So I did a Chewy chat to find a bird seed with NO sunflower seeds and was pointed to this product. I should have read the reviews. Imagine my horror to open it and find its about 90% sunflower seeds. The most UNHEALTHY Seed for a parrot due to their high fat content. I would never feed it. Also you can tell its full of moth larvae so anyone that buys this FREEZE the food before you feed it to reduce the amount of moths that will hatch.

When I saw this food advertised I thought, "I've used Kaytee products before and they were always quality and at a fair price ". Was I ever wrong. I thought I was shipped wild birdfood by accident. The food consists of 90% sunflower seeds with some peanuts and some random peppers and birdseed thrown in. Not a proper diet for any parrot. I rescue abandoned and unwanted parrots, any size, any type, even physically challenged. I would not feed that less than standard food to my parrots. Parrots need nuts, fruit, fresh and dry, berries, fresh and dry and lots of fresh and dry vegetables. I was very disappointed in the quality and immediately had it taken off autoship. Very disappointed.

more sunflower seeds than other seeds

I have an African Grey , his main diet is pellets but he gets some seeds/nuts daily also I make his evening meal which I call Hot mix it's a variety of fresh fruits/veggies

I have an African Grey , his main diet is pellets but he gets some seeds/nuts daily also I make his evening meal which I call Hot mix it's a variety of fresh fruits/veggies and cooked pasta/beans /herbs /legumes . But as for the seeds/nuts , he is so picky if I get a mix with more nuts like almonds & hazelnuts & peanuts, he will only eat the peanuts rarely the hazelnuts but he will not eat almonds shelled or unshelled , and the other mix of seeds I normally buy seems to be increasing in just peanuts & almonds & sunflower seeds and millet , so it is a waste & sunflower seeds are very high in fat . I guess I'll go back to buying just what he likes verses a premade mix , but as for this seed lots of sunflower & millet very few whole peanuts .

Contaminated Product

Our first bag was fine. The second bag we received was full of little worms and grey flies. The bag is not sealed air tight and the material is not transparent either

Our first bag was fine. The second bag we received was full of little worms and grey flies. The bag is not sealed air tight and the material is not transparent either. The best description is like the blue nylon tarps that you use to haul and cover stuff with. I assume that the worms turned into the flies. The whole bag was contaminated and we were scared to screen the good looking items out for the safety of our parrot. This may be a isolated occurrence, but for the cost we will not order another. I like packages that are sealed and ones that you can see into the product.
