Yes - the whole bed is a pillow. The sides aren’t firmer or harder than the rest of the bed.

is the cover removable to wash

No… it’s all one solid piece of fabric. It can probably be put into a larger sized washing machine, but I’ve hand-washed these and thrown into a dryer.

will the small frisco faux suede bolster fit a shih tzu

Is the small bed 21 inches across like the back and front or up the sides like running along the sides

The interior sleeping dimensions of the Small measure 14 x 12 x 5 inches, the Medium is 17 x 14 x 6 inches and the Large is 23 x 17 x 6 inches.
