Is the hole in the base the same diameter on all the different sizes?

The hole in the base is approximately 1 inch in diameter on all the sizes.

If your dog is Between sizes, would you go up or down? Our lab is ~60 lbs, but also not yet fully grown. It’s hard to say if he’s maxed out on his weight and height (9 months old). He’s an aggressive chewer, and I’m trying to find the best balance between challenging and “give up” if it’s too much.

If your pet is an avid chewer, or in-between sizes, it's recommended to size up by one or two sizes.

The dimensions for the Small size is 3 x 1.75 inches, the Medium size is 3.5 x 2.25 inches, the Large is 4 x 2.5 inches, the X-Large is 5 x 3.5 inches and the XX-Large is 6 x 3.9 inches.

I guess even black kong isn't so durable for our 9 months old puppy but at least now we have all broken collection of kongs but we will still buy kongs he loves

1st) this picture is a fluke one. He had this for maybe 2 weeks, they normally last him 6 months! (Pit mix) 2nd) to anyone concerned about the smell: rubber is natural, smell won't hurt, as long as they don't eat it (they never should) it's safe. 3rd) about washing them in the dish washer: the white film is from your dishwasher detergent! It's on your plates and cups too, you ingest it. Not good for any of us. (I switched to Blueland) 4th) overall these are the best. My boy LOVES the smell and the chew of all kong toys. I usually get 6 months out of 1. I'm watching to see if this has changed.

Not Pitbull Approved

My girl, Mango, is an aggressive chewer (she is a Pitbull, so yes she has tough jaws) I received this chew toy on March 15th, 2025 and the photos were taken March

My girl, Mango, is an aggressive chewer (she is a Pitbull, so yes she has tough jaws) I received this chew toy on March 15th, 2025 and the photos were taken March 18th, 2025. She has chewed on this toy for a total of an hour, maybe, and there are already little pieces of rubber coming off. I don’t want her to ingest this as she has already had a foreign object surgery, I am very cautious when it comes to her chew toys. I want her to get the enjoyment out of a chew toy without the worry of another surgery. Thankfully, I reached out to Chewy and they kindly issued a refund for my purchase. My one star review isn’t towards them, it is towards the toy! Just be cautious if you have an aggressive chewer, like Mango!

Dangerous and Low Quality

Kong's quality has dropped significantly and it poses a legitimate health hazard. I purchased two Extreme Kong Toys when I first adopted my dog and both are still intact. I decided to buy two more so I could prep more frozen Kongs at once. Both of these new Kongs were ripped in half within a few weeks of purchase. While Chewy's Support was AMAZING and quick to send replacements, these have started to come apart too. There are reports elsewhere of the same issue, with one person claiming their lab swallowed the top part and required emergency surgery to remove it. Kong doesn't seem concerned and did not take the issue seriously when it was reported. It's a cliche, but if I could give this zero stars I would.

I should have bought more of these!

What was I thinking? I ordered only one kong and I have 3 dogs? Not very smart. My female Belgian Malinois (former Military Working Dog) is a true toy terminator. The other two dogs are male Greyhounds. They are easy on toys. I guess I was only thinking of what she would not easily destroy, and I totally did not think that my boys would also love this toy. This Kong Extreme has held up very well to her extreme abuse. I highly recommend it to others with "El Destructo" type canines. I bring my dogs with me to my office every day. Occasionally that can get somewhat wild. Lucky for me I own the business! Putting treats in the Kong usually keeps her quiet and occupied at least as long as I need to be on the phone. Get one, they are totally worth it.

Ordered 8 more and 3 have already split. So disappointed especially since I contacted company and they are of no help.

Worth every penny

We have a 6 month old 29 pound hound/terrier mix, who chews up regular toys in minutes. We figured he would be fine with the red average Kong, but to be safe got

We have a 6 month old 29 pound hound/terrier mix, who chews up regular toys in minutes. We figured he would be fine with the red average Kong, but to be safe got the Large extreme one. He is able to chew on it and it doesn’t seem too tough for his chewing ability, loves to run around and play with it. Yes, this toy is a bit more expensive than regular toys, but if you think about how fast dogs can chew through average toys, it is probably cheaper in the long run. I put a little bit of his regular kibble in the toy and he lost his mind. I feel safe that he won’t be ingesting pieces of toys anymore as long as he has a Kong. Absolutely recommend.

Not really worth the price

I bought two of these for my pups. This one was left with my male while he was crated and this is what he managed to do to it. This is supposed to be the more durable

I bought two of these for my pups. This one was left with my male while he was crated and this is what he managed to do to it. This is supposed to be the more durable Kong which is why I got these specifically because my dogs are pit shepherd mixes that are almost 18 months old. Looks like it’s back to the drawing board for my pups.

The black ultra strong Kong Is the best product ever. When you have dogs with jaws that like to work all the time, this particular product is indestructible. I have been with German shepherds for 35 years if not longer and I could not find a Kong that was indestructible. This one is perfect. Mr. Chewy keeps these priced so low that it is ridiculous to walk into a store and buy them. Whenever I place an order for food I usually will buy a minimum of four of these. The price for the extra large ones which is what I purchase is very very low at Chewy, and in the local specialty stores you will see this particular product labeled 19$ to 23$ each. Chewy is THE place to buy them...no place else!

I guess I need EXTRA extreme

This extreme Kong lasted for about 9 months with my 12 year old border collie mix. She’s a chewer and always has been, it’s her favorite pastime, so I get toys like

This extreme Kong lasted for about 9 months with my 12 year old border collie mix. She’s a chewer and always has been, it’s her favorite pastime, so I get toys like this. I don’t know how it broke like that but if it can, she finds a way. I was expecting it to last longer than it did. As you can see in the picture, it was one of her favorites as evidenced by all of the teeth marks. I expect her to destroy every toy that enters the house but I did have some higher hopes for this. Maybe it was defective? For people with super chewers just beware. I’m used to every single toy being destroyed no matter how “tough” or “strong” the toy claims to be. I may try other types of Kong extreme toys just to see if different styles have a different fate.
