If you feed your dog this because they have a chicken allergy, FARMINA HAS ADDED CHICKEN. I’m very disappointed after receiving our most recent bag of Ancestral Grains Lamb and Blueberry adult dog food. I noticed the nutrition label looked different (like a sticker had been placed over the old one) and dehydrated chicken is now listed as the 3rd ingredient, which was not there before. There was no warning from Farmina regarding this and our dog is allergic to chicken, which is why we were feeding him this food as it’s EXTREMELY hard to find a dog food that doesn’t include chicken. I assume this was a cost-related decision on Farmina’s part, yet there was no cost reduction in price on our end. We’ve been using this food for years and it’s the only one our dog has done well on, and now we will likely need to find another. Very disappointed in the Farmina brand.

Now made in Texas with new formula listing chicken as the #2 ingredient which is horrible for allergic dogs. They also added pea fiber. Peas are linked to DCM heart disease by the FDA. This new formula will be used globally moving forward according to the Farmina rep I spoke to. We had to switch sadly after 6 years. Special thanks to Chris @ Chewy customer service. She was AMAZING and helped us find a kibble with no chicken or peas. Natural Balance LID line Lamb and brown rice or NB LID salmon and brown rice both have neither. We went with Salmon. Thanks again Chris and Chewy team. Shame on Farmina as they cared little and basically said too bad. Please get the word out

I adopted my 4 year old Siberian Husky about 2 months ago when he was severely malnourished and underweight. I tried so many brands to find something that he would eat, high quality, and nutritionally dense to help him put on weight and muscle. Farmina was the one food that he would devour everytime without getting bored of it. He will eat it completely plain as well. Despite other people’s opinions on the kibble size, I prefer the larger pieces of kibble. Since it’s hard to get him to eat in general, he does not have to eat as many “bites” to finish his meal. I would highly suggest this brand, especially for those with high energy or working dogs. This food will help them maintain a healthy coat and muscular disposition.

So, I wanted to leave a huge review for this food. I have multiple pictures for this review as well. My 1 year old, 80+ lbs pitbull/retriever mix dog has been the pickiest dog i have ever had in my life. He turns his nose up to so much food, therefore meaning I have spent money on so much food. I was getting to the point of "if he's hungry enough, he'll frikin eat it". I even looked for a way to get mini sample packs of food to see if he'd show me what he'd like... I found diddly squat! I finally decided my last ditch effort was to order the smaller bags of a couple well reviewed dog foods, and do a sample food buffet along with some other foods I have bought over the months. In order: *Farmina N&D Lamb & Blueberry for Medium and Maxi breeds, *[no bag in picture] a grain free, Acana brand food (i don't remember the flavor, sorry!) *Nutro Lamb & Brown Rice for Large Breed Puppy, *Eukanuba Chicken for Large Breed & Active Puppy, *Farmina N& D Chicken & Pomegranate for Medium and Maxi, & * Zigniture Limited Ingredient Turkey (for my white dog with severe allergies) #i also want to note, I did a majority of grain foods because, after extensive research, grain free foods were found more-long term- damaging to golden retriever breeds(which my black dog is half of) [My cat & dogs did sniff all foods] END RESULTS?! (For fun) Kitty- Farmina N&D Chicken & Pomegranate! (The picky one!) Black dog- Farmina N&D Lamb & Blueberry! *I would like to mention though, the only other one he decided was acceptable enough to even taste test was the Farmina N&D Chicken and Pomegranate (Allergies) white dog- Zigniture Turkey Limited Ingredient! * phew! I was worried about that one! So glad she loves her special food! I would like to mention though, the only other foods she found worthy to taste test were both the Farmina N&D's. Hope y'all found this helpful!

I have 0 complaints about this food except for the fact that my dog hates it.. now, my Frenchie, Miller, would eat moldy lettuce I swear. He is the least picky eater, but for some reason he just isn’t a fan of this one. We use the lamb and blueberry. Some days he will eat it okay, other days he’ll eat half of his meal, and 50% of the time he won’t even walk over to his bowl unless I put a topper on his food. Even then he may not eat it all. This food is way too expensive to be wasting half his food. He has a lot of allergies so I don’t like adding a lot of things to his food. He also doesn’t get very many treats or things because of his allergies so I at least want him to enjoy the one food he actually is allowed to have.. we switched from Orijen which he liked but it didn’t agree with his tummy. I don’t know if I’m going to keep using this food or not but we will see.

