Is this safe for dogs?

This supplement is only formulated to be used with horses.

This electrolyte can be used up to 12 hours prior to exercise or travel to help minimize electrolyte loss. It's best to be given in approximately 20 cc increments to minimize any paste being “dropped” from the mouth. It may then be given every 4 - 6 hours if needed.

My vet prescribed 15ml/day of oral electrolytes when my mare got out of hospital. This is one of the few products that has more than one dose in the syringe. I can get 4 doses from one syringe, and it must taste good, because she doesn't try to spit it out like some other brands.

Always keep this on hand

You never know when you're going to need electrolytes. Several weeks ago, one of my guys was colicky. Vet said give him electrolytes as we were having a cold snap

You never know when you're going to need electrolytes. Several weeks ago, one of my guys was colicky. Vet said give him electrolytes as we were having a cold snap. Also said give to my other horse, then again in the morning. It made all the difference. Anytime a sharp temperature change is expected, I give them a tube to ward off problems. So I keep several tubes on hand at call times. A lot easier to administer than mixing powders.

Apple Elite had one of the best ingredient compositions in this lineup, making it an attractive choice for those who prioritize formula quality. The paste was white in color, thick, and grainy, with no noticeable smell. Unlike Redmond or Smartlytes, this paste had no flavor or aftertaste, which can be a plus for sensitive horses. The larger tube size and included measuring ring made dosing accurate and easy, a big advantage over Smartlytes. However, the thick and chunky texture made it slightly more difficult to work with.
