for a little over a year now (started beginning of September 2020), so I thought it was time for a review. It was becoming increasingly difficult for me to get their regular food, so I began searching for something I could feed instead. I happened to find Kruse here on Chewy and, compared to what they were eating before, the ingredients were pretty similar, so I decided to give it a try. Right off the bat, the shipping time for this food is annoying, so make sure you have at least several days left before ordering more, or get two bags first then order a bag when you run out of one. The smell of the food is interesting, can't quite put my name on what it is, but it isn't unpleasant (my mom thinks it smells like chocolate but I disagree). There is very little dust in the bottom of the bag compared to their old food and it seems to last longer. Rats are doing really well so far. There has been no loss in condition since switching, no health issues to date, and litters are doing fantastic. I dump the food in a Vittles Vault and it lasts my colony around 3 months, give or take (depending on how many rats and litters I have).
