I have purchased this salt and while it is on sale I can get the 200 box of reef salt for 50 bucks at my local fish store so not much of a sale

Is reef crystal safe for salt water fish's

Answer by ChewyNov 19, 2018
While the product is fish safe, never mix salt in an aquarium containing animals. In new aquariums, transfer animals to the aquarium after salt is completely mixed and aerated and specific gravity has been adjusted.

Does this product have all the required additives and supplements?

Answer by ChewyNov 25, 2019

To all new and established established aquariest's, Instant Oceans Reef Salt, and Regular salt should be mixed 50/50% in Reef type tanks. Especially with "Stoney" corals. Reasoning I'm my 30+ yrs in Reef keeping, the regular instant ocean salt has a higher magnesium content, which promotes better coraline algae and stabilizes. The Reef salt contains all the other trace elements too assist coral growth ( of course other trace elements need to administered to maintain a healthy tank.

When I started in the saltwater hobby back in the early 1970's, there were very few companies out there to pick from when it came to buying aquarium salt BUT the company that was there back then and is still here today is Instant Ocean. I used their salt in the 1970's and now even with NUMEROUS companies offering their own brand of salt, I still use their brand of salt and it's because of the consistent water parameters this salt creates. If you're looking for a salt with consistent Calcium, Magnesium and Salinity levels, look no further than this salt for your reef environment!

I used this to make brackish water for Opae Ula shrimp. The only issue I have is that it arrived as one solid block of salt, so I have to take a knife and whittle it down to powder when I need to use some. Other than that, it does the job.

Horrible packaging

It’s a good product but they ship it in a giant box. The bucket flops around and breaks the box open. Surprised the buckets gets delivered in one piece.

Mostly Satisfied.

These 5 gallon buckets are heavy and placed in flimsy boxes which never hold up. The is not really required to ship them. Just place the label on the bucket