I’ve been feeding my dogs Farmina for about 6 months now. Denali (Golden mix, ~50lbs.) is about 1.5, and Kaia (terrier mix, ~10lbs) is going to be 4. Last year about this time, Denali (who was still about 7-8 months old) started having really bad food allergies. She was on a chicken protein food, and she started getting this really rash on her belly, CONSTANTLY scratching & biting, hotspots all the time, then I switched to Purina Pro Plan Focus Salmon for sensitive skin, and it was a constant battle for firm poop. I tried with Fortiflora as well, and they were never consistently firm. We tried the lamb formula too, but no success. Neither of my dogs have grain intolerances, so I wasn’t concerned with about grain content, but more about legume content with all of the DCM stuff going around specifically in Golden’s. I don’t know exactly how much of it is scientifically proven, but I’d rather be safe than sorry. I spent so much time looking for a good with no chicken, minimal salmon, and the least amount of peas and stuff as possible. 6 months later, they’re both doing great. Denali’s body looks great, lots of energy, skin and coat look good, normal poop everyday, and we’re happy. The only con I’ve come across so far is that it’s pricey, but in my opinion worth it if it works for your pup.

Farmina is by far my absolute favorite dog and cat dry food that is offered. It was superior to other top brands in its category, like Open Farm, Nature's Logic, Orijen, Acana, etc. My dogs and cats will go crazy over this food, even just the bag because the oils always line the inside of the bag, they will lick it clean. If you have a picky eater, try farmina I swear almost any dog or cat will eat it, hand down. Yes, it is expensive and that is a major downfall, it's dissappointing because it used to be more affordable just a couple of years ago but I over look the price because of the quality, the results, the palatability, the csutomer service, the accesibility, the VACUUM sealed bags, and ingrediants. I switch between flavors, although not recommended by Farmina, I have never had an issue. They love the tropical flavors, chicken and pomegranate, lamb and blueberry, and codfish. I feed grain inclusive only.

So happy I switched

So far, so good! My vet recommended switching my 6 y/o German shepherd to purina after he had very dry skin and loose stools from being on Merrick for a few years

So far, so good! My vet recommended switching my 6 y/o German shepherd to purina after he had very dry skin and loose stools from being on Merrick for a few years. Thank god I did my own research before blindly listening to my vet. I now feed my pup a mix of raw (Steve’s real food) and Farmina dry topped with a spoonful of farmina canned. He absolutely loves it! Not to be too gross, but he used to have giant poops 2-3 times a day, and now, he’ll have one small one a day. I’ve read that this means he’s taking in more of the nutrients from the food. I switched my 7 month old puppy as well, and they’re both doing great! I’ve noticed a softer and healthier coat and far more energy in my older boy. My dogs are my kids, so although this food isn’t cheap, it’s well worth it to see them happy and thriving.

My 14 year old husky was struggling with diarrhea. The prescription food helped but after a while she refused to eat more than a handful. I bought a couple brands and this one with lamb was the first I tried. She really likes it, and has gained strength and weight and the stool is better than with the prescription food. I am so thankful.

We have been feeding our two large guys Farmina for well over a year, well before Farmina started re-formulating their kibble too. We vary the boys diet between the kibble plus canned food with a raw food diet (twice a week). Within Farmina's kibble, we alternate between the grain-free one month and the ancestral grain another. Louie and Coal particularily like the Boar and the Lamb, tried the chicken once which they liked (Coal the labrador won't turn any food away). We vary our boys protein often enough that they transition between protein sources without a hitch. They do get a spoonful of organic pumpkin with every meal as well as omega 3 fish oil, organic ACV, plus probiotics and digestive enzymes. When it comes to kibble, it has to be Farmina. Thank you Chewy.com!
