Does anyone use this with a litter robot and how well does it work

Answer by ChewyJan 27, 2021
The Litter-Robot simply requires high-quality clumping litter.

Is this definitely low tracking

Answer by ChewyOct 05, 2022
This litter is made with larger particles and strong clumping power to help reduce tracking, keeping litter in the box and cat's paws clean.

Does this litter contain silica? Even in trace amounts or ANY form of silica?

Clean Paws Simply Unscented Clumping Clay Cat Litter is formulated with antimicrobial properties to prevent bacterial odor growth on the litter, and high-quality clay to absorb liquids and trap odors. It does not contain silica.

New packaging- Extremely dusty?

I’ve always loved this litter because it was low tracking with minimal dust. I still like that it doesn’t have a strong smell and it keeps the boxes smelling decently

I’ve always loved this litter because it was low tracking with minimal dust. I still like that it doesn’t have a strong smell and it keeps the boxes smelling decently fresh between changing the litter. However this time when I purchased in February 2026 with the new packaging look, it’s so dusty I’m considering changing brands. The entire floor was coated with a layer of dust after one day. Dusty paw prints everywhere. Clouds come up when I scoop it and I’m sure the cats are breathing in so much dust when they use the box. It is also finer than it used to be so it is tracking everywhere. I would say this creates triple the mess. I can still smell the litter dust in the air, standing a good 5 yds away from the box after I scooped it. If this isn’t a one time quality issue I will be pretty disappointed since none of the other brands I’ve tried were truly low tracking, or didn’t stink. I wonder if a lot of people are having the same problem?

Clumps really well!

I’m always looking for a better litter and this seems to be a top choice right now. It clumps nicely and doesn’t fall apart while shoveling. It doesn’t turn to cement clay in the bottom of the box. And, it doesn’t get as stuck in their paws, actually hardly at all. My senior, Charlie, dips his paws in his water bowl as if to wash them before drinking. The litter pieces in the bottom of the bowl use to be frightening to think of how much litter was being left behind as well as ingesting. This litter was greatly reduced the debris. I’m very happy about that.

Different formula pros and cons (pros win out)

Long time user of the Fresh Step Simply Unscented and loved it (good clumps, low smell, low tracking). A few months ago, got the new formula, the Low Tracking

Long time user of the Fresh Step Simply Unscented and loved it (good clumps, low smell, low tracking). A few months ago, got the new formula, the Low Tracking. Darker color, not as great smell protection, harder to clean the clumps (they stick to the sides/bottom). Cat wasn't covering up stuff as much, so I think he didn't quite like it as much either. HOWEVER! My cat has been a chronic puker (furballs), on sensitive stomach food, the works. His stomach got MUCH BETTER on this new Clean Paws formula. His appetite improved, less vomiting. I think ingesting less litter helped his stomach. So I will have to clean the litter box a bit more frequently, but worth it. So though I thought I didn't like the formula change, I think I actually do like it!

Excellent litter box. Warning it gets heavy

I have a big boy and he looked cramped in his regular litter box so I decided to get him a bigger one. This one is perfect. It is huge with a slightly lower front

I have a big boy and he looked cramped in his regular litter box so I decided to get him a bigger one. This one is perfect. It is huge with a slightly lower front for easy access. But, and I know this common sense but I didn’t think of it before putting it in use, since it’s so big it uses a lot more liter which makes it heavy. Very heavy. I can barely pick it up. So if you can lift heavy things without a problem or can clean your box without lifting I highly recommend this box. I pour the litter every day through a sifter so I have to lift it. I think the box is perfect so I’m going to keep using the box as long as my back can take it.

Best so far

I have been going back and forth trying to find a decent litter. I have one cat who is diabetic, so he does pee quite a bit at times. The thing is, I don't use

I have been going back and forth trying to find a decent litter. I have one cat who is diabetic, so he does pee quite a bit at times. The thing is, I don't use scented litter. It stinks. People who use it, I know right away they have cats because their homes stink. When my friends and family come over for the first time, the only way they ever know I have a cat is because he leaves his toys all over the place. Other than that, you would never know. So, I like to keep that aspect going. I like low dust, low tracking and odor control. Easy to clean is good too, but I scoop that box daily, numerous times, like I said, he is diabetic and I check it often and if I see something I scoop it. I clean his box with soap and water and a sponge once a week. Some people do it less often, that's fine, but don't complain when your house stinks when you have 2+ cats and you only clean your box once a month if that, and you don't scoop every day. If that's the case, no litter is going to help you. Also, if you have a tracking issue, try an extra large litter mat. I use puppy pads instead of a mat. Sometimes his pee shoots outside the box! I like this litter, I recommend it. Stop being picky. If your cat likes it, stick with it.

Closest to purrfect

I have three indoor cats and two XL cat boxes. I have tried nearly all of the litter brands available and I find the Fresh Step Clean Paws unscented to be the best

I have three indoor cats and two XL cat boxes. I have tried nearly all of the litter brands available and I find the Fresh Step Clean Paws unscented to be the best. I DO clean the clumps out of both litter boxes every day, adding new litter when needed to keep them at a 2-3" level. About every 6 weeks, I let the litter level decrease for about a week so that I can totally empty the box and scrub it clean. The used litter is then disposed, and all new litter is put in the clean and dried box. I've been using this method for many years and I have very happy and clean cats. While no kitty litter is perfect, this one is the best at dust control (when filling, hold the box or bag close to the cat box to minimize the dust), and odor control (you have to remove the clumps and poop every day or two.. use those plastic bags from the grocery store, doubled). I don't like to use scented litter because it isn't healthy for the cats. I also keep a litter box mat directly in front of each box to control most of the tracking. My friends tell me that they never smell a cat odor in my home.

Packaging

The price went up and the quality went down and there is no protection wrapped around each box of cat litter Lost a lot of the liter from each box from the box

The price went up and the quality went down and there is no protection wrapped around each box of cat litter Lost a lot of the liter from each box from the box not being heavy duty and not covered with plastic for protect and then the quality is lower grade I have used fresh step for about 20 years and they do have different quality and I was getting the best they had and they worked with the plastic protection, until now I just bought 6 of this kind and have six cats that use it , which I will go through faster now that it has been down graded in quality but cost went up

We’ve cycled through quite a few litter brands. This one finally does what it says. Cypher’s little feet don’t track litter through the house anymore. They are not coated in litter which he then licks off. Ew. More surprisingly, the litter box odor is almost nonexistent. I’m quite pleased with Fresh Step Clean Paws.

Great the first couple of days....

We have an older Sphynx kitten, a senior adult cat, and two cat boxes. My normal litter works great, but the kitten tracks it. Unfortunately, one of the cat boxes is in our bedroom, and now both cats have decided to use it almost exclusively. I am desperately trying to eliminate the tracking, as the kitten gets it in our bed, which makes us crazy. Clean Paws is great at low tracking and no odors, but as other reviewers mentioned, it becomes like concrete in the bottom and is almost impossible to scoop. I scoop 2 to 3 times daily, and after a few days, it is ready to be changed. So even though I love the fact that it is low tracking, it is not cost effective to be dumping a cat box every 5 days. Not sure what my options are at this point as no other litter seems to be non tracking according to customers' reviews. Ideally, we need to move the bedroom box to the garage where the other box is (which contains are usual brand of litter), but the kitten is mischievous and we don't want her to get into anything out there that she shouldn't!
