Feliway classic, multicat, and optimum all say feline pheromone at 2% in the ingredient list; why is the optimum so much more expensive and I have to buy new difusers if they all have the same amount of feline pheromone in them?

Does this help with two male cats that atent neutered?

Answer by ChewyMar 29, 2018
We'd recommend using the MultiCat system in the room where the cats frequent the most, it should help calm and reduce tensions.

I first saw these in my Vets office. Was skeptical, but put several around the house. (I do Cat Rescue, and have a mini cat hotel in progress) The results were noticed within a week. With so many diffusers a large economy refill bottle would be nice :)

Answer by ChewyJan 19, 2018
At this time, this refill is only available in a 48 milliliters bottle.

Does it matter if the outlet is higher up on the wall or does it have to be closer to the floor?

Answer by ChewyMay 15, 2018
Plug diffuser unit into the room where the cat spends the most time. Avoid plugging in the diffuser under shelves, behind doors, behind curtains, behind furniture. Doing this will impair diffusion.

I have been using these over the past year to help my two cats adjust to being together. They are expensive and don’t cover a lot of square footage so you need multiple for them to be effective. I have continued using them because they have helped my cats get along without constant fighting hence two stars. A few weeks ago I noticed an abnormal smell and found that one of them was leaking into the outlet it was plugged into nearly causing a house fire. Due to this safety concern I’ll no longer be using these and I am tossing the product. After doing some googling I found that many people have had similar experiences. There is also a tiny print warning on the box that says that the product is fatal if ingested. It makes me uncomfortable having something toxic at eye level with a young cat that gets into and touches everything. Obviously it hasn’t killed her yet but that doesn’t mean it won’t if she decides to touch the diffuser. The warning should really be larger and they should warn of potential safety hazards since this seems to be a reoccurring problem with the product. I’ll try the pheromone spray over this and hope for the best. It’s better than burning down my house or harming my pets.

I bought this to help my stressed out cat after hearing about it online. I've purchased 3 diffusers and each one just leaves an oily residue on the wall above the outlet. It was an awful lot and you can't change the amount of oil diffused either, so I have no use for these now. Messy and upsetting because I really would love to keep this on auto ship.

Pumpkin starts by kindly grooming Baby and slowly starts becoming aggressive - a nip here, a bite here. Eventually, he’s pinning her down by her neck and biting her while she’s growling and yowling. Drives me crazy. The behavior isn’t 100% gone, but it seems to have decreased somewhat. Pumpkin is 4 and Baby is 12, so it breaks my heart for both of them to go through this. Both are spayed and neutered. At least it’s calming down for now.

We use Multi Cat Feliway to manage stressful events in our household. We begin using it prior to any anticipated stressful event, during the event and for a period of time afterward. For example, prior to introducing a new animal to the household, when we have someone working in our home on HVAC or home repairs or whatever, or when one of our kitties is sick or post surgery. We have found the Multi Cat to be the best of the Feliway options for our household. We always have them on hand, and buy them in bulk when they're on sale. We are convinced they make a significant difference.

I wasn't sure this was working in our old house, but we moved and my younger cat was so anxious she was hiding nearly all the time and barely ate for 5 days (little nibbles or treats only) I grabbed it from our old place and plugged in it, within HOURS she was out and about investigating and ate all of her food for the first time in so long. Both my cats are now freely roaming the new home and I am a happy cat mom!

I got this to help with a new kitten we brought in off the street, as my resident cat was very territorial. After 3 months of using Feliway, it is very clear that these do not work like they claim. They have had zero impact on the cat's behavior. The only things that work are time and effort, I feel that these products are misleading. Very disappointed in the money I've wasted on Feliway products.

All 7 of my cats......there are always one or two who will not play nice with each other, and one that is a terror to all! This is my household. Things are not perfect but by golly, I do notice a fairly significant difference. I have a 1200sf home and I purchased two of these, one for each end of the house.

My boy cat has the tendency to be aggressive with his sisters even though they've been together since they were born, but I digress. The Feliway Multicat was recommended by the Chewy vet chat and it was a great recommendation! He's definitely calmed down and there's a big reduction in his aggression. I'm on my second refill so I am hopeful it continues to work.

I’ve used Feliway for years. First for our elderly cat who was easily upset by other animals. And then for our new kitten and two fosters. The three get along well but one of the boys gets rough with the girl. I’m a little disappointed the Feliway doesn’t work better but I’m attributing it to kitten hyper-ness.
