An unopened bag of food will last until the expiration date stamped on the bag. Ideally, dry food and treats should be consumed within 6-8 weeks of opening the bag. Exposure to air, light, hot temperatures and humidity speeds up the rate at which foods degrade. To limit these effects, keep dry foods in their original packaging and store in a cool, dry location.

Thankful

We used Iams with our first 2 dogs and never had a problem (they lived long, very healthy lives). When they passed on we got a pit bull/Shepard mix puppy rescue

We used Iams with our first 2 dogs and never had a problem (they lived long, very healthy lives). When they passed on we got a pit bull/Shepard mix puppy rescue. The vet we went to told us to use hills science for his bowels bc he was having diarrhea.... Fast forward 3 years and many many expensive foods and he still never had solid stool, never got rid of his allergies and had issues with his glands. Anyways, we recently, slowly transitioned him to Purina for sensitive skin and stomach and he stopped eating completely. 0 eating for a few days. He just wasn't interested in it and would not touch it. He was eating snacks and other foods besides the Purina. This is when we decided just to go with what we have always known with our previous dogs in going back to Iams. I'm not lying, this dog looks forward to eating now and he actually has stool that is solid!!! And no gland issues... I know dog people will say kibble is bad blah blah blah, but I'm thankful we finally found something that has worked great and it's not hundreds of dollars a month.

Heavy packaging

First of all, let me just say....."We LOVE Chewy for our pet's needs" However, I usually order 3 large bags at a time for our 4 furbabies, and when more than one

First of all, let me just say....."We LOVE Chewy for our pet's needs" However, I usually order 3 large bags at a time for our 4 furbabies, and when more than one 30+ pound bags are placed together in one box, that box arrives heavily damaged. If those bags within are damaged and open, it could potentially leave my pet's food contaminated and unusable. This, to my knowledge, hasn't happened yet, but it's possible. I would prefer to 'prevent' that rather than report it after-the-fact. My suggestion is that when customers are purchasing larger bags of pet food that only one-bag-per-box be packed for shipping. PLEASE and Thank You. (I'm also certain the delivery person will appreciate it) :)

Expiration Date Wasn't Complete!

I needed to see the expiration date on the bag so I could decide to open this bag or another bag of Dry Food. The IAMS Bag expiration date showed, 9/27/202. I called

I needed to see the expiration date on the bag so I could decide to open this bag or another bag of Dry Food. The IAMS Bag expiration date showed, 9/27/202. I called the 800 number and gave the guy a bunch of numbers from the bag and he found the date as being 2026, which I appreciated. He told me he gets lots of calls with the same problem and callers often offer to send him a picture of their bag but, he said, if they can't read it how could I! Also, I was notified that the delivery was out for delivery and would receive it in the AM which was great because I had something I needed to get out and do and I worry about porch pirates which have been raising havoc as of late. It turned out to be delivered in the AM but at the house next door. I didn't get the delivery till after 5:30 PM when my neighbor brought it over and set it on my porch. There was no problem with the address on the box, just a problem with the Fed X driver who mis delivered it. My house has 2005 in plain site on it. I'm not mad but you asked.

We love Iams and Chewy!

A note on Iams-my picky eaters even love it, especially this lamb and rice recipe! All 4 of my dogs of different ages love Iams and are excited for meal times. Iams is vet recommended and formulated so babies are getting everything they need. All my dogs(2 small breed and 2 border collies) are active, have good and infrequent bowel movements and never have an upset tummy. My 8 year old is much more active since switching months ago. We do wish the big bag had the nicer material and feel of the smaller bags. ALSO Chewy is the absolute best and we love love them! Best customer service and timely shipments. I wouldn’t want to buy from anywhere else when it comes to my kids(dogs, ferrets and bunnies) 4 paws up to Iams and Chewy!

Picky eater

I'm a GSD/Husky who gives my mom heck when it comes to food. I will flat out refuse food, even if it's from proclaimed "best manufacturers". I know what I like and I don't. I really like this food and my brother who is on a special prescription diet is caught at times trying to steal bites out of my bowl, he likes it too. My dog gives me a headache when he chooses to stop eating. He will stop eating and choose to starve himself if he don't like a good. We've been through dozens of brands and hundreds of dollars trying to do what's best. What's best is that he likes it, he eats it and he's happy & healthy. So I'm happy.

I have two large dogs, a 100# GSD and an 68# Australian Cattle dog. Both dogs are food sensitive. I have purchased the larger (40 lb.) bag of the Lamb and Rice in large chunks. Both dogs refuse to eat the large chunks BUT will go through the mini bits Lamb and Rice bag quickly. The mini bits looks completely different than the large chunks and it appears my boys like the flavor of the mini bits quite a bit more!

The ease to order and the speed of shipping is always important when you have 3 dogs to feed. I love that chewy used fed ex and packages the food to the best of their abilities. A few times I have received dented cans and called to complain and it’s always been we will credit your account and if you don’t feel comfortable giving it to your pet discard it or donate it, to me that means chewy cares about our pets like their own, that’s not common in this day and age and I love it and will continue to be a chewy customer

Best customer service I've ever experienced.

This has more to do with customer service I received after I found out that my dog needs a special dog food and cannot have what I'd ordered. He liked this food

This has more to do with customer service I received after I found out that my dog needs a special dog food and cannot have what I'd ordered. He liked this food but has been taken off of it because his vet suspects strongly that he has food allergies. He did like this food and I had ordered two additional large bags which I of course cannot use. The customer service representative gave a refund on the unopened bags and didn't require a return, only asking that I donate the unused food to a local animal shelter. With the credit I received I immediately ordered the new more expensive food, but I am so thankful that I at least wasn't out the money for the two unopened bags. Of course I will donate the food, and in addition have told all of my pet-owning friends what fantastic service I have received. Thank you Brittiney!

My dog is allergic to chicken, so he prefers lamb above all. He had an ex owner about 2 years ago giving him salmon and he would itch a lot and vomit it. I made many changes and introduce him Taz (my dog) to about 3-5 different dried dog foods until I tried, gave, and continue on giving Taz IAMS. He loves it. I love chewy's prices for auto ship, best part you can add and take away items anytime from next shipment. I have an English bulldog btw!
