If you are a pet parent and you feed your dog Farmina the ocean line because they have allergies to CHICKEN, LOOK AT THE INGREDIENTS. The updated ingredients now contain chicken fat and pork!!!!! I’ve fed my dogs Farmina for YEARS and when a friend of mine informed me they heard Farmina was going to start putting chicken in the FISH line I immediately had to switch because my dogs have a chicken allergy. So if your dog has a chicken or pork allergy, SWITCH FOODS NOW. I can’t believe that Farmina did this for people who already pay an astronomical amount of money for this food for the purpose of it not having added ingredients lurking in it like CHICKEN.

This is the best dog food. The ingredients are excellent and meet diverse nutritional needs. All three of my dogs are on it. They are all extremely healthy, with great feeling coats, healthy eyes, noses, and smell so good. All extremely high quality ingredients. It’s expensive but worth it imo, because it’ll save on vet bills in the long term with how healthy they are! I’ve trusted Farmina for over 6 years now, and the recipe has stayed consistent and excellent.

After the FDA notices that came out last year, I decided to transition my dog away from her grain-free food. Farmina was the second grain-inclusive kibble that I tried and my dog seemed to thrive on it from day one. Her transition began in late November 2018 and while her stools were mildly soft for a couple of months, they are now totally normal and about half the size they were on her previous food. Her coat looks and feels AMAZING and for the first time in the 4 winters that I've had her, she grew a lovely winter coat. Is that totally due to the food--I don't know, but it's the only dietary change that she's had. With fluctuating availability, I've used both the mini and the medium sized kibble and both work fine for my ~45 pound dog. She's a staffy mix and has always had frequent death farts. The flatulence has dramatically decreased since we completed the transition. All in all, I couldn't be happier. Farmina isn't completely WSAVA compliant due to the lack of true feeding trials, but I feel confident in the science behind their kibble and that my dog will be safe from nutritionally related DCM.

Since we opened this new bag my dog hasn't been thrilled with the kibble - he's been eating slowly and leaving kibble in the bowl. Today he would only eat a small amount, so I started hand-feeding him, and was poked by something sharp when I reached for the kibble. Never have I seen fish bones in kibble like this. Cooked, sharp bones like this can cause internal perforations and are very dangerous! I reached out to Chewy to let them know and they offered to refund, but only if I mail the 26lb bag back, which I've never heard of them doing. I asked Chewy if they would be testing the kibble since they requested it back, and they said they didn't know, so I also reached out to Farmina to report it. It looks like this product is now 20% off, so I wonder if others have reported similar issues. I always felt like Chewy backed pet owners, but this situation makes me question that. Farmina seems like a good brand, but I wouldn't trust the fish recipes. Maybe once they open their manufacturing plant in the US will I give their other recipes a try.

I have been purchasing this for a couple of years believing that it’s a product of Italy bcuz on the front it states Italian Formula with the Italian flag. Closer inspection of a very faint stamp actually shows it to be made in Serbia. Who would purchase dog food high end made in Serbia? I should be reimbursed for this behavior but I’m definitely cancelling all future orders and others need to be aware of this.

Our one year old GSD was on Purina Pro Plan from when we first brought her home until she turned a year old. When she was about 8-10 months old we noticed that she was extremely itchy and started biting herself until the point of bleeding. That was when we brought her to the vet and she was diagnosed with seasonal allergies, being that it was early spring time, and given some medication. The medication did not seem to help her but the vet insisted that the allergies were just really bad this season for many dogs. Once mid summer hit the “seasonal allergies” had still not subsided. After reading many forums on other dog owners having similar issues, the underlying problem always seemed to be the food. I found this food that was recommended for dogs with allergies and sensitive stomachs. We made the switch when she turned a year old and she’s been on it for 3 months now. The itching and biting stopped almost immediately and we have not had any allergy related issues since. Plus she absolutely loves it!

I recently got a new bag of food in July. We still had the old bag left, so I used the rest of that and opened this one around July 15th. Normally new bags, my dog is excited and tries to eat fresh out the bag. This time he didn't though which I thought was strange. He also usually eats consistently without any need for coaxing, upon this newer bag he was turning his nose up at his food! Shortly after his bowel movements slowed considerably, and then he got horribly sick and we ended up in the emergency vet and need antidiarrheal. He is 7.5 and is well monitored so I was confused to what caused all these issues for him. It stumped the vet as well. I came here to review ingredients and other info and see if anything changed and saw the reviews and update where the manufacturer changed to Serbia!!! Now to be fully clear, I have no proof any of his recent digestive issues are related to this, but it would certainly be a very strange series of coincidences. I was considering returning this bag to get a new one just in case it was bad batch. Which now seeing the manufacturer fully changed countries, just makes me question if something is seriously wrong with this dry food now. This sucks because my dog is so picky and has allergies and this has been the one food he has always consistently love and kept going for. His skin conditions also got better from suspected allergies. I have bene regularly buying this for almost 3 years now, and patterns have been very consistent. For so many things to change with the new bag in July and then his health and everything also, It is very hard not to think the food is the cause. If I can no longer trust the quality, why am I paying over $100 for this bag? Again not sure this was the cause, but the coincidences are a little crazy! This is incredibly disappointing. I am not sure what to even do right now. I think I definitely want to stop feeding him this bag and see if his condition improves.

My dog has loved and done well on this food for years. We liked the cod formula because it had no chicken and my girl has a severe allergy to chicken. We got our most recent bag from Chewy and fed her as usual, but she started to get horrible runny poops. For a week she was asking to go out to poop at all hours, keeping us up half the night, and having accidents in our house anytime we had to leave. We took her to the vet and got her an expensive prescription antibiotic thinking something was wrong. Then a friend told me they heard Farmina had a formula change. Turns out that Farmina, who we trusted and paid top dollar for, started adding chicken fat and pork fat to this food and there was absolutely no warning or notice from them or Chewy. You’d think Chewy could at least put a note somewhere on the product saying “new formula”. Beware of this if your dog is sensitive to chicken!! Hopefully this review can save someone from an unnecessarily sick dog and expensive vet bills and medications.

We switched to this food roughly one year ago after 7 long years of fighting vet bills and skin allergies. Our dog suffers from environmental allergies that are impossible to remove and the chicken products found in most foods just happened to cause them to flare. For the first time since he was a puppy his belly has returned to a normal pink color. He no longer has bouts of diarrhea, happily eats only according to his appetite, bad breath is improved, and he has more energy. We learned about Farmina from a GSD page and were recommended a grain, limited ingredient diet by his new vet who we’ve also decided to keep. I’m greatful we found this food just worried about it being phased out locally. It is also extremely hard to find grain foods which is terrifying due to all of the new research. Give it a shot. It’s expensive dry food, but we have no regrets.

This food has exploded my dog into a glossy, happy, muscled lean Cane Corso! The ingredients alone are say it all. I looked for months for a food that didn't have crap fillers and crap protein sources. The only ingredient-just one, is the beet pulp, not bad for dogs at all, just unnecessary; however, I could not find any on the market with none, I looked at well over 100 brands. This food has changed her life. This brand is also made that if your dog gets picky, you can interchange them. If the ingredients always stay the same, we're Farmina for life!
