Questions & Answers

does the greenies chicken flavor indoor formula good for hairball treatment?

Answer by ChewyFeb 05, 2022
Healthy indoor is good for hairball treatments and is in fact the rebranding of the hairball greenies.

Why does this have powdered cellulose? That is insoluable wood fibers. That doesn’t seem safe for cats.

Answer by ChewySep 17, 2019
Powdered cellulose is used in both human and animal foods, and it can be derived from cooking plant fibers. This ingredient is not harmful for cats, dogs, or humans and is used as a filler. Studies also suggest that this form of fiber may help control hairballs.

Where are these treats manufactured?

Answer by ChewyMay 07, 2019
These treats are made in the United States.

My cat is on grain free diet. Would this hairball treat upset her stomach while on grain free diet?

Answer by ChewyJun 02, 2020
If your pet has a grain sensitivity or allergy these Greenies Feline SmartBites cat treats would not be recommended.

My cats and I were being overwhelmed by the number of hairballs they were experiencing. I originally tried Zesty Paws Hairball Bites but they would not eat them. I consulted with the outstanding customer service department and they recommended these. The hairballs have practically stopped! Just a note ~ the name has changed, no longer mentioning this being a hairball remedy. Thanks again Chewy!

My two senior cats were beginning to have issues with hair balls. I started them on the Greenies, feeding according to the directions on the package. The vomiting has almost disappeared. My cats love, love, love these and beg for them all day long. In an effort the keep them from gobbling down all the treats at one, I bought the puzzle feeder balls. My Diamond figured it out right away. It takes him 2-3 minutes to get all the treats out of the ball. Katmandu hasn't a clue. I slowly hand feed his treats while Diamond is working th puzzle ball. As a cat mom, I know all cats are different, but my guys love these and I'm pretty sure they would recommend them to their friends. Or they would just keep them all for themselves.

Cats love them when they’re not smashed

3rd time they packaged these poorly and they’re smashed by the heavy litter boxes, so we’re giving up on having these shipped regularly we’ll buy these locally

3rd time they packaged these poorly and they’re smashed by the heavy litter boxes, so we’re giving up on having these shipped regularly we’ll buy these locally . It’s bad because even scooping up all the loose greenies there’s little shards of broken plastic we could miss but the cats could eat. You’d think someone would put some more thought into how these are packaged.

Have you ever seen a hairball?

I never had a strictly indoor cat until 2016. After only two full years of living with an indoor cat that never, never goes out, I love this kitty. Her name is Tweety and came to me at the age of six [vet says she is younger, but can anyone know for sure?] with her name. Unless the animals name is grossly disgusting, I never change their names. Anyway, when the owner said that Tweety never had a hairball, I was elated, even though I did not really know what a hairball was. I followed the owners instructions to brush the kitty all the time: [1] because she loves to be brushed. And, yes, that is true.] and [2] because that is why she never had a hairball. So, when I saw the first hairball, I freaked. At first, I thought it was a dead mouse because my kitty does not have hairballs. So wrong was I. Even as I looked closer at the muck on the floor and realized it was a hairball...well, that is when this idea of brushing her a lot needed some reinforcements. Thankfully, I asked the vet and he suggested this Greenies Smartbites hairball prevention treat. Tweety is 13 pounds. I give her only eight or nine hairball treats a day. It has been 20 months since I saw that ugly up chuck. We are so extremely happy for this hairball treat. Fortunately, my kitty loves it, too. Yes, I suggest you try this treat. Give it as instructed everyday. If you do it right, you will be as happy as I am that someone was as smart as a smartbite to figure out the formula against hairballs. Now, the family can go back to going shoeless inside because our inside only kitty is under the control of Smartbites hairball control.

Used to be hairball treats...

The name has been changed from Hairball Control to Healthy Indoor treats, but the nice folks at the Greenies website replied promptly to my question about what happened

The name has been changed from Hairball Control to Healthy Indoor treats, but the nice folks at the Greenies website replied promptly to my question about what happened to the hairball treats. It seems only the name has changed, so I hope they can still help my long hair cat and the occasional hairballs. He still loves them and they still work as before in the past two weeks. So if you're looking for Hairball Control Greenies, the name was changed to Healthy Indoor. The Greenies are the only treats he won't turn away from. No matter the variety, he looks forward to this brand.

Even though I love my Greenies...

I'm gonna have to let my mommy take this one cause she gets so angry if my stuff isn't right for me. Call it a combination of the cheap plastic container greenie uses coupled with chewy's lack of common sense when shipping a 5 1/2 pound bag of kitty food in the same box without padding as the 16oz greenies container, but the greenies always come crushed by the food and shards of sharp plastic end up sprinkled throughout the greenies so I have to pick them all out and bag what's good, but I'm afraid my baby might eat small slits of plastic chards that I may overlook. I thought since Chewy sent me a replacement the last time, separately packaged, I thought they'd know better than to ship these items this way again but I guess not. Oh well, just means I have to find an alternative fix for myself. :-)

I've been giving my cat Greenies hairball treats for a few years now, and he honestly gets a lot less hairballs then in years past. This past year, my boyfriend adopted a 4 year old cat from a shelter, and he didn't quite know what to do with treats. You could tell that if he ever had treats in the past, it was few and far between. Now, this cat is a treat begging machine! He loves his Greenies, and I have not seen a hairball come out of him! Two happy cats give 4 paws up for greenies!

She counts her treats

Other than the obvious, who wants to brush their cat’s teeth? Like, have you tried? Didn’t think so. These are not the perfect answer but they serve their purpose

Other than the obvious, who wants to brush their cat’s teeth? Like, have you tried? Didn’t think so. These are not the perfect answer but they serve their purpose and Pistachio loves them! Occasionally, upon shipping and or driver neglect, the package would shift and the yummy treats container would be obliterated and sadly so were many of the treats. Pistachio would be sad. Kudos for the safer packaging, the yummies are now getting here safely. Pistachio is happy when the Chewy box arrives. Personally, I feel it’s for the box itself. Thank you to who evah finally added that recycled solution.

The slow decline continues

Been ordering these for years, watching them quietly slide downhill like everything else lately. The new container is cheap, thin plastic...the lid barely stays

Been ordering these for years, watching them quietly slide downhill like everything else lately. The new container is cheap, thin plastic...the lid barely stays on. When I picked it up, it tore off and dumped half the contents. What remained looked like tiny pieces of hamster feed, not the sturdy pieces they used to be. Classic example of a once great product getting cheapened and ruined in the name of executive profits. I’m done. It's time to find a brand that still cares.
