Does this dog food have any added colors or preservatives?

Answer by ChewyFeb 27, 2025
This recipe does not contain added colors. Farmina utilizes all-natural preservatives to ensure the product remains nutritionally optimal upon delivery. They exclusively use mixed tocopherols in conjunction with protective atmosphere packaging to maintain product integrity. During the packaging process, nitrogen is employed to displace any oxygen, effectively preventing fat oxidation and minimizing the risk of rancidity. This innovative solution safeguards nutrient preservation over time by isolating the kibbles from external elements. This same advanced technique is also widely used in the packaging of human food products.

Our first time trying Boar for our allergy prone and very picky girl. She loves the boar and apple! Cleans her plate if given alone, prefers it that way more than as topper or mixed with dry food. The texture is great, chunky/minced pieces in gravy instead of a dense pate, and the quality of this food is top notch. Due to cost and can sizes, we can't give this to her every day, but will keep in monthly autoship and divide 10oz cans to make this a treat 12 days each month!

I like the idea of eliminating invasive species and not letting the meat go to waste. My dog loves it, and as she is allergic to chicken (actually feathers, they are a by-product) (it is so hard to find dog food that does not contain Chicken), I loved finding this. However, the cost is pretty crazy. When did 6 cans become a "case"? Also, these are small cans. If you can afford it, it is a good option, but for me, this is just a once-in-a-while treat for my dog. Had it been a case of 12 it would be a monthly order.

I bought this for my little Yorkie for something different he usually eats different varieties of Weruva. He went wild over this and then he wanted more I gave him his little bit more and he scuffed that down too. Joey absolutely loves this food I give him wet in the morning and dry in late afternoon. This will be great, I can rotate between this brand and Weruva. I'm ordering two more different varieties for him today of this brand.

My dog had 3 bladder stones that we dissolved using Hills and then I wanted to switch him to a food with higher protein/quality but still keep the low ash or mineral content so as to discourage stones from forming again. I looked at all the prescription foods and then are so unappealing and the ingredient list is all carbs. I settled on Farmina Natural and Delicious Prime Chicken and Pomegranate and also the Boar and Apple and I am so pleased. It absolutely looks and smells like real food and the dogs LOVE it. It has some gravy and all the ingredients are identifiable. I love that it has a decent amount of protein, low fat and low ash. Overall, I'm quite pleased and pairing it with Farmina Neutered Kibble that also has the same qualities and has a urine acidifier.

SO good for picky and sensitive dogs!!

Farmina is a top quality food by a vet company from Italy. The food is highly digestible and limited ingredient so it is great for sensitive stomachs and food allergies. It has a minced meat consistency in broth, kind of in-between a stew and a pate. I am glad that the cans are BPA free as well. I wish these were available in larger bundles or cans though. At nearly $0.50 an oz they aren't the most affordable.

I have a small dog allergic to chicken, beef, and turkey. I was making her dog food from scratch using pork as the protein, but it's a hassle to make it all the time. My dog loves it. I started the transition slowly from her home-cooked food to this food. It took ten days. The problem with the other negative reviews is they didn't give the dog's digestive system time to adjust. You must do more than feed the dog new food and expect everything to be okay.

Probably one of the better processed dog food lines available, but it is a little more costly. My dog did like it and ate it right up. I use canned food as an enticement to eat the dry kibble, as opposed to the main meal, and products with more gravy seem to be better for that, so I likely won’t buy this one next time. I do believe it is a quality dog food

This flavor was a winner from the start and has maintained consistently high quality from can to can. The price is not friendly, but if I am going to pay more for my dog's food, it had better be something she loves and keeps her going strong.
