The opening for the Itty Bitty is approximately 2 ¼ X 2 ¼ inches. The opening for the Mini is approximately 3 X 2 ¼ inches. The opening for the Large is approximately 3 ½ X 4 ½ inches. The opening for the Giant is approximately 5 ½ X 6 ¾ inches.

Is the plastic safe for gerbils or will it get chewed through?

Butterscotch absolutely loves this igloo hide! She immediately went in it after chewy’s fast shipping and wasted no time to hide in it. You can’t choose the color you want when ordering as it’s luck of the draw at the time of order, I would of been happy for any color but I added my daughters piggy to my account with details(sex of piggy, name)and a photo so perhaps that had a factor in the color sent. Was over moon to see she got the Purple color as it works and looks fabulous in piggy’s cage. The igloo is translucent but it doesn’t seem to phase this lil girl(4 months old) and growing! We ordered the large and she has plenty of space in her cage as well as growing room. I recommend this product to piggy owners. Happy piggy!

THESE SIMPLY WORK WELL!

Our 5 guinea pigs accepted these well as soon as they showed us where they wanted them placed! (The blue hut came with the piggies). We have 2 homemade (29"x47" internal measurement) habitats. The rain and snows this year made it impossible to continue with my home-made fleece pads and huts. We wash animal laundry outside by hand. The boy dorm and the girl dorm both adjusted to disposable mat products from Chewy. We have 2 large mats underneath which don't always need changing like the small top ones. The piggies love having a large layer of Orchard grass with Timothy Hay on top. It is remarkable how they choose to relieve themselves away from the hay and grass. We refresh the habitats twice a day: early am, and after fresh veggies in pm. This has cut our cleaning maintenance by 30-40 min/day. The piggies don't chew the mats up. The plastic huts truly made sharing life with little guinea pigs more enjoyable!

I had not been able to find any in the pet stores, so I finally decided to get them here. Each of my hamsters has a color theme for their cages. I ordered 3 hoping to get the 3 colors that would match the cage themes, or at least get 2 that matched the themes. THEY SENT THE PERFECT COLORS!!! The hides are made of a much thicker plastic than I had expected. The label on the hideout was super easy to remove! I am so glad I ended up buying them!

So I bought the Giant Castle which is an oblong shape instead of round and I drilled 4 holes along the bottom. Then I flipped it over and attached 4 chains from the ceiling of their cage into the 4 holes I drilled. Then I tossed in some moisture absorbing bedding and let the girls do the rest.
