Bearded dragons commonly eat live insects such as crickets, dubia roaches, mealworms, superworms, hornworms, and silkworms. Most experts recommend gut-loading live food for bearded dragons to ensure balanced nutrition.

How often should bearded dragons eat live food?

Baby bearded dragons should eat live food three to five times a day, while juvenile bearded dragons can taper off to two or three times a day as they get older. Adults typically eat live food once daily or every other day. Give your dragon as many insects as they can eat within a 10–15 minute period, adjusting feeding schedules based on age and body condition as needed. What should I do with uneaten bearded dragon live food?

Uneaten live insects should be removed from the enclosure after feeding. Leftover insects can cause overeating, or they may die and contaminate the enclosure. Live uneaten food can also stress bearded dragons and it may even bite your pet. To prevent these issues, remove any uneaten live food after 10–15 minutes.
