Smells good but does not last 14 days
The bedding itself smells good, but the scent does not last 14 days. I use this bedding for my two fancy mice and I have to clean their cage out every 3 days in
The bedding itself smells good, but the scent does not last 14 days. I use this bedding for my two fancy mice and I have to clean their cage out every 3 days in order to avoid an odor in my room. I still recommend the product, the mice love to burry themselves in it and the scent doesn’t seem to bother them at all.
Kaytee vs Carefresh - Rabbit Litter Box
Kaytee is softer and slightly more absorbent than the Carefresh bedding we had. Kaytee seems easier to break apart as well. We have tried the Kaytee without scent
Kaytee is softer and slightly more absorbent than the Carefresh bedding we had. Kaytee seems easier to break apart as well. We have tried the Kaytee without scent and with lavender. The lavender smells nice when you fill the litter box but I don't smell it after that. My bunny is not bothered by the scent and still uses her box. Our rabbit was using her box so much that Carefresh was not holding a day's worth of use but Kaytee does better. Our rabbit drinks and goes A LOT though so depending on your rabbit you could possibly get away with either.

But a little goes a long way and it cleans up easier and is much copier and warmer for them!!! Plus the lavender scent smells nice and seems to calm them.
Its all fun and games until they urinate

A lot of other reviews talk about the consistency being papery and I thought "its probably not that bad, its easy to adapt" well, it is actually like thick tissue paper. I guess it's up to preference but I feel like he went through it a lot faster because it didn't absorb and dry the liquid as well as the Care Fresh brand. Though its expansion is 10/10, it expands like a champ. Overall: The scent is great until the bedding is used. It expands A LOT which is great! The consistency of the paper is mediocre at best forcing you to replace it more often.

The thought of smelling lavender over pee was appealing enough to give this a try. Knowing that lavender oil can be harmful to animals, I found that Kaytee only uses the dried buds and leaves from the plant. Not only are they safe, guniea pigs also love them! The first time we cleaned the cage, we used a 50/50 mix (old type mixed with the lavender) but it wasn't necessary. Our little Pluto was ecstatic with this product! He was running around, chirpping happily and loves cage-cleaning days. His BFF, a little Lhasa Apso mix, also loves hanging out and sniffing the cage. We still scoop the cage often with a full clean out every week, but I have noticed a big improvement in the overall smell of the cage. Unless we find something superior, this will continue to be our standard bedding.

I have grown up with guinea pigs and have had constant allergic reactions to any wood shaving bedding that I've used. When I adopted my bunny I tried this new bedding and it's wonderful! It's not dust and doesn't cause me to sneeze. It covers up the smell of any bunny waste and the lavender scent smells great. I would definitely recommend anyone who is sensitive to dust or wood shavings/bedding to try this one out.

Not to mention it's almost half of the price o would pay in store and the quality is amazing. My guinea pigs liked the bedding a lot. At first I was skeptical because the guinea pigs were sniffing the bedding because of the scent and chewing on it a little, but they didn't swallow it.. I think they just needed to adjust to the new scent. I placed another order for Timothy hay yesterday and it's already on it's way today! Super impressed and Chewy is my go to now for pet products. Definitely worth every dollar and how cheap & fast it is to ship! Amazed!
Soft but Hardly Scented
I love how soft Kaytee's bedding is! (with exception to the natural stuff which isn't very soft) BUT the lavender scent on this stuff is very very faint. I know
I love how soft Kaytee's bedding is! (with exception to the natural stuff which isn't very soft) BUT the lavender scent on this stuff is very very faint. I know scented bedding isn't generally recommended for small animals, so I didn't want the scent to be overwhelming. I planned to mix some scented with some unscented bedding, but in the end, the lavender scent is undetectable. Kaytee bedding is great, but it's not worth the extra price to get scented stuff.

I wish i did more research before getting this from pet supplies plus as an emergency pack from what i usually get, the small pet select one which i will also not
I wish i did more research before getting this from pet supplies plus as an emergency pack from what i usually get, the small pet select one which i will also not be doing anymore. my hamsters skin is falling victim to the strong fragrance, made with real lavender or not. she’s itching NONSTOP and i feel like a terrible mom. don’t do this, just line the bottom of your hamster cage with baking soda for odor control. maybe some air purifiers (unscented) around the cage too.
