Very cute presentation, but poor ingredients

*I received this product for free for the purpose of my review. All opinions are my own.* The packaging is very fun. You open up the cardboard box in the center by pulling on a strip to reveal two gems in a plastic mold. My cat was hesitant at first and then she started to lick the gravy first and continued to lick down the mousse but she only ate about 1/3 of it. The presentation was cute and the texture of the mousse seemed very appealing. I just have some gripes with the ingredients. The third ingredient listed is Meat By-Product but it is not specified what kind of meat or what body parts. I prefer more transparency in what I am feeding my cat. Later on in the ingredients, Natural Flavors are listed, and again we don’t get to know what they are so I have no way of knowing how bad this truly is.

These saved my bank account and saved my cat. I have a cat that has many syndrome so he has problems going poop. So at first I was feeding him FF kitten and adult wet food but that wasnt working for him. That was just causing him issues because the texture was grain-y. It was hard for his stomach to digest. So then I switched him to Royal Canin Recovery but that was super expensive. I was feeding him that because the food had a smooth consistency. Smooth enough to be sucked up into a syringe. THANKFULLY I found these FF Gems and they're so much easier on my bank account and it gives my cat more flavor options. So basically this food saved my cat!

Micha is my 16 yr old senior who only eats sea flavors that are served pate. All the stars line up for her with the salmon gem. She does occasionally have burn out

She does occasionally have burn out and I just withhold it until she howls for it again. Pretty expensive but also pretty awesome for her. I figure if she'll eat it most times offered that's cheaper than throwing away other food she nibbles and then walks out on with a shake of her left foot.

The box comes with 2 pate containers, and I only gave her one today- saving one for tomorrow. I did give her dry food after, as it just didn't seem like enough for her. I received this product for free for the purpose of my review, but kitty really liked it, so I'm be buying it again. All opinions are my own.”
Wasted packaging and not a mousse

Forgot I’ve previously ordered but super wasteful packaging, difficult to open the foil peel back lid I’d feel bad for an elderly person trying to grip and peel back foil. I had to use the fork to pierce. The “gravy” halo was more line a tjick gel that didn’t move and it was denser than usual pate so would not categorize as a mousse. Cats wouldn’t eat it unless I stirred it up or mushed with fork. Won’t buy again.

My proven value to my clowder is my ability to open their food using my opposable thumbs, yet this packaging threatens to take them out! I am not happy having to taste their food when the foil seals do not release. It's a great concept, but the execution for this proud Kahu of 13 is it's not worth it. The clowder loves the food. I have to take a package of eight into my office and unpack it until I get the little Keurig type cubes. At least the cardboard is recyclable, but that's where it stops. I sneak the Keurig style containers out, and as soon as they land on the counter, the food alert goes off. From then until the last container is opened, I work feverishly and in pain as I have to squeeze the containers like the last part of a toothpaste tube to get the cute little pyramid out with the bit of aspic on top. Looks great every third one that comes out that way. Luckily my clowder is not fussy about presentation.

And due to the "gem" shape it is crazy difficult to get the food to come out of the cup. Oh lastly, anything packed in plastic will take on a plastic flavor after a certain amount of time and your cats will hate it. I'm sticking to tins from now on.

First, let me say my cat LOVES the Gems. Me - not so much. For those of you who feed your cat in the early a.m., you will understand why. First, there is a shipping
First, let me say my cat LOVES the Gems. Me - not so much. For those of you who feed your cat in the early a.m., you will understand why. First, there is a shipping box. Inside of that, the large Fancy Feast box. Inside THAT are cute little boxes that house (2) gems each. After unpacking all of this (cats are not patient) you get to the main event. The pod is hard to hold because it's "V" shaped design with the smaller portion at the bottom. When you exert the force required to open the heavy foil on the pod (this gets better) the gravy will spit out on your hand (foil is sharp, be careful). So here we are, cats getting desperate - turn over the pod, but because of the design, it won't come out without a utensil. Last step is to scoop out the gravy left in your "V" shaped pod. They're small. I use (2) per cat. I have 5 cats. Did I mention they eat early?

A little pricy, but Gems are 100% worth every penny. One of my boys had been losing weight and throwing up constantly, so the vet told me she thought he might have a thyroid condition. He didn't--he's just incredibly picky and has a rebellious stomach. I literally tried a score of different brands and varieties until I hit on Fancy Feast Gems. Not only does he reliably down this food as soon as it's offered, but he keeps it all down. I practically danced with glee when he made it two weeks without an incident. Other food may have a lower sticker price, but in the long run Gems are a far better deal for my little stinker.
