Picky IBD cat doing well with beef gems!!!!
My IDB cat Alma always did very well with Fancy Feast Beef Petites - but they were recently discontinued and I didn't know what to do because she's so darn picky
My IDB cat Alma always did very well with Fancy Feast Beef Petites - but they were recently discontinued and I didn't know what to do because she's so darn picky and we've tried all the prescription and over the counter foods in the world and she only picks at them - and her tummy is verrrry touchy. I was afraid of throwing her into a full blown IBD flare with a new food change but had no choice. I read that these gems are irresistible to picky cats so we gave it a shot. I could not believe it, but she dug right into it with gusto!!! And I had to make a very quick switch to this food which I would normally try to do slowly, but we had no choice bc I couldn't find more FF beef pates in petites anywhere. So we did the quick switch to these beef gems. Not only does she love them - she is not having any negative effects! There has been no vomiting or worsening of diarrhea. I'm very impressed. Hopefully this will not also be discontinued!!! Ohhh - she also gets probiotics daily (royal canin and visbiome) for her condition - and I believe that helped with the transition as well.

I intercepted this email to my grandma asking for a review, and though I can safely say she loves ordering from Chewy, I thought you should hear it from MY perspective. I love it when the Chewy boxes arrive; they are always full of beautiful surprises. Well, mostly wonderful - I don't care for the dog food and don't know why she keeps ordering that stuff... I mean, the silly dog barks at the delivery guy and then seems scared of the big, strange box in the dining room, while I know the actual value, not only of what's inside but the goodies are delivered in such a cool cat toy too. Just look at this marvelous box I got - it's a playground, a secret cat fort, and a bed all in one! Who could ask for anything more? And - best of all, it was full of my favorite food and treats, plus a bonus item - a new Fancy Feast food to try. They are a new, pyramid-shaped pate, something called 'Gems,' and so far I love them. What could be more perfect for a cat than something pyramid-shaped? You all know that we were worshipped as gods in ancient Egypt, speaking of which, folks, you should remember that, we sure do. Somewhere down the road, I may turn my nose up at them, just to make her try something new. After all, I am a cat, but for now, they are my new favorite. Just so long as they keep sending the food and treats in such awesome cat condos.

My cats love these so I keep buying them but I have lacerated my fingers trying to get the tin tops off the non recyclable containers so many times that I now just cut through them with a knife to avoid getting my blood into their food. The little cardboard boxes each two plastic containers are shipped in seem excessive but at least the cardboard is recyclable in my area.

However, the price of this food was so good at one point, that I decided to take a plunge and have my cats try this food. Yay, no vomiting, and and both cats eat this food up and lick their plates clean. My only hesitation is the amount of non-recyclable packaging this food produces. Yes, I know that the advertising and the convenience factor says that you just open the container, plate the food, and the cat eats it all up. However, neither of my cats would eat the entire portion in one sitting. In addition, the foil top sometimes is really stuck and the container is very hard to open, which can definitely be a problem for people with mobility and arm strength issues. PLEASE MAKE THIS FOOD AVAILABLE IN SMALL ALUMINUM CANS, and I will buy this food over and over. Thank you for your consideration.

My cat goes crazy for this food and starts "reminding" me 45 minutes before dinner time. The problem is that the foil seal on each cup is virtually impossible to remove. I've had to resort to cutting the foil with a sharp knife, or using pliers to get a better grip on the corner tab. My husband admits the packaging is a challenge, even for him. I understand the seal needs to be tight enough to prevent leakage during shipment, but c'mon, guys! Is there a secret decoder ring you forgot to send me?

My female cat has had numerous issues with food intolerance so I have been trying all different types of non-seafood wet food to see what she would eat. When she and her brother hear the sound of the package opening, they both run to get to the food first. We often see my female cat eating out of the bowl, while her brother stands on the other side and eats as well. They finish it off in no time (we've never seen food go this fast). This is definitely a hit with our "fur babies"!!

You can’t stack them. Not in the twin packs and not by the single plastic pyramids. -Will I buy it again if it goes on sale? Probably, but I’ll curse my decision two times a day when I open the cupboard and they fall out.
