"Ringworm in cats is a fungal infection that causes circular or ring-shaped patches of hair loss, although the areas may also be irregularly shaped. Despite the name, ringworm is not caused by worms, but by fungus. Although the condition is not usually itchy, skin areas may become red, inflamed and scabby. Ringworm can also affect the nails, resulting in shredding and cracking. Transmission occurs via direct contact with an infected person or animal, or by touching a fungus-contaminated surface."
"You do need a prescription for ringworm medicine for cats. Treatment for ringworm usually includes prescription topical creams or shampoos combined with oral antifungal medication. Once you've seen your vet for a diagnosis, you can order your cat's ringworm medicine directly from Chewy. We'll contact your vet for the prescription and ship it right to your door. The process is fast and easy!"
