I have two redfoot tortoises who LOVE getting dried shrimp as an occasional snack or crushed and sprinkled on greens. With other brands they seek out the shrimp, crunch them down, and digest them with no issues. I thought I'd try a new/cheaper brand but something about this brand REALLY upsets my tortoise's digestion and causes watery diarrhea with undigested food in it and mucousy stools indicating gut irritation. I recently had both tortoises thoroughly tested for parasites and anything else that could cause illness and they came back clean so I know it's not that. I've trialed it a couple of times to make sure it really is this shrimp, and unfortunately it is. There are a lot of miscellaneous little fish mixed in with the shrimp, so it's possible it's caused by that (though I try to pick them out for my torts). The packaging doesn't say anything about miscellaneous other little dried creatures being present though so I don't know what they are to figure out what could be causing the issue. I don't have any aquatic turtles so these could be fine for them, but they definitely aren't okay for redfoot tortoises.

The shrimp in the bag look pulverized.

The shrimp used to be small shrimp. Now it is tails, heads and ground up whatever. Not many whole shrimp. It has been like this the last 2 bags.

Great!

I didn't know these treats existed before receiving them. When Biggie comes out of his state of semi-hibernation and begins to eat again, I'm pretty sure he'll

Pieces and Parts

There might be 5 whole shrimp in the entire bag. It seems more shell than anything.,my turtle is not impressed and neither am I.
