A Favorite for Years

There is no better toy for my boy than Marvin the Moose. Moosey. Moosifer. I don’t know why but of all the toys and treats and bones, Pippin goes back to the moose

There is no better toy for my boy than Marvin the Moose. Moosey. Moosifer. I don’t know why but of all the toys and treats and bones, Pippin goes back to the moose every time. Our house is filled with five or six Moosey carcasses at any given time that get swapped out on the best of all days, New Moosey Day. Pip just turned 10 and must be on Moosey #35 by now, if not more. I buy in bulk for fear of the toy being discontinued. I must add, Moosey doesn’t last long in pristine form. My dog is a tearer, not a chewer, and goes after the seams with all the viciousness his stubby little body will allow. If yours is the same, just know the moose doesn’t hold up well to constant attacks to his vulnerable parts. But who cares. Pippin loves his Emotional Support Moosey and lights up with each new one, and that’s what matters. A hundred gold stars for Marvin.

These toys are the easiest to remove the tags from. It's a large zip tie. You simply cut it. That's it. The end. Cut the tie and hand it to your dog. Why can't they all be that easy? Anyway, I know that these toys aren't for dogs to tear apart and eat. That's the manufacturer's suggestion. But I can't be the only one out there whose dogs have ALWAYS torn stuffy toys to shreds. They enjoy squeaking them for a but and then, BOOM, stuffing all over my house and dogs running around with squeakers. My living room looks like a bomb went off in it about 10 minutes later. And we let them keep the pelts to play with...tug of war and chewing, until they get too small for them. They love them long past the point of intact wubby. These Marvin Moose toys are the ONLY ones that don't have those little tiny plastic tag holders on them anywhere. Do you know how hard it is to make sure you get those little things out? Do you know how hard it is to find all the pieces to those? We have friends who lost a dog to one of those little plastic things. They couldn't find it to pull it out of the toy after they cut the end off. They just figured the thing fell out. They couldn't find it because it was so short and it was a white toy with a clear tag thing. Dog ate it and it punctured his intestines and by the time anyone realized anything was wrong, he was septic. Imaging can't see it because they're not metal. They lost their dog to a plastic fastener, which pretty much every toy company uses. And you know what? People lose their toes and feet to these things too. They're so small that people step on them and they embed into their skin, get infected and before they know it, the infection gets into their bones and they end up losing body parts over it. But there's no doubt with Marvin the moose. Anyway, our dogs love him. We buy them a large variety of toys, some with the plastic fasteners and Marvin. My oldest dog LOVES these moose. I don't know why or what's so special about him but she'll carry one of them around for a few weeks and protect him from the other dogs before she finally tears him up.

My huskies favorite toy

Marvin has been my huskies best friend since before his eyes opened. My guy was a single puppy born to his mother who we rescued and Marvin was specifically purchased to be his mate. While the original lost all its stuffing to a puppy being a puppy he still cares for it in a gentle way, and a few years ago we got the largest one which he loved. Right now we have about 4 Marvin's total, plus a stash and every time they are on sale I grab one because I can't bear risking that they might stop making it and he would be without his best friend. His favorite thing in the warmer season is to bring out all his Marvin's and place them on his cot and around the yard too, bringing them in at night. If one gets left out and it starts to rain he will panic until we get it back inside and if it is wet will stand guard by the dryer until it's out. Sometimes he even gives his Marvin's a cookie. While he loves all his stuffed toys and treats them all well Marvin is his all time favorite ❤

Bought this because of the high reviews and hoped its durability would live up to the hype. Spoiler alert, it didn't. I think Steve had this plushy eviscerated in a week. With that being said, he absolutely loves Moosey and I've woken up to Moosey's disgusting hollowed out body laying on the pillow next to me many mornings. So, I know Steve thinks he's special enough for mommy to play with. In spite of all the stuffing ripped out through his butt (looks like the same weak spot in other pics, so maybe Kong can make some adjustments to the design.) I'm here to buy Steve another Moosey to destroy because well, it gives him joy and he deserves it. 4 stars instead of 5 because of Moosey's easily destructible butt and the annoyance of having to clean up plushie mess so soon after purchase. I mean it's inevitable, but usually we make it through a couple of weeks. Most of Moosey's plushie skin is still in tact and Steve like to gnaw on it.

My dog doesn't even NEED me anymore!!!

My pup (Coby) has had a relationship with Marvin (4 different ones but Coby doesn't know that) for 6 months now... things are going great! He loves to ignore me

My pup (Coby) has had a relationship with Marvin (4 different ones but Coby doesn't know that) for 6 months now... things are going great! He loves to ignore me when he is having his Marvin time which entails carrying him around the house and showing everyone... squeaking him to make his brother jealous... slinging him around by the leg... chewing his antlers and tail... and using him as a pillow when he gets worn out from his tough puppy lifestyle! I replace Marvin when his insides start falling out (about every 5-6 weeks), but at this price point and for the dang love Coby has for him, this mamma doesn't mind one bit! I highly recommend it for any pup mamma wanting a good distraction for them. Word of warning though... Each Marvin seems to have a different life span... the first one he tore up in 2 days... the one we are on now has lasted for almost 8 weeks... I guess it just depends on what kind of mood is going on in his little head! lol

Moo loves her Moosey

My dog, Moo (55 lb German Shepherd mix rescue), received a Moose for Christmas 2017 and to be honest, I thought she would destroy it within a month... if not less. But she plays with it every single day, goes to bed with it at night and we've played many rounds of tug and fetch with it. Just last week we had to perform minor surgery on Moosey... Moo focused on chewing on one of the ears (not antlers) to the point of it being a soggy, mangled mess that I was afraid would rip off and she would swallow it. So I carefully snipped it off, thinking that for sure, I'd see Moosey bleeding "stuffing" all over the place and that would be the end of Moo's beloved toy. Imagine my surprise and delight that the ears and tail are sewn on separately... so while Moosey is now deaf on her right side (she never came when I called her anyway, so no big loss), there is NO stuffing leaking out and Moo is back in her game. I'm heading off now to buy another one... or two!

This lil guy takes a heck of a beating! I bought it for my buddies 88lb 1 1/2 yr old American bulldog cuz she wasnt feeling very well & she love it! Took a minute, because shes never had a stuffed animal, but after a very intense stare down (totally instigated by the moose, of course), they became fast friends! However, the moose likes to start fights & Xena likes to end them! But, shes has him for a month, and even after the many chews, tosses and wrestling matches, Mr Moose has held up beyond expectations! He is currently suffering from a slight flesh wound on his belly, but it's nothing a few stitches wont fix...at least for a few more weeks! I did buy the medium one for her this time. Now that I know she'll play with it, I'll buy the bigger one next time. No sence in paying alot for it to sit there. I wouldn't recommend it for straight chewers, (my pit dalmatian would have destroyed it in hours) but for a more gentle chewer, its great!

My dog wrecks the squeaker within a day or 2 but she loves her stuffies. She carries them around like a pacifier, even falls asleep with them in her mouth.

I had high expectations for this KONG toy, but it didn’t even come close. For a KONG, I expected it to be a whole lot stronger and this is labeled XL?! My dogs treated it like a warm-up snack, not a toy. Within no time, it had a hole and stuffing trying to make a dramatic escape. It’s soft and cute, sure, but definitely not built for dogs who actually dog. If your pup is even a mildly enthusiastic chewer, this won’t last. Disappointing, especially for a brand known for durability.
