Farnam SandClear has been the most problem free psyllium product I have used. There are several less expensive ones but I have tried 5 of them and all have caused at least one horse to either have bad gas or diarrhea. None of my horses have ever had a bad reaction to the Farnam SandClear. And Chewy's 50# bucket price absolutely cannot be beat. Which is why it sells out frequently.

We live in North FL, with very sandy soil. I regularly dose my two horses with Sand Clear to keep sand from impacting and causing sand colic. Works well, but I have one very important warning for dog owners. My 10 month old, 85 lb Weimaraner evidently ate some horse poop containing the Sand Clear. I found out when he began throwing up at 2a.m. I found what looked like piece of root. On closer inspection, I found it to be an elongated piece of manure. I found it strange that it didn't break apart. Curious, I put it in water to see if the sand would separate from the poop. After several days, this piece of poop was swollen, but still intact. No change after a week, except that it had swelled larger. The poop was of a gelatinous nature. The elongated shape was likely due to going down his throat. The poop doesn't break down...... If he hadn't been able to throw it up, he would have ended up in surgery. Soooo, the message here is - keep your dogs away from the barn during treatment.

My POA mare did NOT like this at first. I added the entire recommended amount to one feeding. Adding a partial amount to a couple feedings worked better. I gradually added until I was at the dose I wanted. It will be interesting to see how she does on the second month.

This is mandatory for drought conditions. The fields and paddocks had very exposed dirt and rocks where the horses grazed and there were definitely colic-y horses. One even was treated for a cecal impaction. Since rotating every horse through a 7 day cycle per month, as instructions indicate, zero horses have had ANY issues. Luckily Chewy carries the large sized bucket. Thank you.

We relocated to Florida from NY and needed to buy a supplement to add to their grain to help reduce the sand in their grazing times. I found this supplement and it is a wonderful size and had it shipped to the barn my horses are at. Very satisfied with the price and delivery fee. I will reorder again and again.

The vet recommended it to be sure my mare's gut was clear. Years ago, Annie had colic surgery and some stone dust was found in her small intestines along with two other problems. Doc says it is absolutely necessary as part of the mare's supplements and individula care program to prevent problems. She hasn't had colic since.

I was very dubious about using psyllium. But I had to do something for my one horse. I started him out at a low dosage, the recommended one scoop and saw some progress. I have since upped him to 2 scoops and instead of the usual 7 days, went 12 days. He still has the occasional glompy poop, but there are actual turds in it now. I will continue to use this product with a hopefully 3 week break in between usage.
