I ordered the small crickets and was surprised how little they were compared to the small crickets you get at a big box pet store. This was great as I have several baby anoles and although I got these for my adults, they were small enough some of the more mature babies could eat them. However all 120 were dead in less than 24 hours. They were immediately brought inside, given hydration and food. I keep my crickets in a terrarium so they have plenty of room and aren’t fighting/ eating eachother. Temps both outside and inside were warm. Really not sure what happened. The second time I received them (on accident as I forgot I had put them on my auto ship) they came in a smashed container. I don’t understand why at this time of year (fall going into winter) there wasn’t at least some paper to hold the container in place and add some insulation. Since these were ordered by mistake I didn’t have high hopes they’d all be alive given current temps and know live animals in shipping is a risk but I am genuinely surprised at the lack of care in shipping. I reported this to Chewy customer service in hopes they could recommend a fix. Bummed these didn’t work out because finding small enough food for baby anoles in my area is tough.

Most of the crickets were dead upon delivery. This is the second time in a week I received a cricket order and they are dead. I assume this is because they are not being packaged in a way to keep them warm. Photos attached of the day they were delivered and the next day.

I have ordered these live crickets four separate times, and every single order has arrived completely dead. I also paid extra for expedited/overnight shipping, yet they never arrived overnight. I’m honestly not surprised they were dead considering how they were packaged. The crickets were sealed inside a taped-up box with little to no ventilation. Crickets need oxygen to survive, like most living things. Being packed this way means they likely suffocated during transit, which is both unacceptable and inhumane. Between the consistent DOA shipments, the failure to deliver overnight despite paying extra, and the poor packaging, this product has been a complete waste of money every time. I would not recommend purchasing live crickets from Chewy unless their shipping and packaging methods change.

My crickets were delivered today. I met the delivery driver outside! He was asking what lizard it was for, and I said my 2 bearded dragons. Well when I opened the box and transferred them into a plastic carrying case, and put jelly pods in them I noticed that my crickets were dead.

I ordered a double order because I usually feed my chameleon three to five crickets a day and we go through them so quickly this past order I ordered a double order then what I usually do and out of the box there were so many of them that were dead and starting to rot and harden also I wouldn't say parasites but there were other bugs in there with them little Beatles worms and other things and I'm going to go back to the smaller order so that they'll last because the double order lasted close to the same amount if not shorter than the regular orders amount of time because they kept dying

Topical house crickets not good

The next time I order crickets for my gecko to eat I don't think I will do topical crickets they are horrible they may be resistant to disease but they unalive themselves

The next time I order crickets for my gecko to eat I don't think I will do topical crickets they are horrible they may be resistant to disease but they unalive themselves so easily they die so easy and these ones I think had parasites because there was these little flies in their container with them I don't know what those were and then I found a worm and Gary's water and I'm like what and Gary doesn't have parasites I've checked his poop he's fine but it's the crickets and they are so dumb I have never had crickets this stupid before the ones that have the wings the regular brown crickets I normally buy those guys are smarter than these guys these topical crickets or banded crickets are the dumbest crickets I have ever seen like half of them have died for no reason at all they are the dumbest crickets I give them cricket food and they ignore the cricket food and just kill each other and eat each other and I'm like I give up I had them in their own tank with fresh everything substrate and all that and they had fresh food and everything and they just ignored the food and ate each other and I said I'm not ordering these crickets again they are horrible and they're super loud even though they're wingless and even though Gary is eating them slowly I don't think he likes them as much as the bigger crunchier ones anyway yeah topical house crickets AKA band crickets or the South Asian crickets as they call them these guys suck they are the worst cricket they will purposely throw themselves in my geckos water when I put them in there to feed him and drown themselves within minutes and almost every day I've had to change his water because there's constantly crickets throwing themselves in the water when I put them in there to feed him and they're just killing themselves the dumbest crickets I've ever bought in my life
