I like keeping my dogs on a consistent, balanced diet, and this bundle has worked really well for Hazel and Poppy. The chicken recipe was easy for both of them to transition to, and the freeze-dried nugs made mealtime a little more exciting. Our dog is pretty picky when it comes to kibble so when she took great interest in me opening the bag I was quite hopeful. I was pleased when it did not have a foul odor like some of the foods do. The one thing I noticed right away is that the bag is not resealable. I wish the large bags would be resealable to keep the food fresh. Chloe is more gung ho about eating when the bag is first opened. By the time you get to the bottom of the bag all the great smells are gone and the food no longer appeals to her. The kibble pieces were a good size for her as were the freeze dried chicken chunks. I did notice that there are not a lot of the chicken cubes in a scoopful of food. When I put her bowl of food down she gave it the sniff test, picked up a few pieces in her mouth and took them over to her mat. She returned to the bowl and ate some at the bowl so I thought things were going well. Then I realized she was eating the chicken cubes and spitting the rest of the food all over the floor. As a dry option, this isn't the best choice for my picky girl, but I can see how this food would be really enticing to a dog who is not so finicky. The freeze dried chicken treats were a 100% big hit with her though. They are slightly bigger than the chunks in the food and she comes running for them!

This food surprised me with the great reaction Bandit had! He doesn't typically care much for freeze-dried food. However, after the first cautious sniff, he ate up both a bowl of Kismet and a Nug for dessert. Perhaps it suited him because the food is kibble with freeze-dried nuggets included, rather than a bowl of all freeze-dried food. I'm happy that he likes it, because this US-made food seems to have what I want for my dog: real chicken as the first ingredient (with no animal byproducts); freeze-dried chicken and sweet potato nuggets; pre- and probiotics. This food is suitable for all life stages. The picture on the package showed me that the kibble is a size and shape that is suitable for a smaller dog (my boy is a Sheltie). The side of the bag gives a feeding guide to help you fit it to your dog's diet, but you should always ask your vet when introducing a new food. The Nugs treats are good because they don't crumble as easily as some other freeze-dried bits, so I slide them across the floor for Bandit to chase - a little exercise with his snack. This pack also has a feeding guideline so you don't overdo the snacks. Definitely one to try for your dog!
