This aspen bedding is perfect for colubrid snakes and other species that burrow. Its texture is more suited to burrowing than the shredded aspen bedding and it is easier to find and spot clean after they urinate or defecate. It also seemed to go much further and one 24-qt package was enough for the three colubrid enclosures I have at the moment. If you're dealing with a reptile that needs high humidity, I'd still recommend sticking to cypress or coconut as this substrate won't hold humidity well enough for those species. All-in-all, this is a really nice substrate for low to mid-humidity reptile species that like to burrow. The small pieces also make it less likely they'll ingest any pieces large enough to present a health issue while feeding.

Too much for my small snakes & terrariums
Did not use this product since it was too much for my little snakes in their small terrariums so I donated it to the local reptile store. They seemed to love it

This snake bedding is the best that I’ve used. The snakes seem to be happy with it and love to hide away in it. It is soft to the touch, each to clean up, and doesn’t have a bad smell! I love that it eco-friendly and free from chemicals, parasites and other harmful stuff! It also has great absorption, leading to easier clean up and less odor.

The bedding is also very absorbent staying fresh and nice smelling for long periods of time. This bedding is not only great for reptiles but is great for chick brooders and caged chickens.
